Overview
The Team Associated RC10B7 FT 13mm Shock Pistons 2.5mm (2 x 1.9) represent a Factory Team precision component designed for serious RC racers and enthusiasts who demand the very best from their RC car suspension setup. Whether you're competing in UK RC championships or enjoying weekend racing at your local track, these shock pistons are engineered to give you the fine-tuned damping control that separates winning setups from average ones. As part of the Factory Team range, these pistons represent the pinnacle of Associated's suspension technology and are trusted by competitive RC drivers across the UK and beyond.
If you own a Team Associated RC10B7 or RC10B7D 1/10 scale 2WD buggy, upgrading to these Factory Team shock pistons is one of the most effective ways to optimise your suspension performance for different track conditions. The precision engineering and quality manufacturing ensure consistent performance lap after lap, giving you the confidence to push your RC car to its limits. These are genuine Associated components, not budget alternatives, and they're built to the same exacting standards that professional RC racers depend on when competing for podium finishes.
RC car suspensions are critical to performance, and the shock pistons are at the heart of your damping system. By choosing the correct piston configuration, you can adjust how quickly your shocks compress and extend, which directly affects how your RC buggy handles through corners, over jumps, and across rough terrain. The Team Associated RC10B7 FT 13mm Shock Pistons give you the precision control you need to dial in your setup perfectly for any racing scenario.
Key Features
- Factory Team Quality — These are genuine Factory Team components from Team Associated, the world-renowned RC car manufacturer, ensuring you're getting competition-grade parts rather than aftermarket imitations that may not deliver consistent performance.
- 13mm Shock Piston Design — The 13mm format is the standard size for the RC10B7 and RC10B7D, ensuring perfect compatibility with your existing shock assemblies without requiring any modifications.
- 2.5mm Specification — This specification refers to the piston thickness, which is a critical dimension for controlling damping rates and ensuring your suspension responds predictably to track conditions.
- 2 x 1.9mm Hole Configuration — The dual 1.9mm hole layout creates a precisely tuned flow path for shock oil, allowing you to achieve the exact damping characteristics needed for your preferred driving style and track surface.
- Precision Engineering — Each piston is manufactured to exacting tolerances, ensuring that every set performs identically, which means your RC car will handle consistently from one race to the next without any surprises.
- Easy Installation — These pistons are a direct fit for Team Associated RC10B7 shock assemblies, making them straightforward to install during your regular maintenance and setup sessions.
- Suspension Fine-Tuning — By selecting this specific piston configuration, you're able to fine-tune how your suspension absorbs bumps and reacts to acceleration, braking, and cornering forces, giving you a competitive advantage on track.
Technical Performance
The Team Associated RC10B7 FT 13mm Shock Pistons are engineered with meticulous precision to provide the kind of suspension control that competitive RC racers demand. The 2.5mm piston thickness combined with the 2 x 1.9mm hole configuration creates a specific flow restriction that regulates how quickly shock oil moves through the piston during compression and extension cycles. This damping characteristic is absolutely critical because it directly impacts your RC car's handling balance, stability, and responsiveness. In practical terms, when you hit a bump on the track, the shock compresses and the piston's holes control how much resistance the oil provides, which determines whether your suspension feels stiff or soft. The Factory Team designation means these pistons have been thoroughly tested and validated by professional RC racers and engineers, and they meet the same exacting build quality standards as all genuine Associated components. The precision manufacturing ensures that both pistons in the set perform identically, eliminating any left-to-right handling imbalance that could slow you down. Whether you're running on asphalt, carpet, dirt, or clay tracks around the UK, having the correct shock piston setup is the foundation of a competitive race car, and these Factory Team pistons give you the precision tool you need to optimise your suspension for any conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a shock piston and why do I need to replace mine? — A shock piston is the internal component inside your RC car's shock absorber that controls damping by regulating how much resistance shock oil experiences as it flows through. Over time, pistons can wear out, develop micro-scratches, or become damaged from racing, which reduces damping consistency and hurts your car's handling. Replacing worn pistons with fresh Factory Team components restores your suspension performance and ensures predictable handling on track.
- Are these shock pistons compatible with my RC10B7? — Yes, these 13mm shock pistons are specifically designed for Team Associated RC10B7 and RC10B7D 1/10 scale 2WD buggies, and they fit directly into the standard 13mm shock assemblies without any modifications required.
- How do I choose between different piston hole configurations? — The number and size of holes in the piston determine how much damping you get. Smaller holes create more resistance and stiffer damping, while larger holes allow more flow and softer damping. The 2 x 1.9mm configuration is a versatile middle-ground setup that works well across different track conditions. Many racers keep several piston sets on hand so they can quickly adjust their damping for different surfaces.
- Do I need special tools to install these pistons? — Installation requires basic RC car maintenance tools, including the ability to remove your shock bodies and access the internal pistons. If you're comfortable performing your own RC car maintenance, you'll find the installation straightforward. If you're new to RC cars, you may want to ask for guidance at your local RC shop or club.
- What is the difference between Factory Team and standard Associated components? — Factory Team is Associated's premium competition line, developed and tested by professional racers for maximum performance. These components are engineered to tighter tolerances, use higher-quality materials, and have been proven in competitive racing environments. While they cost more than standard parts, the improved consistency and durability make them the choice of serious racers.
- Can these pistons improve my RC car's lap times? — Yes, having the correct shock piston setup tailored to your track surface and driving style can absolutely improve your lap times by giving your RC buggy better handling balance, more consistent grip, and more predictable suspension response through corners and over obstacles.
