Technical Performance

The Blade Eclipse 360 is engineered to deliver genuine performance across a range of flying styles, from stable hovering to aggressive aerobatics. Weighing just 935 grams, the helicopter maintains excellent power-to-weight ratio thanks to its brushless outrunner motors and optimised EPO airframe design. The lightweight yet rigid construction means responsive control inputs translate directly into precise flight manoeuvres whilst maintaining stability through the integrated FC6250HX flybarless system. The dual brushless motors—a main motor for lift and a tail motor for yaw control—work in concert with the Spektrum Dual Smart ESC to deliver smooth acceleration and reliable performance across a wide throttle range. The 3S 11.1V LiPo battery specification (2200–3200mAh capacity) provides sufficient energy density for extended flight times whilst keeping weight manageable. The helicopter measures 782mm in length, 120mm in width, and 193mm in height, giving it a compact footprint that's easy to transport yet large enough to provide genuine flying capability. The fully moulded EPO body provides excellent durability against minor crashes and hard landings, and the use of metal-geared digital servos throughout ensures precise control inputs in all flight modes. The Spektrum 4651T receiver with integrated telemetry allows real-time monitoring of battery voltage and motor RPM, helping you manage flight times safely and identify potential issues before they become problems. For UK RC helicopter pilots seeking a brushless RC helicopter that bridges the gap between trainer platforms and high-performance sport machines, the Eclipse 360 delivers exceptional engineering and capability in an accessible, well-supported package.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the Blade Eclipse 360 suitable for intermediate RC helicopter pilots? — Yes, absolutely. The Eclipse 360 is rated for skill level 2 (intermediate to experienced) and is specifically designed for pilots who have mastered basic hovering and simple manoeuvres but want to progress to more capable platforms. The flybarless system with AS3X and SAFE technologies makes the helicopter significantly easier to fly than traditional flybar machines, whilst still offering genuine sport and aerobatic performance for experienced pilots.
  • What is AS3X technology and why does it matter? — AS3X stands for Attitude Stabilization eXtra, Spektrum's proprietary stability system that automatically helps the helicopter maintain level flight and assists with attitude hold. This technology continuously monitors the aircraft's orientation and makes micro-adjustments to help you keep the helicopter stable, making it much more forgiving for intermediate pilots whilst still allowing experienced flyers to disable it for full manual control when desired.
  • What does SAFE technology do on the Eclipse 360? — SAFE (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) is Spektrum's intelligent protection system that prevents the helicopter from exceeding safe control parameters. It provides failsafe functionality that automatically takes over if you lose signal, prevents dangerous attitudes during low-battery situations through terrain-following logic, and can be configured with different protection levels depending on your skill and preference.
  • What battery does the Eclipse 360 need, and how long does it fly? — The Eclipse 360 requires a 3S 11.1V LiPo battery in the 2200–3200mAh capacity range with either EC3 or IC3 connectors. The actual flight time depends on your flying style, battery capacity, and battery condition, but typically ranges from 8–12 minutes of active flying with a standard 2200mAh battery. Using a 3200mAh battery will extend this to approximately 10–14 minutes.
  • Do I need a special transmitter for the Eclipse 360? — Yes, you'll need a full-range 6+ channel Spektrum DSMX or DSM2 compatible transmitter that can be programmed for helicopter operation. The Eclipse 360 uses the 2.4GHz DSMX protocol, so any modern Spektrum transmitter supporting helicopters will work perfectly. Your transmitter must support at least 6 channels (throttle, cyclic pitch, cyclic roll, cyclic fore-aft, yaw, and ideally additional channels for gain adjustment and flight mode switching).
  • Is the Eclipse 360 easy to maintain compared to traditional flybar helicopters? — Yes, significantly so. The flybarless design eliminates the need for flybar bearing adjustments, flybar paddle tuning, and the associated complexity of traditional CCPM (cyclic/collective pitch mixing) systems. You'll still need to maintain servo cleanliness, check for loose fasteners, and monitor motor bearings, but the overall complexity is substantially reduced compared to conventional designs.
  • What is the difference between the Eclipse 360 and other Blade RC helicopters? — The Eclipse 360 is unique in its blended design philosophy: it offers scale-like proportions and appearance combined with genuine sport and aerobatic capability, whereas most helicopters are either pure trainers, pure aerobatic platforms, or scale models with limited performance. The inclusion of AS3X and SAFE technology as standard, combined with brushless motors and a fully moulded EPO body, places the Eclipse 360 in the premium intermediate category, offering significantly more capability than basic trainer helicopters.
  • Can I fly the Eclipse 360 indoors? — The Eclipse 360 is designed primarily for outdoor flying due to its size (782mm length) and rotor disc area. Whilst skilled pilots might be able to fly it in very large indoor spaces like aircraft hangars or sports halls, it is not recommended for typical indoor flying environments like gymnasiums. The helicopter is optimised for outdoor flying in calm to light wind conditions.
  • What is included in the BNF Basic package? — BNF (Bind-N-Fly) Basic means the helicopter comes fully assembled with all critical electronics factory-installed and tested, including the motors, ESC, flight controller, receiver, and servos. You simply need to bind it to your transmitter and add a battery and charger to start flying. Unlike some BNF packages, the Basic version does not include a transmitter, battery, or charger, so you'll need to source these separately.
  • How durable is the EPO body, and what if I crash? — EPO (Expanded Polypropylene) foam is significantly more durable than traditional balsa and composite materials, offering excellent crash resistance and repairability. Minor impacts that would splinter or crack traditional materials often result in no damage or minor surface damage on EPO. If damage does occur, EPO bodies can be repaired with foam-safe adhesives, and replacement body shells are widely available as aftermarket parts.
