Technical Performance
The Team Associated 13mm Shock Collars are engineered with precision to ensure proper fitment and secure retention of your shock absorbers. The blue aluminium material provides an excellent balance between weight savings and structural durability—critical factors in competitive RC racing where every gram counts and suspension reliability is paramount. Aluminium construction resists corrosion and maintains its finish even with regular use in outdoor RC environments. The collars work in conjunction with your shock bodies to maintain proper geometry and prevent unwanted movement or play in the suspension system. For serious RC racers running Team Associated buggy platforms or short course trucks, maintaining proper shock collar fitment is essential for consistent handling characteristics and predictable suspension performance. Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a shock collar and why do I need one for my RC car? — A shock collar is a retention component that keeps your shock absorber firmly mounted in the suspension tower. It prevents the shock from rotating or sliding out of position during aggressive driving, maintaining consistent suspension geometry and handling. Over time, shock collars can wear, making replacement spares essential for maintaining your RC car's performance.
- Are these shock collars suitable for my Team Associated RC model? — These 13mm shock collars are compatible with a wide range of Team Associated vehicles including buggy models like the B6.4 and B74.2 series, as well as truck platforms and other models in the Team Associated catalogue. Consult your vehicle's manual or parts list to confirm 13mm shock hardware compatibility with your specific model.
- What makes the blue aluminium finish special compared to standard collars? — The blue aluminium finish is both functional and aesthetic. Aluminium is lightweight, helping reduce unsprung weight in your suspension system, whilst also being durable and resistant to corrosion. The blue colour is a signature Team Associated aesthetic that complements modern RC builds perfectly.
- Can I use these shock collars as upgrades or just replacements? — These collars work as both replacements for worn components and as upgrade spares. If you're building multiple suspension configurations or have spare shock bodies, additional collars allow you to maintain multiple setups without constantly swapping components.
- How do I install these shock collars on my RC car? — Installation varies by model, so refer to your Team Associated vehicle manual for specific mounting instructions. Generally, shock collars slide onto the shock body and secure into the suspension tower via set screws or similar retention methods. Always ensure proper tightness to prevent shock movement.
- Are these genuine Team Associated parts? — Yes, the AS91928 is the official Team Associated part number, and RC Model Shop stocks only genuine OEM components. Genuine parts ensure proper fitment and maintain your RC car's performance characteristics as originally designed.
