The shaft-driven 4WD system employs a sophisticated all-metal driveline with sealed hardened steel bevel differentials and limited-slip capability, ensuring power reaches all four wheels efficiently even during aggressive acceleration and tight cornering at race-winning speeds. The 20.6:1 overall drive ratio has been carefully engineered to optimise the 8s power band, striking the perfect balance between explosive acceleration and sustained high-speed stability. Dimensionally, the XRT measures 798mm in length (including aerodynamic rear wing), 595mm across both front and rear tracks for an ultra-wide stance, with a low-slung 258mm ride height that positions the centre of gravity as low as possible for superior handling response. Ground clearance of 49mm provides adequate suspension travel whilst maintaining the aggressive low-profile aesthetic. The chassis weighs 8.94kg without the body, expanding to 9.54kg with the plastic race body installed, and reaching 10.83kg when fully equipped with both 4s 6700mAh LiPo batteries – this precise weight distribution combined with the low CG design creates a vehicle that carves corners with confidence whilst maintaining traction at triple-digit speeds. The suspension employs GTX machined aluminium threaded body race shocks measuring 173mm front and rear, paired with WideMaxx cold-weather composite suspension arms that maintain performance across temperature ranges. The 7.4 x 3.8-inch Gravix race tyres mount on 4.3 x 5.7-inch wheels, delivering outstanding grip on hard-packed surfaces with minimal rolling resistance for speed and precision. The TQi 2.4GHz radio system includes a 2-channel high-output transmitter with TSM (Traxxas Stability Management), automatically adjusting throttle response to prevent loss of traction during high-speed driving. The 365 oz-in steering servo responds in just 0.17 seconds per 60 degrees at 6.0V, providing the rapid directional input necessary for competitive racing. Everything is sealed against the elements – the VXL-8s ESC is fully waterproof, and sealed ball bearings throughout the drivetrain ensure reliability in wet conditions common to UK racing environments. This is not merely a fast RC truck; it's an engineered racing platform designed for competitive drivers who demand reliability, performance, and the precision handling only 8s brushless power combined with proven mechanical engineering can deliver.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the top speed of the Traxxas XRT and what affects it? — The XRT achieves 60+ mph with dual 4s 6700mAh LiPo batteries and the included optional gearing. The exact speed depends on battery voltage, weight distribution, tyre condition, surface type, and driving technique. Hard-packed surfaces deliver optimal speeds, whilst softer terrain will reduce maximum velocity.
- Is the Traxxas XRT suitable for beginners or only experienced drivers? — The XRT carries a Skill Level 5 rating, indicating it is designed for experienced RC enthusiasts and competitive drivers. The extreme speed and power require advanced throttle control and driving skill to operate safely. Beginners should consider starting with lower-powered models before progressing to 8s brushless RC trucks of this capability.
- What batteries does the XRT need and why dual 4s instead of single 8s? — The XRT utilises dual 4-cell (4s) 6700mAh LiPo batteries configured in series to create an 8s power system (approximately 29.6V nominal). This dual-battery configuration provides several advantages: it balances weight distribution for optimal low centre-of-gravity performance, allows higher discharge rates by splitting current between two packs, improves run time through doubled capacity, and fits neatly into the purpose-designed dual snap-lock battery compartments (186mm x 51mm x 44mm each). Traxxas part #TRX2890X batteries or the complete #TRX2997T Dual 4s Completer Pack are specifically recommended.
- What charger should I use and why does it matter? — The Traxxas EZ-Peak Live 4s-capable charger (model #TRX2971) is recommended because it features integrated iD technology for automatic battery recognition, multiple charging profiles for optimal LiPo care, Bluetooth connectivity for wireless monitoring, and sufficient amperage for efficient charging. Using an appropriate iD charger prevents overcharging, extends battery lifespan, and ensures safe operation of these high-energy 8s systems.
- Is the XRT waterproof and can it be driven in wet conditions? — The VXL-8s electronic speed control is fully waterproof, and sealed ball bearings throughout the drivetrain provide water resistance. However, the motor itself is not fully sealed. Whilst the XRT can handle wet conditions better than unsealed competitors, extended water exposure or submersion should be avoided. After wet driving, rinse components with fresh water and allow proper drying to prevent corrosion.
- What makes the XRT different from other Traxxas high-speed models? — The XRT is specifically engineered as an all-new 1:6 scale platform combining X-Maxx durability with race-truck performance focus. Unlike the massive X-Maxx monster truck, the XRT features a dedicated low-CG race chassis design, revolutionary Gravix hybrid race tyres for hard-packed surfaces, and precision engineering for competitive racing rather than general bashing. The modular construction, patent-pending clipless body, and torque-biasing centre drive represent innovations not found in previous Traxxas high-speed models.
- How long will the batteries last per charge? — Runtime depends on driving style, terrain, and battery capacity. With dual 6700mAh 4s batteries (13,400mAh total capacity), typical runtime ranges from 15-25 minutes of hard competitive driving. Conservative driving extends this to 25-30 minutes. The included optional speed gear may be swapped for alternative gearing to balance speed versus runtime based on your preferred driving style and racing conditions.
- What is Traxxas Stability Management (TSM) and why is it important? — TSM is Traxxas's proprietary traction control technology that automatically adjusts throttle response and brake input to maintain traction during high-speed driving. It prevents spinning out when accelerating hard or turning sharply at extreme speeds, building driver confidence and enabling faster lap times. TSM can be toggled on or off via the transmitter depending on driving conditions and preferences.
- How do I maintain the XRT for reliable long-term performance? — Regular maintenance includes: inspecting sealed ball bearings for dirt and resealing if necessary, checking all fasteners (black oxide hardware resists rust but should be verified); cleaning the Gravix tyres after each session; inspecting the clipless body and bumpers for cracks; monitoring the servo and motor cooling fins; ensuring the VXL-8s ESC remains free from debris; and following the included maintenance guide. The all-metal driveline, whilst durable, should be inspected regularly for wear, particularly the differentials under extreme 8s power loading.
- What optional accessories and upgrades are available? — Traxxas offers a comprehensive range of upgrades including alternative gearing options to adjust the speed versus acceleration balance, replacement Gravix tyres in various compounds for different conditions, upgraded shock absorbers, different spur and pinion gears, suspension arms in different materials, and performance tuning parts. The modular chassis design supports many upgrades without requiring replacement of major components.

Orders are dispatched Monday to Friday only. Some items may take a little longer and if that is the case we will always show the expected delivery time on the product page.
- If your order includes items with different dispatch times we will normally wait and send everything together once all items are in stock. If one of the items is going to take a while we will give you the choice either wait for everything to arrive or let us send the available items now and deliver the rest later. It is up to you.
- We use trusted delivery partners to make sure your order gets to you safely and on time. We use DPD for next working day deliveries and Royal Mail for the 2 day option.
- As soon as your order is on its way we will send you a tracking number by email. If you provide your mobile number at checkout we will also send delivery updates straight to your phone so you can keep an eye on progress.
- If a product is marked as "Dispatched within 3 working days" delivery usually takes around 3 to 5 working days from when your order is placed.
- For customers in Inverness and other parts of the Scottish Highlands deliveries can take up to 2 working days even if you select next day delivery as couriers do not currently offer a guaranteed next day service to those areas.
