Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the SBX-825 Carbon Edition suitable for beginner RC racers? — The SBX-825 is classified as an Expert-level racing platform requiring assembly and tuning knowledge. This is not a ready-to-run beginner RC car. The kit requires significant assembly time (more than one day) and assumes the builder has experience with 1/8 scale racing buggies, understands electronics integration, and possesses the mechanical knowledge to tune suspension, drivetrain, and aerodynamics for competitive racing. If you are new to RC racing, we recommend starting with a simpler platform before investing in a competition-grade buggy of this calibre.
- What motors and electronics are compatible with the SBX-825? — Team Corally recommends pairing the SBX-825 with a brushless motor in the 4268-4274 size range with 1900-2200KV output for optimal performance. The recommended complete electronics package includes the CMM-8 Racing Controller ESC, Pista 805 sensored brushless motor, CS-5016 HV steering servo, and a Voltax 120C LiPo HV battery. These components are specifically matched to the chassis for precision control, incredible power delivery, and unmatched reliability in competitive racing conditions.
- What battery does the SBX-825 require? — The SBX-825 is designed to operate with 4S LiPo HV batteries. The battery compartment measures 161 x 51 x 49mm, accommodating standard racing-format 4S packs in the 5000-7000mAh capacity range. The Voltax 120C 4S LiPo is the manufacturer-recommended battery, providing the power delivery and discharge capability necessary for competitive racing applications. Standard non-HV 4S LiPo batteries may also be compatible, but HV chemistry batteries are recommended for maximum performance.
- What is the difference between the Carbon Edition and the 7075 Edition? — The primary difference is the chassis material. The Carbon Edition features a revolutionary molded 3mm 3K carbon fibre chassis that is lighter and more rigid, offering superior aerodynamic design with angled kickups. The 7075 Edition uses a traditional 3mm hard-anodised 7075-T6 aluminium chassis with proven reliability and performance characteristics. Both platforms share the same advanced suspension, drivetrain, and precision engineering. Choose the Carbon Edition if you prioritise weight reduction and cutting-edge construction, or the 7075 Edition if you prefer proven aluminium durability and proven track performance.

Suspension arms, shock towers, braces, and drivetrain components are available separately as spares and upgrades. The modular design allows you to fine-tune every aspect of your machine as you develop your racing setup and discover your preferred handling characteristics. Team Corally produces an extensive range of optional parts and upgrades specifically for the SBX-825 platform.
- What makes the carbon fibre chassis better than aluminium for racing? — The molded carbon fibre chassis in the Carbon Edition represents a revolutionary design that offers several competitive advantages over traditional aluminium. Carbon fibre provides superior stiffness-to-weight ratio, meaning the chassis is lighter than aluminium whilst being more rigid, resulting in more responsive handling and better energy efficiency. The angled kickups in the carbon design optimise aerodynamics for high-speed stability. Carbon fibre also provides superior damping characteristics that can reduce vibration and improve precision. However, it is more expensive and requires careful handling compared to the proven durability of 7075-T6 aluminium.
- Is this an off-road racing buggy or a basher? — The SBX-825 is specifically engineered as a competitive off-road racing buggy designed for organised racing on prepared clay and dirt tracks. Whilst the construction is robust and has been bash-tested, it is optimised for racing performance rather than casual bashing. The suspension geometry, aerodynamics, and drivetrain tuning are all configured for maximum grip and handling precision on racing surfaces. If you want a tough casual basher, a different platform might be more appropriate, but if you are serious about 1/8 scale off-road racing, the SBX-825 is the platform to choose.
- What is the top speed of the SBX-825? — Top speed depends on motor selection, battery voltage, gearing, and track conditions. With the recommended motor (4268-4274, 1900-2200KV) and 4S LiPo battery, expect speeds in the competitive racing range typical for 1/8 scale buggies. Exact top speed specifications are not provided by the manufacturer as performance varies significantly based on specific component selection and track conditions. Focus on setup, tuning, and driving technique rather than raw top speed for competitive racing success.
