Overview

The PRO Pro-Comp Front/Rear (90mm-95mm) Scaler Shocks for 1/10 Rock Crawlers represent the pinnacle of modern RC suspension technology, engineered specifically for serious rock crawlers and scale enthusiasts who demand uncompromising performance on the most challenging terrain. These premium shocks combine cutting-edge engineering with meticulous craftsmanship to deliver a suspension experience that transforms how your RC crawler performs across jagged rocks, steep climbs, and technical off-camber lines. Whether you're a seasoned competitor fine-tuning your competition rig or a dedicated hobbyist building the ultimate scale crawler, these shocks provide the control, consistency, and reliability you need to conquer any obstacle with confidence.

Pro-Line has engineered these Big Bore Scaler Shocks as the next generation of RC shock technology, representing a significant advancement over previous generations. The large nearly 11mm bore allows these shocks to function correctly as true performance shocks due to the larger oil volume contained within the shock body, delivering smoother damping characteristics and more predictable handling across all terrain types. With their distinctive chrome and black anodising finish and the large Pro-Line logo engraved into the shock cap, these shocks don't just perform exceptionally—they look absolutely stunning on any rig, making them the perfect choice for builders who appreciate the marriage of form and function in premium RC equipment.

If you're searching for the best performing scaler shocks available in the UK RC hobby market, these Pro-Comp shocks deliver everything you need in one exceptional package. From the moment you install them, you'll notice the difference in articulation quality, traction consistency, and overall control that only premium engineering can provide.

Key Features

  • Big Bore Design with Larger Oil Volume — The nearly 11mm bore is significantly larger than standard shock designs, allowing for greater oil volume within the shock body, which dramatically improves damping characteristics and delivers superior performance across rocks and obstacles.
  • CNC Machined Aluminium Components — Every critical component including shock caps, collars, bodies, and bottom caps are CNC machined from premium aluminium to exacting tolerances, ensuring perfect fitment, reliability, and longevity even under extreme rock crawling conditions.
  • Hard Chrome Coated Steel Shock Shafts — The shock shafts feature hard chrome coating which provides exceptional durability, corrosion resistance, and smooth operation through hundreds of compression and extension cycles.
  • X-Ring Seals for Low Friction and Leak Prevention — A single X-Ring seal (replacement 6343-01) serves as the main shaft seal, delivering smooth low-friction action whilst preventing oil leaks that could compromise performance over time.
  • Dual-Rate Single Spring Design — An ingenious all-new dual-rate spring engineered from a single spring saves space, delivers incredible scale looks, and provides performance characteristics that respond perfectly to rocks, bumps, and climbing demands.
  • Captured Lower Spring Perch — The lower spring perch is captured and secured in place, ensuring it always stays where it belongs during your crawling adventures, even during aggressive articulation.
  • Optional +5mm Shock Ends Included — Extra longer shock ends (5mm) are included in the box to increase shock length when needed, giving you flexibility in setup and tuning options.
  • Low Center of Gravity Performance — The compact internally sprung design keeps weight positioned low on your chassis, helping your rig hug the rocks and maintain traction on the steepest ascents and most technical terrain.
  • Droop-Ready Setup Capability — These shocks are easily adjustable for both droop and semi-droop setups, allowing you to fine-tune your crawler suspension for the perfect balance between stability and ground clearance.
  • Slim Profile Minimal Bulk Design — The streamlined profile minimises contact with rocks and obstacles, reducing hang-ups and providing better clearance for extreme approach and departure angles that hardcore crawlers demand.
  • Pre-Assembled Just Add Oil — Like Pro-Line's popular Pro-Spec Scaler Shocks, these come mostly pre-built straight from the box, requiring only shock oil to be added before installation—no complex assembly required.
  • Chrome and Black Anodising Finish — A sleek competition-inspired aesthetic with chrome and black anodised components ensures these shocks look as good as they perform, adding visual appeal to any rig.
  • Optional Tuning Springs Available — If you want to adjust the damping characteristics, optional softer and firmer dual-rate springs are available separately in the Big Bore Scaler Shock Spring Assortment (6343-02).
  • Compatible with Popular 1/10 Crawlers — These shocks are engineered to fit many popular 1/10 scale rock crawlers, making them an excellent upgrade option for existing builds.

Technical Performance

The PRO Pro-Comp Front/Rear (90mm-95mm) Scaler Shocks represent the culmination of professional engineering and real-world testing in the demanding world of 1/10 scale rock crawling. With their nearly 11mm bore diameter, these shocks hold significantly more oil than standard designs, creating a hydraulic system that responds precisely to terrain inputs whilst maintaining consistent damping across the full range of suspension travel. The CNC machined aluminium construction throughout—shock caps, collars, bodies, and bottom caps—ensures every component meets exacting tolerances, eliminating manufacturing variability that could cause inconsistent handling or premature wear. The hard chrome coated steel shock shafts provide not only enhanced durability but also reduced friction compared to uncoated steel, contributing to the smooth, predictable feel that makes these shocks stand out. From the top mounting hole to the bottom mounting hole, these shocks measure 90mm at full extended length and collapse down to approximately 64mm when the rubber bump stop is removed, giving you reliable and repeatable suspension geometry. The X-Ring seal design provides a significant advantage over traditional O-ring seals, offering lower friction during compression and rebound whilst maintaining superior oil retention even during extended crawling sessions. The innovative dual-rate spring design, engineered from a single spring element, provides progressive damping characteristics that respond smoothly to small rock movements whilst maintaining support during aggressive impacts. Optional internal shock limiters (1mm and 2mm plastic limiters) are included in the box, giving you the ability to fine-tune shock travel for different terrain and driving styles. Whether you're tackling vertical walls, side-hill terrain, or rocky technical sections, these shocks deliver the kind of consistent, predictable performance that separates winning rigs from the rest of the field.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between the Pro-Comp Big Bore Shocks and standard Pro-Spec Scaler Shocks? — The Pro-Comp Big Bore Shocks feature a nearly 11mm bore compared to smaller standard designs, meaning they hold significantly more oil and deliver superior damping performance. They also incorporate fully CNC machined aluminium components throughout, hard chrome coated steel shafts, X-Ring seals for reduced friction and better leak prevention, and a premium dual-rate spring design. These enhancements make them the best performing scaler shocks Pro-Line has ever manufactured, justifying the investment for serious crawlers.
  • How do I set up these shocks for my 1/10 rock crawler? — These shocks come mostly pre-assembled and are designed to fit many popular 1/10 rock crawlers. Once you receive them, simply add the appropriate shock oil, then install them on your crawler using the included mounting hardware and either the standard or captured upper pivot balls depending on your mounting preference. The included optional shock limiters allow you to fine-tune suspension travel for your specific terrain.
  • What shock oil should I use? — You'll need to select shock oil with a viscosity appropriate for your terrain and driving style. Thicker (heavier) oils provide more damping resistance, while thinner (lighter) oils allow faster suspension movement. Your specific crawler manufacturer may provide recommendations, or you can experiment to find the feel that works best for your technique.
  • Can I adjust the spring rate on these shocks? — Yes, whilst these shocks come with a standard dual-rate spring, Pro-Line offers softer and firmer alternative springs available in the Big Bore Scaler Shock Spring Assortment (6343-02), allowing you to customise the suspension feel for different terrain or weather conditions.
  • Are these shocks suitable for extreme rock crawling? — Absolutely. These shocks are engineered specifically for hardcore crawlers who demand ultimate control and reliability. The large bore, premium materials, and meticulous manufacturing make them ideal for the most technical and challenging terrain. The X-Ring seals and hard chrome shafts ensure they'll withstand thousands of compression and rebound cycles without losing performance.
  • How do I maintain these shocks? — Rebuild kits and replacement X-Ring seals (6343-01) are available separately, allowing you to perform regular maintenance. After extended use in dusty or wet conditions, flushing and replacing the shock oil will keep them performing at peak efficiency.
  • What vehicles do these shocks fit? — These shocks are compatible with numerous 1/10 rock crawlers including the Axial SCX10 III series, the Axial SCX10 III Pro-Line 1982 Chevy K10 RTR, Axial SCX10 III Base Camp models, Axial SCX10 III Coyote models, Axial SCX10 III Toyota SR5 models, Axial SCX10 III Jeep JT Gladiator with Portals, Axial SCX10 III Jeep CJ-7, and the Axial SCX10 III Early Ford Bronco. Check compatibility before ordering if your vehicle is not listed.
  • What are the extended shock ends used for? — The included +5mm shock ends allow you to increase the overall shock length when you need additional suspension travel or different ride height geometry. This flexibility means you can adjust your crawler's stance and suspension characteristics to suit different terrain challenges.
