Key Features
- Sensored Brushless Technology — The integrated sensor system provides smooth, predictable power delivery from a standstill, eliminating dead spots and offering precise throttle control essential for competitive racing. Sensored motors are superior to sensorless alternatives because they allow your ESC to perfectly synchronise with rotor position, resulting in better acceleration and more reliable performance.
- 8.5-Turn Configuration — With 8.5 turns on the rotor, this motor is optimised for mixed-condition racing where you need both strong acceleration and respectable top speed. The 8.5T spec is a sweet spot for 1/10 scale racing, offering more torque than higher-turn motors while maintaining the speed necessary for larger track layouts.
- 540-Size Motor Housing — The industry-standard 540 size motor fits seamlessly into the vast majority of 1/10 scale RC cars available in the UK market, including most buggies, touring cars, pan cars, and competition platforms. This compatibility means you can easily upgrade your existing RC car with a professional-grade motor without requiring chassis modifications.
- Adjustable Timing — Professional racers understand that adjustable timing allows you to fine-tune motor performance for specific track conditions and driving styles. This feature means you can dial in the exact timing curve that delivers the best performance for your particular racing setup, from tight technical tracks to high-speed carpet courses.
- ROAR/BRCA/EFRA/IFMAR Compliant — Compliance with all major racing organisations ensures you can confidently use this motor in sanctioned competitions throughout the UK and internationally. This certification is essential if you're preparing for league racing, regional events, or national championships.
- 2-Pole Rotor Design — The 2-pole rotor configuration is the racing standard for 1/10 scale brushless motors, providing the optimal balance of efficiency, power delivery, and reliability that competitive drivers demand. This design has been proven across countless race wins in the RC motorsport community.
- 3-Slot Stator with Steel Laminations — The precision-wound 3-slot stator combined with 0.2mm steel laminations ensures minimal energy loss and maximum efficiency. This construction method reduces heat generation and allows the motor to maintain consistent performance throughout long race runs without thermal degradation.
- Compact and Lightweight Design — At just 35.8mm in diameter and 52mm in length, this motor maintains a low centre of gravity and compact footprint that benefits vehicle balance and handling characteristics. The lightweight construction also reduces unsprung mass, improving suspension response and overall vehicle dynamics.
Technical Performance
The Vulcan II Pro Modified represents the pinnacle of 1/10 scale brushless motor engineering for competitive RC racing. Operating across the full 1S to 3S LiPo voltage range, this motor delivers consistent power characteristics whether you're running a single 3.7V cell for endurance racing or stepping up to a 11.1V 3S pack for maximum performance. The motor's 4450 KV rating combined with 8.5 turns provides an ideal power band for mixed-condition racing, whilst the 610-watt output capacity ensures adequate power reserve for aggressive driving. With a maximum current draw of 85 amps and input current of 3.7 amps, the motor remains within safe operating parameters for most quality racing ESCs designed for modified-class motors. The 0.01-ohm resistance figure demonstrates exceptional winding efficiency, minimising power loss and heat generation during extended race sessions. The rotor measures 12.3mm outer diameter by 5.0mm inner diameter by 24.5mm length, engineered using the matching C-16180 component for optimal magnetic coupling and power transmission. The motor shaft diameter of 3.17mm (which is 1/8-inch) is the universal standard for 1/10 scale RC cars, guaranteeing compatibility with all standard pinions and drive trains. With M3 mounting holes spaced at 25.4mm centres, installation into standard 1/10 scale vehicle frames is straightforward and secure. The sensored electronics provide thermal stability and consistent performance even under the demanding conditions of multi-round competition, where reliability is as important as raw speed. This is a motor built to the exacting standards of professional RC racing, incorporating materials and engineering practices proven through countless hours on racing circuits across the UK and internationally.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Corally Vulcan II Pro Modified 8.5T suitable for my 1/10 RC buggy? — Yes, this motor is specifically designed for 1/10 scale buggies, touring cars, and pan cars. The universal 540 motor size and standard 3.17mm shaft diameter mean it will fit into the vast majority of 1/10 buggies available in the UK market. Confirm your vehicle accepts 540-size motors before purchasing.
- What battery voltage does this motor require? — The Vulcan II Pro operates across 1S to 3S LiPo voltage ranges, meaning you can run it on a single 3.7V cell up to a full 11.1V 3S battery pack. Most competitive racers use 2S or 3S packs for optimal performance, though 1S operation is viable for endurance racing or practice sessions.
- Can I use this motor in BRCA or IFMAR-sanctioned races? — Absolutely. The motor carries full compliance certification with ROAR, BRCA, EFRA, and IFMAR, making it eligible for use in all major UK racing competitions. You can confidently prepare this motor for league races, regional events, and national championships.
- What ESC do I need to run this motor? — You'll need a brushless-compatible electronic speed controller rated for a minimum of 85 amps continuous current. Quality ESCs from manufacturers like Hobbywing, Castle Creations, or other established brands in the RC market will work excellently with this motor. Ensure your chosen ESC supports sensored brushless operation for optimal performance.
- How does the 8.5-turn specification compare to other motor turns? — The 8.5T configuration offers more torque and acceleration than higher-turn motors (like 7.5T) whilst maintaining respectable top speed compared to lower-turn motors (like 10.5T). This makes it ideal for mixed-condition racing where you encounter both technical sections and longer straights within the same race.
- Is the adjustable timing feature difficult to use? — Adjustable timing on brushless motors allows you to modify the electronic commutation timing, which affects power delivery and efficiency. Most modern ESCs feature user-friendly timing adjustment menus, and detailed guidance is available in the motor manual. Beginners can use factory-default settings whilst experienced racers will appreciate the fine-tuning capabilities.
- Will this motor work with my existing 1/10 scale RC car? — Almost certainly yes, provided your car accepts 540-size motors with standard M3 mounting holes and a 3.17mm shaft. The 540 size is the universal standard for 1/10 scale RC racing, used across buggies, touring cars, and pan cars from all major manufacturers. Check your vehicle documentation to confirm motor specifications.
- What makes a sensored motor better than sensorless? — Sensored motors include position sensors that tell the ESC exactly where the rotor is at all times, enabling perfect synchronisation and smooth power delivery from zero throttle upwards. This eliminates the dead zone present in sensorless motors and provides superior throttle response, essential for competitive racing where consistency and precision matter.
