It's the kind of equipment that grows with your hobby, providing professional-grade capabilities without unnecessary complexity.
Key Features
- Balance Charge up to 8 Lithium Batteries Simultaneously — This is a game-changer for serious RC enthusiasts who maintain multiple packs. Rather than charging one battery at a time, you can charge up to eight different batteries concurrently, dramatically reducing downtime between charging sessions and maximising your available run time. This feature is particularly valuable during competitions, group outings, or when you're maintaining multiple RC vehicles.
- Support for 1S to 6S Lithium Cells — The charger's broad voltage range means it works with virtually all consumer lithium battery configurations. Whether your RC car UK setup uses a 1S pack for small models, a 3S pack for typical mid-range vehicles, or a larger 6S pack for high-performance applications, the CB86-Plus handles them all seamlessly. This versatility means you won't outgrow the charger as your hobby expands.
- Adjustable Charge Rate from 0.1A to 6A — Complete control over charging speed lets you tailor the charge profile to each battery's needs. Slower charges (0.1A) are gentler on battery chemistry and extend cell lifespan, whilst faster charges (up to 6A) get you back to the track quickly. This flexibility is crucial for maximising battery longevity and performance.
- 156W Maximum Power Output — The substantial 156W power rating allows the charger to deliver charging current efficiently, even when managing multiple batteries simultaneously. This high power capacity means charge times remain reasonable regardless of whether you're charging one pack or eight, making it suitable for demanding RC applications where downtime must be minimised.
- 2.8-Inch TFT Full-Colour Display — The large, bright colour screen provides intuitive visual feedback during every stage of charging. You can easily monitor cell voltages, charge status, temperature, and other critical parameters without needing to decipher cryptic LED indicators or navigate complex menus. The display design prioritises clarity and usability, making battery management straightforward for everyone from beginners to experienced RC competitors.
- Multiple Charging Modes — The charger incorporates three essential modes: balance charge maintains perfect cell equilibrium for maximum battery health and performance; cycle/discharge allows you to fully discharge and recharge batteries for conditioning and maintenance; and storage mode safely charges batteries to an optimal 3.85V per cell voltage for long-term storage, preventing both over-charge and deep discharge damage.
Technical Performance
The RadioLink CB86-Plus represents a significant step up in charging capability and intelligence. At its core, this 156W charger delivers professional-grade performance with a maximum 6A charge rate, allowing you to rapidly replenish depleted lithium packs without unnecessary delay. The charger's engineering emphasises safety and precision, with balanced charging technology that monitors individual cell voltages throughout the charging process. This cell-level monitoring is crucial because lithium batteries perform optimally only when all cells are at precisely the same voltage — any imbalance reduces available capacity, shortens battery lifespan, and can create safety concerns. By actively balancing cells during charging, the CB86-Plus ensures your batteries remain in peak condition through every charge cycle. The support for 1S through 6S lithium packs means the charger adapts to your needs, whether you're working with small-capacity single-cell packs or large multi-cell arrangements. The adjustable charge rate from 0.1A to 6A gives you precise control over charging speed, allowing you to balance the convenience of fast charging against the battery longevity benefits of slower, gentler charge profiles. The intelligent charging modes — balance charge, cycle/discharge, and storage mode — provide comprehensive battery management beyond simple charging. Storage mode, for instance, automatically charges or discharges your batteries to the ideal 3.85V per cell voltage for safe long-term storage, protecting your investment when your equipment sits unused during winter months or between seasons. The compact dimensions (190mm length × 105mm width × 65mm height) and reasonable shipping weight of 0.92kg make the charger practical for both stationary workshop use and portable transportation to competitions and group meetups.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Can the RadioLink CB86-Plus charge multiple batteries at the same time? — Yes, absolutely. The charger is specifically designed to balance charge up to eight lithium batteries simultaneously, making it ideal for RC enthusiasts who maintain multiple packs. This multi-bay capability means you can keep more of your equipment charged and ready, minimising the downtime that comes with charging one battery at a time.
- What battery types does this charger support? — The CB86-Plus is designed specifically for lithium battery packs and supports 1S through 6S lithium cell configurations. This covers virtually all standard lithium batteries used in modern RC cars, drones, and other RC equipment across the UK hobby market. However, it is not suitable for NiMH (nickel-metal hydride) or other non-lithium battery chemistries.
- What does balance charging actually do, and why does it matter? — Balance charging monitors and equalises the voltage of individual cells within your battery pack throughout the charging process. This is important because lithium cells naturally develop voltage differences during use, and if these differences become too large, the battery performs poorly, loses capacity, and can become unsafe. By balancing cells during each charge, the CB86-Plus keeps your batteries in peak condition, extending their lifespan and ensuring consistent performance in your RC vehicles.
- Is the RadioLink CB86-Plus suitable for beginners? — Whilst the charger is powerful and feature-rich, its user-friendly 2.8-inch TFT colour display and intuitive menu system make it accessible to beginners. The pre-programmed modes for balance charge, discharge, and storage take much of the guesswork out of battery management. However, this is a more advanced charger than basic single-bay models, so it's best suited to hobbyists who are actively managing multiple batteries and want professional-grade reliability.
- How long does it take to charge a typical RC battery with this charger? — Charge time depends on the battery capacity and the charge rate you select. With the 6A maximum charge rate, you can charge typical RC batteries in 30 minutes to an hour, depending on capacity. Smaller batteries charge faster, whilst larger packs take longer. The adjustable 0.1A to 6A charge rate lets you prioritise speed or battery longevity as needed.
- What is storage mode, and when should I use it? — Storage mode automatically charges or discharges your batteries to approximately 3.85V per cell, which is the ideal voltage for long-term storage. This prevents both over-charge damage and the risks associated with storing fully depleted batteries. Use storage mode when you're putting your RC equipment away for extended periods, such as during winter months or between racing seasons.
- What makes the CB86-Plus different from cheaper chargers? — The CB86-Plus distinguishes itself through simultaneous multi-battery charging (up to eight packs at once), higher power output (156W), precise cell-level balancing across all cell counts, intelligent charging modes including cycle/discharge and storage functionality, and a large colour display that makes monitoring battery status effortless. Cheaper chargers typically charge one battery at a time, offer lower power, and lack the advanced features needed for serious battery management.
