Key Features
- Factory Assembled Ready-to-Run (ARTR) — This model arrives completely assembled and finished in authentic GT300 race livery, eliminating the need for time-consuming assembly work; you'll be ready to charge a battery and drive within minutes of opening the box, making this ideal for drivers who want instant gratification and more time behind the wheel rather than in the workshop.
- Fully Licensed Japanese Super GT Bodyshell — The bodywork is officially licensed to faithfully reproduce the iconic Subaru BRZ GT300 race car, featuring authentic proportions, livery and design cues that instantly distinguish this model from generic on-road RC cars and deliver genuine visual appeal at the track.
- Brushless Motor and Electronic Speed Control — The 2500kv brushless motor paired with the MSC-18BL brushless speed control provides reliable, responsive power with minimal maintenance; brushless systems offer superior efficiency, longer runtimes and smoother throttle response compared to brushed alternatives, making them the preferred choice for serious RC enthusiasts.
- Permanent Shaft-Driven 4WD System — All four wheels receive power through a robust shaft-driven transmission, delivering consistent traction and predictable handling across track surfaces; this design is far more durable and efficient than belt-driven systems and provides the confidence needed for competitive racing.
- Tunable Front and Rear Gear Differentials — Carisma has equipped this model with gear differentials at both axles, allowing experienced drivers to adjust locking characteristics for different track conditions; this level of tunability transforms the car from a casual basher into a genuine competition platform capable of delivering consistent lap times.
- 2.4GHz Digital Radio System — The included 2.4GHz radio system operates on a frequency that's immune to interference from other RC users at busy UK tracks, ensuring reliable communication between your transmitter and the car even in crowded environments.
- High-Speed Servo with Servo Saver — Fast, responsive steering is critical for on-road racing, and Carisma has specified a high-speed servo that reacts instantly to your steering inputs; the integrated servo saver protects against steering geometry damage if the front wheels strike obstacles, extending the lifespan of this critical component.
- Slick Specification Tyres — The M40S Subaru BRZ arrives equipped with smooth slick-pattern tyres specifically designed for low-grip asphalt surfaces; these tyres maximise contact patch and offer the predictable behaviour required for serious track work, though drivers exploring different surfaces may wish to explore the full range of Carisma option tyre compounds.
- Multi-Spoke Race Wheels — Scale-accurate race-style wheels with multiple spokes enhance the visual authenticity of this GT300 replica whilst providing genuine functional benefits through their lightweight construction and superior rigidity compared to basic wheel designs.
- Shock Absorbers with Tuneable Suspension — Independent suspension at all four corners keeps the chassis stable during aggressive cornering and absorbs track imperfections; the suspension geometry has been engineered for on-road racing, and shock components can be adjusted as drivers develop their tuning knowledge.
- Optional Upgrade Components Included — Carisma includes plastic spur gears and plastic bevel gears in the standard package, with optional metal differential gear sets and aluminium shock sets available separately; this means your M40S Subaru can evolve as your skills develop without requiring a complete replacement.
- XT60 Battery Connector — The MSC-18BL speed control is pre-fitted with an XT60 connector, a industry-standard connector widely used throughout the UK RC hobby that ensures compatibility with most modern LiPo and NiMH batteries.
Technical Performance
The Carisma M40S Subaru BRZ GT300 represents a significant leap forward in on-road RC car engineering, combining proven suspension geometry with modern brushless propulsion for genuinely competitive performance. The 2500kv brushless motor is perfectly matched to the MSC-18BL speed control, which is rated for the specific power characteristics of this motor and optimised for smooth, predictable power delivery across the throttle range. The permanent shaft-driven 4WD system distributes torque to all four wheels through rigid metal shafts, eliminating the slippage and maintenance issues associated with belt-driven alternatives; this engineering choice means your car will deliver consistent traction lap after lap. The tunable front and rear gear differentials allow drivers to adjust the locking characteristics independently, enabling fine-tuning of understeer and oversteer balance to suit individual driving styles and varying track conditions—a feature typically found only on premium competition models. The model measures 189mm wide with a 260mm wheelbase, delivering proportions that translate real-world sports car geometry into 1/10 scale. Build quality throughout is exemplary, with carefully selected materials engineered for durability under the stresses of competitive racing. The suspension geometry has been specifically developed for on-road racing rather than general-purpose bashing, meaning every component from the shock absorbers to the anti-roll bars has been tuned with precision handling in mind. Unlike entry-level RC cars, the M40S chassis can accommodate metal differential gear sets and aluminium shock components as upgrades, allowing the platform to evolve as drivers develop more advanced tuning skills. The high-speed servo ensures steering response matches the performance capability of the rest of the platform, critical for maintaining racing lines through complex track layouts. Compatibility with both 7.2V NiMH and 7.4V 2S LiPo batteries means drivers can choose based on their budget and performance priorities, though LiPo systems offer superior power delivery and runtimes.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Carisma M40S Subaru BRZ GT300 suitable for beginners? — The M40S platform is classified as Skill Level 2, meaning it's best suited to drivers with some RC experience rather than complete beginners. The brushless motor and speed control deliver more power and require more precise throttle control than entry-level brushed systems, and the tunable differentials reward drivers who understand suspension setup. That said, the ready-to-run format means you'll be driving immediately, and the forgiving handling characteristics of the platform make it genuinely approachable for dedicated enthusiasts ready to step up from beginner models.
- What battery does the Carisma M40S Subaru BRZ GT300 require? — This model is compatible with either 7.2V NiMH or 7.4V 2S LiPo batteries, both of which must feature an XT60 connector to match the pre-fitted MSC-18BL speed control. NiMH batteries offer simplicity and affordability, whilst 2S LiPo packs deliver superior power delivery, faster acceleration and longer runtimes. The choice depends on your priorities: if you're budget-conscious and prefer low-maintenance operation, NiMH works well; if you want genuine competitive performance and don't mind LiPo charging procedures, 2S LiPo is the recommended choice.
- What is the performance difference between this and other Carisma M40S models? — The M40S platform is available in multiple licensed variants, including the Honda Civic Type R FL5 and Subaru Impreza WRC 2006. All share identical mechanical platforms—the same 4WD transmission, brushless motor, speed control and suspension geometry—meaning performance is essentially identical. The differences are purely aesthetic, determined by which real-world vehicle you prefer to drive at 1/10 scale. The Subaru BRZ GT300 is specifically finished in Super GT racing livery, making it the choice for drivers who prefer circuit racing aesthetics over road-car styling.
- Can I upgrade components on the M40S Subaru BRZ GT300? — Yes, the M40S platform benefits from Carisma's comprehensive range of option parts. The box includes plastic spur gears and plastic bevel gears, with metal differential gear sets available as upgrades for increased durability and precision. Aluminium shock components can be fitted to replace the standard items, improving both handling precision and reliability under racing stress. This upgrade path means the M40S can evolve from a stock ready-to-run car into a genuinely competition-grade platform as drivers develop their skills and ambitions.
- What radio system is included with this model? — A 2.4GHz digital radio system is pre-installed and included with the M40S Subaru BRZ GT300. The 2.4GHz frequency is the modern standard for RC vehicles in the UK and worldwide, offering superior interference-free operation compared to older 27MHz and 40MHz systems. This means you can operate at busy UK clubs and events without worrying about frequency conflicts with other drivers.
- Is this car waterproof? — The MSC-18BL brushless speed control and 2500kv brushless motor are not fully waterproofed, meaning this car is designed exclusively for on-road use on dry asphalt surfaces. It is not suitable for water crossings, wet grass or muddy terrain. If you require a waterproofed platform, you'll want to explore alternative Carisma models specifically engineered for off-road use.
- How long do runtimes typically last on a single charge? — Runtime depends entirely on the battery capacity you choose and your driving style. A typical 5000mAh 2S LiPo battery will deliver 15-25 minutes of mixed driving, though aggressive racing and high-speed running will reduce this to 12-18 minutes. NiMH batteries of equivalent capacity deliver slightly shorter runtimes. Multiple battery packs are recommended if you plan extended track sessions without lengthy charging breaks.
- What makes the M40S chassis special compared to other 1/10 on-road platforms? — The M40S benefits from Carisma's decades of touring-car racing expertise, translated into a platform that's genuinely competitive at club level whilst remaining accessible to serious enthusiasts. The shaft-driven 4WD system is more robust and efficient than belt-drive alternatives, the tunable gear differentials allow sophisticated handling adjustments, and the suspension geometry has been precisely engineered for precision track work. This is not a basher masquerading as a racer—it's a genuine racing platform finished in ready-to-run convenience.
