Overview

The E-Flite 5065 Brushless Motor 800Kv V1200 is a high-quality brushless outrunner motor specifically designed for RC aeroplane applications. This is a precision-engineered component that forms the heart of any electric-powered RC aircraft setup, whether you're flying fixed-wing models or seeking to upgrade an existing aeroplane. As one of the most popular choices for hobbyists and enthusiasts across the UK RC flying community, this motor delivers reliable performance and consistent power delivery for a wide range of aircraft configurations and flying styles.

Built by E-Flite, a trusted name in the RC hobby for decades, the 5065 motor represents excellent value for money and is suitable for both experienced RC pilots and those looking to build their first brushless RC aeroplane. The 800Kv rating provides an ideal balance between speed and torque, making this motor versatile enough for sport flying, training flights, and recreational RC aeroplane use. Whether you're searching for a brushless RC motor for your next build or upgrading from a brushed motor, this 800Kv outrunner is a proven solution that performs consistently across different aircraft types and weight ranges.

This motor uses industry-standard 4mm bullet connectors, making it compatible with a wide range of brushless ESCs and battery configurations commonly used in RC aeroplane setups across the UK. The non-adjustable timing means this is a straightforward plug-and-play solution that requires no technical tuning or adjustment—simply install it, connect your ESC and battery, and you're ready to fly your RC aeroplane.

Key Features

  • Brushless Outrunner Design — The outrunner configuration means the motor's can rotates around a fixed stator, delivering efficient power transfer with minimal heat generation and maximum longevity compared to traditional brushed motors. This design is specifically optimised for RC aeroplane applications where smooth, reliable operation is essential.
  • 800Kv Rating — The 800Kv specification indicates this motor will turn approximately 800 RPM per volt of input, providing an excellent balance between speed and torque for most RC aeroplane configurations. This Kv rating is one of the most versatile for general-purpose RC flying, suitable for everything from leisurely floaters to more spirited sport flying.
  • 4mm Bullet Connectors — Industry-standard 4mm bullet connectors ensure compatibility with the vast majority of brushless ESCs and LiPo battery configurations used in RC aeroplane setups throughout the UK. These connectors provide secure, reliable electrical connections and are easy to disconnect for maintenance or reconfiguration.
  • Non-Adjustable Timing — With fixed timing, this motor is genuinely plug-and-play, requiring no programming, tuning or adjustment after installation. This makes it ideal for RC pilots who want to focus on flying rather than technical setup, and eliminates compatibility issues that sometimes arise with adjustable-timing motors.
  • Proven E-Flite Quality — E-Flite is recognised worldwide for manufacturing reliable, precision-engineered RC components, and the 5065 motor carries that reputation. You can trust this motor to deliver consistent performance flight after flight, season after season.

Technical Performance

The E-Flite 5065 Brushless Motor 800Kv V1200 is engineered to deliver smooth, efficient power for RC aeroplane applications. The brushless outrunner design provides several performance advantages over traditional brushed motors: improved efficiency means less energy wasted as heat, extended operating life thanks to the absence of brush wear, and cleaner power delivery for more responsive aircraft handling. The 800Kv rating sits in the sweet spot for general RC aeroplane flying, offering adequate top-end speed for sport flying whilst maintaining sufficient torque for steady, controlled flight in various conditions. The fixed, non-adjustable timing means the motor's electrical characteristics are optimised from the factory, eliminating the need for ESC programming and ensuring immediate compatibility with standard brushless ESC units. The 4mm bullet connectors are robust and widely used throughout the RC hobby, ensuring you'll have no difficulty finding compatible power systems, ESCs and batteries. This motor is designed to work reliably across a range of LiPo battery configurations commonly used in RC aeroplane setups, and the brushless design means virtually no maintenance is required beyond occasional cleaning of the cooling vents. Whether you're building a new RC aeroplane from scratch or upgrading an existing model, the 5065 motor's combination of proven reliability, straightforward installation and versatile performance characteristics make it an excellent choice for UK RC enthusiasts of all skill levels.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the 800Kv rating and why does it matter for my RC aeroplane? — The Kv rating indicates how many RPM the motor will produce per volt of battery power supplied. An 800Kv motor is a mid-range option that balances speed and torque effectively, making it suitable for a wide variety of RC aeroplane types and flying styles. Lower Kv motors (e.g. 600Kv) produce more torque at lower speeds, whilst higher Kv motors (e.g. 1000Kv) prioritise speed. The 800Kv rating is one of the most versatile for RC aeroplanes, working well for sport flying, trainers, and general recreational aircraft.
  • Will this motor work with my existing ESC and battery? — The E-Flite 5065 uses standard 4mm bullet connectors, which are compatible with virtually all brushless ESCs designed for RC aeroplanes. You'll need a brushless ESC rated for your battery voltage and desired power output. As long as your ESC features 4mm bullet connectors and your battery also has 4mm connectors, this motor will install directly with no compatibility issues.
  • Is the non-adjustable timing a limitation? — No, fixed timing is actually an advantage for most RC pilots. The motor comes optimised from the factory, meaning it's ready to install and fly immediately with no programming or tuning required. This makes it ideal if you want a straightforward, plug-and-play solution. The only time you might want adjustable timing is if you're using an unusually high or low Kv ESC, which is rare in RC aeroplane applications.
  • What type of RC aeroplane is this motor suitable for? — The 800Kv rating and brushless outrunner design make this motor versatile across many RC aeroplane types, including training aircraft, sport flyers, lightweight scale models, and general-purpose recreational aeroplanes. It's particularly well-suited to models in the lightweight to mid-weight range, typically from around 500 grams to 2 kilograms, though the exact suitability depends on your specific airframe, desired flight characteristics and total system weight.
  • How does brushless compare to brushed RC motors? — Brushless motors offer several advantages: they're more efficient (less energy wasted as heat), they require virtually no maintenance, they last significantly longer since there are no brushes to wear out, and they provide cleaner, more responsive power delivery. For RC aeroplanes, brushless is now the industry standard and vastly preferred over brushed motors by serious hobbyists.
  • What maintenance does this motor require? — One of the great advantages of brushless motors is minimal maintenance. Occasionally check the cooling vents are clear of debris, and ensure the bullet connectors remain clean and corrosion-free. Unlike brushed motors, there are no brushes to replace and no timing to adjust, making this a truly low-maintenance option.
