Key Features
- Waterproof Case Design — The fully waterproof case construction protects all internal components from water spray, mud, and environmental contaminants, making this servo perfect for wet weather RC driving and extreme off-road conditions where moisture exposure is inevitable.
- Aluminium Case Construction — The precision-engineered aluminium case isn't just aesthetically superior—it actively dissipates heat away from servo internals, allowing cooler and smoother operation even during extended driving sessions or rapid repetitive steering inputs that would cause thermal issues in plastic-cased servos.
- High-Resolution 12-Bit Digital Control (4096 Resolution) — This servo incorporates leading-edge 12-bit (4096-step) resolution digital processing, delivering extraordinarily precise position feedback and control that translates to smoother, more accurate steering response and better handling characteristics in demanding off-road RC driving scenarios.
- Full Metal Gear Train — Every gear in the servo transmission is manufactured from hardened metal rather than cheaper composite materials, providing exceptional durability and strength that withstands the punishing shock loads and continuous stress of 5th scale RC vehicle operation without stripping or wearing prematurely.
- High Voltage Capable (HV) — The servo is specifically engineered to accept and operate efficiently at high voltage (7.4V nominal), which significantly increases available torque and speed compared to standard 6V operation, delivering noticeably better performance and more responsive handling in full-size RC applications.
- Soft Start Mode Technology — Featured in the Plus (''+') designation models, the new Soft Start Mode reduces initial current draw and mechanical shock during servo engagement, extending component lifespan and providing smoother, more refined steering response without sudden jerky movements.
- Sanwa SSR Compatibility — The servo is fully compatible with Sanwa SSR (Surface Radio) systems, making integration seamless if you're using professional-grade Sanwa radio equipment for your RC truck or buggy setup.
- Dual Ball Bearing Construction — Two precision ball bearings support the servo output shaft, ensuring smooth, low-friction rotation that reduces wear and extends the servo's operational lifespan while maintaining consistent performance over thousands of hours of use.
- 15-Tooth Savox Plus Spline — The servo features a standard 15-tooth spline output that accepts a wide range of Savox servo horns and is compatible with many aftermarket options, giving you flexibility in mounting and positioning for your specific vehicle setup.
Technical Performance
The Savox SW0241MG+ is engineered to deliver exceptional real-world performance that translates directly to better vehicle handling and responsiveness. At 7.4V operation, this servo produces a maximum torque output of 40kg-cm (555.5 oz-in), making it capable of handling the extreme steering loads encountered in 5th scale RC trucks and buggies without drooping or losing command during aggressive driving. The response time of just 0.17 seconds at 7.4V is genuinely quick—faster than many competitors at the same voltage—meaning steering inputs translate into immediate vehicle movement with minimal lag, crucial for precise corner entry and high-speed line corrections. The servo weighs 200 grams, making it a reasonable choice for vehicles where weight distribution matters. Dimensionally, the servo measures 65.8 x 30.0 x 59.1mm, sizing it appropriately for standard 5th scale steering servo mounts found on most popular truck and buggy chassis. The aluminium case construction provides genuine heat dissipation benefits; during extended driving sessions when servo duty cycles are high, the aluminium shell actively draws heat away from internal electronics, preventing thermal throttling that can reduce torque output in plastic-cased competitors. The full metal gear train (metal gears throughout, not hybrid constructions) is engineered to handle the continuous shock loads and directional reversals characteristic of off-road RC driving without gear wear that would progressively increase play and reduce precision. With dual ball bearing support, the output shaft operates with minimal friction and exceptional mechanical efficiency. This servo represents the engineering benchmark for commercial-grade 5th scale digital servos in the UK RC market, delivering measurable performance advantages that justify its position as a premium option for serious enthusiasts and competitors who demand reliability alongside raw performance.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Savox SW0241MG+ suitable for 5th scale RC trucks and buggies? — Yes, this servo is specifically engineered and recommended for 5th scale vehicles. The 40kg-cm torque output and 0.17-second response time at 7.4V are perfectly matched to the demands of large-scale RC trucks and buggies, providing responsive steering and the strength needed to handle extreme driving conditions.
- What voltage does this servo require, and what battery should I use? — The SW0241MG+ is high-voltage (HV) capable and performs optimally at 7.4V nominal (2S LiPo battery). It can also operate at 6.0V with reduced performance (0.21 seconds response time and 30kg-cm torque). You'll need a 7.4V 2S LiPo battery in your RC receiver battery pack to take advantage of the full performance specifications.
- How does the waterproof design benefit me as an RC enthusiast? — The fully waterproof case construction protects internal servo electronics from water spray, mud, and environmental contamination. This is genuinely important if you drive in wet conditions, through water crossings, or in muddy terrain. A waterproof servo can handle exposure that would damage standard servos and potentially create safety issues if servo failure occurs during driving.
- What makes the aluminium case better than plastic? — The aluminium case actively dissipates heat away from internal components, allowing the servo to operate at cooler temperatures during extended use. Cooler operation means more consistent torque output, less risk of thermal throttling, and longer overall component lifespan. The aluminium construction also provides superior structural rigidity, important when servo mounts experience extreme vibration and shock loads from off-road driving.
- What is the 12-bit (4096 resolution) specification, and why does it matter? — This refers to the digital processing resolution of the servo's control electronics. Higher resolution (12-bit vs older 8-bit standards) means the servo can detect and respond to finer steering input variations from your radio system, resulting in smoother, more precise directional control that improves handling characteristics and steering responsiveness in competitive driving scenarios.
- What is Soft Start Mode, and is it beneficial? — Soft Start Mode, featured in the Plus ('+') designation, gradually increases servo engagement rather than applying full force instantly. This reduces initial current draw on your receiver battery, minimises mechanical shock to the servo gears during engagement, and provides smoother, less jerky steering response—particularly noticeable during precision manoeuvres and technical driving.
- Is this servo compatible with my Sanwa SSR radio system? — Yes, the SW0241MG+ is specifically confirmed compatible with Sanwa SSR radio systems. If you're running professional-grade Sanwa equipment, this servo will integrate seamlessly into your setup.
- How does this servo compare to cheaper alternatives? — The SW0241MG+ combines several premium features that justify its position as a high-end servo: full waterproof construction, all-metal gear train, dual ball bearings, high-resolution 12-bit digital control, aluminium case with active heat dissipation, and genuine HV capability. Cheaper servos typically omit waterproof sealing, use hybrid or plastic gears, operate with lower resolution electronics, and may have compromised bearing support. For serious RC enthusiasts running 5th scale trucks and buggies in demanding conditions, the performance and durability advantages are substantial.
- What is the difference between the SW0241MG+ and older Savox servo models? — The Plus ('+') designation indicates this is a newer generation model featuring Soft Start Mode technology and confirmed Sanwa SSR compatibility. These additions provide smoother operation and expanded radio system compatibility compared to older non-Plus variants.
- Can I use this servo in salt water or marine environments? — The waterproof case design protects against freshwater spray and wet conditions. For salt water exposure, additional protective measures or specialist salt-water rated servos may be advisable, as salt water corrosion can affect even waterproof components over extended periods.
