Key Features
- 80W Power Output with 7A Maximum Charge Current — This charger delivers genuine fast-charging capability with an 80W maximum power rating and adjustable output up to 7 amps, allowing you to charge even large-capacity battery packs in reasonable timeframes without the slow trickle charging that degrades modern lithium cells over time.
- Dual AC/DC Input for Ultimate Flexibility — The RC6-VSR accepts both mains AC power (100-240V) and DC input (11-18V), meaning you can charge at home from a standard UK power socket or in the field using a portable 12V battery or car cigarette lighter adapter, making this charger truly portable and versatile for any RC environment.
- Multi-Chemistry Battery Support — This single charger handles LiPo, LiFe, Li-Ion, LiHV, NiMH, NiCd, and lead-acid (Pb) batteries, supporting lithium cells from 1S to 6S (3.7V through 22.2V) and NiMH/NiCd from 1 to 15 cells, eliminating the need for separate chargers for different battery types across your RC collection.
- Advanced Balance Charging Technology — The built-in balance function with 200mA maximum balance current ensures every cell in your multi-cell battery pack charges to exactly the same voltage, preventing cell imbalance that leads to reduced performance, dangerous voltage spikes, and premature battery failure.
- Internal Resistance Checker for Battery Health Monitoring — This intelligent feature continuously monitors your batteries' internal resistance, allowing you to track battery health over time and identify ageing cells before they fail unexpectedly during a race or flight, ultimately extending your battery investment's value.
- Comprehensive Charging Modes — The charger offers multiple operation modes including fast charging for quick turnarounds, balance charging for cell equalisation, discharge mode for pack maintenance, and storage mode for safe long-term battery preservation, giving you complete control over battery conditioning.
- Multiple Safety Features Built-In — Protection includes capacity limits to prevent overcharging, charge time limits to catch faults, automatic temperature monitoring to shut down if the charger overheats, and an integrated cooling fan that ensures safe operation during extended charging sessions.
- Microprocessor Controlled Precision — Advanced digital control ensures accurate voltage and current delivery, eliminating the inconsistencies of older analogue chargers and ensuring every charging cycle is perfectly calibrated for maximum battery longevity and performance.
- Versatile Connector Compatibility — Supplied with multiple charging leads including Deans, JST-BEC, and crocodile clips, plus conversion leads and a 12V plug adapter, the RC6-VSR connects to virtually any RC battery type without requiring additional purchased adapters.
- Compact and Portable Design — At just 136 x 127 x 56mm and weighing only 400 grams, this charger is significantly more portable than larger benchtop units whilst still delivering powerful 80W charging performance, making it ideal for storage in a field box or workshop shelf.
Technical Performance
The Overlander RC6-VSR represents a significant step up in charging technology for serious RC hobbyists. With an 80W maximum power output and selectable charge current from 0.1A to 7A, this charger delivers genuine fast-charging capability without the compromises associated with underpowered units. The discharge function operates at up to 1A with 5W maximum power, sufficient for battery maintenance and cycling without requiring a separate discharger. The 200mA maximum balance current ensures even the largest multi-cell packs achieve perfect cell balance, critical for LiPo safety and performance in demanding applications like competitive RC racing. The microprocessor-controlled system uses sophisticated algorithms to monitor cell voltage, temperature, and charge acceptance throughout every cycle, adapting the charge profile in real-time to optimise battery health. The integrated cooling fan automatically activates during extended use, preventing thermal damage to internal components and ensuring safe operation in warm environments. The charger's 400-gram weight and compact dimensions belie its industrial-grade engineering—this is professional equipment built to withstand years of intensive hobby use. Input voltage flexibility (AC 100-240V or DC 11-18V) means the RC6-VSR adapts to any environment, from a UK home workshop to international hobby venues. The comprehensive safety system includes reverse polarity protection, short circuit detection, and automatic shutdown on fault conditions, providing peace of mind when charging valuable battery packs worth hundreds of pounds.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Overlander RC6-VSR suitable for beginner RC hobbyists? — Yes, absolutely. Whilst the RC6-VSR is capable enough for professional competition, its user-friendly microprocessor-controlled system and intuitive interface make it equally accessible to newcomers to the RC hobby. Simply select your battery chemistry, cell count, and desired current, and the charger handles the rest with foolproof safety systems preventing mistakes.
- Can this charger handle all my RC battery types? — The RC6-VSR supports LiPo, LiFe, Li-Ion, LiHV, NiMH, NiCd, and lead-acid batteries, covering virtually every battery chemistry used in modern RC applications across cars, planes, drones, boats, and receivers. This single charger can replace multiple older single-chemistry units.
- What's the difference between the RC6-VSR and cheaper RC chargers? — The RC6-VSR combines significantly higher power output (80W), genuine fast charging at up to 7A, internal resistance monitoring, balance charging at 200mA, microprocessor control, and comprehensive safety features. Many cheaper chargers lack balance functionality, offer lower power output, and provide no battery health monitoring, meaning they're suitable only for casual occasional use rather than serious hobbyists.
- Can I charge LiPo batteries safely with this charger? — Yes, the RC6-VSR is specifically designed for LiPo safety with multiple integrated protections. Balance charging ensures no cell exceeds safe voltage limits, temperature monitoring prevents thermal runaway, and the comprehensive safety system includes charge time limits and automatic shutdown. The package coordinates well with optional LiPo safety charge sacks for additional fire containment during charging.
- How long does it take to charge my battery? — Charge time depends on battery capacity and selected current. For example, a 2000mAh LiPo charged at 2A takes approximately one hour. The 7A maximum output allows larger packs to charge significantly faster than with traditional 50W chargers, reducing turnaround time between races or flights.
- What input power does the RC6-VSR need? — The charger accepts AC mains input from 100-240V (perfect for any UK wall socket) or DC input from 11-18V (suitable for car batteries, portable power stations, or field power supplies), offering unprecedented flexibility for charging anywhere.
- Does the charger work in the field or only at home? — Both. The AC/DC dual input means you can use it at home on mains power or in the field with a 12V battery, making the RC6-VSR genuinely portable for trackside charging, field events, and away trips. The compact size fits easily in a field box alongside your models.
- What does the internal resistance checker do? — This feature measures your battery's internal resistance, which increases as cells age. Higher internal resistance indicates degrading battery health and reduced performance under load. Regular monitoring helps you identify ageing packs before they fail during competition, potentially saving expensive crashes or mishaps.
