Technical Performance
The Team Associated AS91336 is a precision rear spring designed for 1/10 scale RC buggies and short course trucks that utilise the optional 12mm Big Bore Shock Set. At 2.00 lb per inch, this spring provides the ideal balance between chassis control and bump absorption for most track conditions encountered in UK RC racing and hobby driving. The green colour coding follows Team Associated's standard spring colour system, where going vertically through the same wire diameter from pink (softest) through to purple (stiffest) provides consistent rate progression. The engineering behind these springs means they maintain their rated stiffness throughout their service life, providing predictable and repeatable suspension performance whether you're running on carpet, asphalt or loose outdoor tracks. The spring is manufactured from high-quality materials that resist corrosion and maintain their physical properties even when exposed to moisture, ensuring durability throughout multiple racing seasons. When paired with the appropriate shock damping and ride height settings, this spring works with Team Associated platforms including the RC10B4, RC10B4.1, RC10B4.2, RC10B44, RC10B44.1, RC10B44.2, RC10T4, RC10T4.1, RC10T4.2, SC10, SC10.2, SC10.3 and SC10GT models. The 12mm Big Bore architecture allows for superior spring rates and damping control compared to earlier shock designs, resulting in better traction control, improved ride compliance and more predictable handling characteristics across variable terrain.
Suspension Tuning with This Spring
Understanding how spring rates affect your RC car's behaviour is crucial for optimising performance. Softer springs (like the black 1.90 lb option) increase chassis roll, improve traction in bumpy conditions, but are more prone to bottoming out on jumps or high-speed bumps. Stiffer springs (like the blue 2.30 lb or yellow 2.40 lb options) decrease chassis roll for more responsive handling, reduce the likelihood of bottoming out, but may sacrifice traction in rough terrain. The green 2.00 lb rate of the AS91336 provides an excellent middle ground, making it ideal for drivers who need versatility across different track conditions or who are still dialling in their suspension setup. When you adjust spring rates on your RC buggy or short course truck, you're fundamentally altering how the chassis responds to bumps, acceleration, braking and cornering forces, making spring selection one of the most impactful tuning decisions you can make.

Big Bore Rear Spring Rate Range
Team Associated offers a complete range of 12mm Big Bore rear springs to suit different driving styles and track conditions. Understanding the full range helps you make informed tuning decisions:
- AS91335 — Black, 1.90 lb/in (softest option)
- AS91336 — Green, 2.00 lb/in (moderate-soft option)
- AS91337 — White, 2.10 lb/in (moderate option)
- AS91338 — Grey, 2.20 lb/in (moderate-stiff option)
- AS91339 — Blue, 2.30 lb/in (stiff option)
- AS91340 — Yellow, 2.40 lb/in (stiffest option)
Most drivers keep multiple spring rates on hand, allowing them to adjust their setup between races without purchasing new shocks. The progression between rates is subtle enough to feel noticeable but small enough that you can find the perfect setup without major gaps in the range.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the 2.00 lb green spring suitable for beginners learning RC car setup? — Yes, the AS91336 is an excellent choice for drivers learning suspension tuning. The 2.00 lb rate sits comfortably in the middle of the available range, making it a safe starting point that works across most track conditions without requiring extreme adjustments. Beginners can then move softer or stiffer depending on whether they experience bottoming out or excessive chassis roll.
- What is the difference between the green 2.00 lb and other Big Bore rear springs? — Each Team Associated Big Bore rear spring rate is colour-coded and offers progressively stiffer rates. The green 2.00 lb (AS91336) is slightly softer than the white 2.10 lb but stiffer than the black 1.90 lb. Choose softer springs for bumpy tracks where compliance is needed, and stiffer springs for high-grip surfaces where you need chassis control without bottoming out.
- Will this spring work with my Team Associated RC10B4? — The AS91336 will only work with an RC10B4 if your vehicle is equipped with the optional Team Associated 12mm Big Bore Shock Set. This is an upgraded shock system separate from the standard shocks. If you have standard shocks, you'll need different springs designed for that specific shock diameter.
- How often should I replace suspension springs? — Quality springs like the Team Associated AS91336 are engineered for durability and should maintain their rated stiffness for many seasons of use. However, if you notice that your car bottoms out more frequently, feels unpredictably soft, or if the spring appears bent or damaged, replacement is recommended. Springs do eventually fatigue, but high-quality Team Associated springs typically outlast other suspension components.
- Can I use different spring rates on the front and rear? — Absolutely. In fact, most competitive RC drivers run different spring rates front and rear to balance overall suspension behaviour. The AS91336 is a rear spring specifically; front springs are separate components with different specifications. You can mix and match rates based on your specific tuning needs.
- What should I do if I'm experiencing too much chassis roll? — Excess chassis roll typically indicates your springs are too soft for the current track or driving conditions. You could upgrade to a stiffer spring (white 2.10 lb or grey 2.20 lb), increase anti-roll bar stiffness, reduce ride height, or a combination of these adjustments. The 2.00 lb green spring can be used as a baseline from which to adjust.
- Is this spring suitable for high-speed bashing or competition racing? — The AS91336 is versatile enough for both applications. For competitive racing, you may find yourself experimenting with different rates depending on the specific track. For bashing, the 2.00 lb rate offers good balance between comfort and control without bottoming out on jumps. Many racers and bashers find this rate to be their go-to starting point.
