Key Features

  • Sensored brushless design — The integrated sensor technology provides precise speed feedback and smooth power delivery, eliminating the jerky behaviour of sensorless motors and delivering the responsive throttle control that competitive RC racers need for winning performance.
  • 1950KV rating — This mid-range KV specification offers the perfect compromise between top speed and acceleration torque, making the motor equally at home in fast sprint racing or demanding off-road terrain where low-end grunt matters as much as outright velocity.
  • 4-pole rotor construction — The 4-pole design delivers a superior power band compared to 2-pole alternatives, generating better mid-range torque whilst maintaining excellent top-end speed for competitive 1/8 scale RC buggy, truggy and truck racing.
  • Stock motor classification — Compliant with IFMAR, EFRA, ROAR and BRCA racing regulations, this motor is approved for use in competitive racing championships and sanctioned events across the UK and internationally, giving you confidence in its legality for race meetings.
  • Adjustable timing — The motor features variable timing adjustment, allowing you to fine-tune performance characteristics to suit your driving style, terrain conditions and specific RC vehicle setup for optimised lap times and handling.
  • Ultra-low resistance — With just 0.01 Ohm internal resistance, this motor minimises energy loss and heat generation, ensuring maximum efficiency and extended runtime from your LiPo batteries whilst keeping the motor cool during intense racing sessions.
  • Wide voltage compatibility — The motor accepts 2S through 6S LiPo battery packs, providing tremendous flexibility to match your existing battery inventory or choose the voltage that best suits your driving preferences and performance goals.
  • High current capacity — Rated for maximum current draw of 130A (manufacturer specification), this motor can deliver serious power when properly geared and supported by a suitable ESC, making it capable of driving high-performance RC setups.
  • Compact 4272 size — The 42mm diameter and 72mm length make this motor ideal for fitting into standard 1/8 scale RC chassis without modification, ensuring compatibility with most popular buggy, truggy and truck platforms without custom mounting solutions.
  • Precision engineering — Built with 12-slot stator windings and 0.2mm steel laminations for minimal cogging and smooth power delivery, this motor demonstrates Team Corally's commitment to precision manufacturing and component quality that serious racers expect.

Technical Performance

The Rycon 825 is engineered for demanding RC racing applications where performance consistency and reliability cannot be compromised. With a power output of 2860 watts at full specification, this brushless motor delivers genuinely impressive acceleration and sustained power that will transform the performance of your RC buggy, truggy, monster truck or 1/7 GT car. The sensored brushless technology provides smooth commutation without the cogging behaviour associated with sensorless designs, making throttle response more linear and predictable — a critical advantage when you're competing against other drivers or tackling challenging off-road terrain. The 4-pole rotor configuration generates excellent torque throughout the power band, ensuring strong acceleration from a standstill whilst maintaining competitive top-end speed when properly geared. Built with precision components including 12-slot stator windings and high-quality 0.2mm steel laminations, the motor minimises electromagnetic losses and heat generation to maximise efficiency and extend runtime. The adjustable timing feature allows you to optimise performance for your specific driving style and conditions — advance the timing for more aggressive acceleration or retard it for smoother, more progressive power delivery depending on your preferences. With an ultra-low 0.01 Ohm internal resistance, this motor converts more of your battery's energy into mechanical power rather than wasting it as heat, translating directly into better performance and longer running times before your LiPo packs require recharging. The 5.0mm shaft diameter and standard M3/M4 mounting holes ensure straightforward installation into most popular 1/8 scale RC vehicles without requiring custom adapters or modifications. Whether you're running 2S, 3S, 4S, 5S or 6S LiPo batteries, this motor's wide voltage compatibility means you can experiment with different battery configurations to find the optimal balance of power and runtime for your particular setup. Designed to work seamlessly with any 4272-compatible ESC and receiver system, the Rycon 825 integrates easily into both new builds and upgrades to existing RC cars, making it an excellent choice for racers looking to extract more performance from their machines.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the Corally Rycon 825 sensored motor suitable for beginners? — This is a stock-class competition motor that requires integration with a brushless ESC and proper LiPo battery setup, making it more appropriate for intermediate and advanced RC enthusiasts rather than complete beginners. However, if you already have experience with brushless RC cars and understand battery safety, this motor is absolutely suitable for your needs.
  • What battery voltage should I use with this 1950KV motor? — The Rycon 825 accepts 2S through 6S LiPo battery packs, giving you considerable flexibility. For most 1/8 scale buggies and trucks, 3S or 4S LiPo packs are the most popular choices, delivering excellent performance and reasonable runtimes. 2S provides lower speed for training, whilst 5S and 6S packs offer extreme performance for experienced drivers.
  • Is this motor legal for competitive RC racing in the UK? — Yes, absolutely. The Rycon 825 is compliant with IFMAR, EFRA, ROAR and BRCA racing regulations, meaning it is approved for use in sanctioned racing events and championships across the United Kingdom and internationally. This makes it an excellent choice if you plan to enter competitive racing.
  • What makes sensored brushless motors better than sensorless alternatives? — Sensored motors like the Rycon 825 use internal sensors to detect rotor position, allowing the ESC to deliver power more efficiently and smoothly. This results in more responsive throttle control, better acceleration feel, reduced cogging, and more predictable handling characteristics — all critical advantages in competitive racing situations where milliseconds and consistency matter.
  • What ESC do I need to run this motor? — You'll need a brushless ESC specifically designed to support sensored motors. The ESC must be rated for at least 114 amps (the motor's continuous current draw) and ideally 130+ amps to handle peak power. Popular options include Hobbywing EZRUN or QUICRUN series ESCs, which offer excellent compatibility with Corally motors.
  • How does the 1950KV rating compare to higher and lower KV motors? — KV refers to revolutions per minute per volt. At 1950KV, this motor spins at 1950 RPM for every volt applied, making it a mid-range option. Lower KV motors (e.g. 1700KV) produce more torque but lower top speed, whilst higher KV motors (e.g. 2200KV) produce higher top speed but less torque. The 1950KV rating makes this motor versatile across multiple vehicle types and driving styles.
  • What is the difference between 4-pole and 2-pole motor construction? — 4-pole motors use four magnetic poles instead of two, resulting in smoother power delivery, better mid-range torque, and reduced cogging. Whilst 2-pole motors may achieve slightly higher peak RPM, 4-pole designs like this Rycon provide the superior handling and consistency that competitive racers prefer.
  • Can I use this motor in different RC vehicle types? — Yes, the Rycon 825 is designed for 1/8 buggy, truggy, short course truck, monster truck and 1/7 GT car applications. Its 4272 size and standard mounting ensure compatibility with most popular chassis in these categories, though you should verify fitment with your specific vehicle.
