This is a ready-to-fly RC helicopter that brings together cutting-edge technology and innovative design to deliver an exceptional flying experience for intermediate pilots ready to progress their skills. Whether you're stepping up from a fixed-pitch trainer or looking for a high-performance brushless RC helicopter in the UK, the InFusion 180 represents a significant leap forward in durability, responsiveness and ease of operation.
What makes the Blade InFusion 180 truly stand out in the competitive RC helicopter market is its revolutionary oversized direct-drive power system. Unlike traditional helicopter designs that rely on complex gearboxes, the InFusion 180 eliminates gears driving the main rotor entirely, delivering instant power response whilst maintaining a beautifully simple mechanical design with fewer parts to wear, break or maintain. This direct-drive approach means you get the responsiveness of a high-performance machine combined with the reliability of a simpler design—a rare combination in ready-to-run RC helicopters.
The InFusion 180 is particularly suited to intermediate pilots who have mastered basic helicopter flight and want to develop their collective pitch flying skills with a machine that grows with them. Its progressive flight modes and renowned SAFE® technology make it forgiving enough to learn on, whilst the brushless motor and advanced components deliver the performance and precision that competitive pilots demand. This is an authorised Blade helicopter from Horizon Hobby, built to exacting standards and backed by comprehensive support and genuine parts availability through RC retailers across the UK.
Key Features
- Oversized Direct-Drive Power System — The elimination of gear-driven main rotor systems is a game-changer in helicopter design. No gears means instant throttle response, reduced mechanical complexity, fewer moving parts that can fail, and ultimately lower maintenance costs and longer component lifespan. This innovative approach delivers the kind of instant power response that pilots expect from high-performance machines.
- SAFE® Technology with Progressive Flight Modes — Blade's renowned SAFE® (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) technology provides self-levelling modes that make learning to fly a collective pitch helicopter significantly easier than traditional machines. The progressive flight mode system allows you to grow with the helicopter as your skills develop, starting with assisted modes and progressing to unrestricted aerobatic flight as you become more confident.
- Panic Recovery System — This clever safety feature recovers the helicopter to a level attitude with the flip of a switch, providing crucial peace of mind during learning flights or if you lose orientation in the air. Whether you're a nervous beginner or just want an extra safety net, panic recovery is an invaluable feature on any learning helicopter.
- Smart Technology and Telemetry — The InFusion 180 features integrated smart technology that provides valuable telemetry feedback when paired with Smart-capable Spektrum transmitters. This means you can monitor battery voltage, motor temperature and other vital flight data in real time, helping you fly smarter and safer.
- Metal Gear Digital Swashplate Servos — The helicopter is equipped with durable, high-speed responsive metal gear servos that deliver the precision and reliability needed for collective pitch flight. These aren't plastic-geared budget servos; they're engineered for durability and rapid response.
- Innovative Materials and Construction — The fuselage and frame components feature an innovative fusion of carbon fibre, ABS plastic, and aluminium alloys. This three-material approach delivers outstanding rigidity and durability whilst keeping weight optimised for performance. Carbon fibre provides strength where it counts, aluminium offers corrosion resistance, and ABS plastic absorbs impact energy—the best of all worlds.
- High Visibility Design — The vivid canopy and bright main rotor blades and tail boom make it remarkably easy to maintain visual orientation in the air, even at distance. This might seem like a small detail, but orientation is crucial for safe helicopter flying, and bright colours significantly reduce the risk of disorientation and crashes.
- Fully Assembled and Ready to Fly — The InFusion 180 arrives completely assembled from the factory, meaning there's no complex build required. You simply unbox it, add your battery, bind your transmitter and you're ready to fly—perfect for those who want to get airborne quickly rather than spending weeks building.
- DSMX®/DSM2® Radio Compatibility — The helicopter is compatible with any 6+ channel DSMX® or DSM2® transmitter, giving you flexibility in your radio choice and the ability to use existing transmitters from Spektrum.
Technical Performance
The Blade InFusion 180 is powered by a 2007-3900KV brushless motor, which delivers smooth, responsive power across the entire RPM range. The brushless motor technology ensures consistent performance flight after flight, with minimal maintenance compared to brushed alternatives. The helicopter features metal gear digital swashplate servos that provide the high-speed precision response essential for collective pitch flight manoeuvres. The fuselage measures 394mm in length with a 65mm width and 118mm height, making it a compact yet stable platform. The innovative direct-drive system means the brushless motor drives the main rotor without any intermediate gearbox, eliminating power losses and mechanical complexity whilst delivering instant throttle response. The construction combines carbon fibre chassis components for strength, aluminium alloys for corrosion resistance and durability, and ABS plastic frame elements for impact absorption. This multi-material approach ensures the InFusion 180 can withstand the crashes and hard landings that inevitably happen during the learning process. The helicopter is designed to work with 450–850mAh 3S 11.1v 30C+ LiPo batteries with IC2 connectors, providing balanced flight times and power delivery. When you compare this to other ready-to-run collective pitch helicopters available in the UK market, the InFusion 180's combination of direct-drive simplicity, durable construction and intelligent flight mode progression makes it exceptional value for intermediate pilots.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Blade InFusion 180 suitable for helicopter beginners? — The InFusion 180 is rated as Skill Level 2, meaning it's designed for pilots who have already mastered basic fixed-pitch helicopter flight or equivalent RC experience. It's not a complete beginner's helicopter, but its SAFE® technology and progressive flight modes make it far more forgiving than traditional collective pitch machines. If you've never flown an RC helicopter before, you should start with a fixed-pitch trainer first, but if you have some experience and want to progress to collective pitch flight, the InFusion 180 is an excellent choice.
- What makes the direct-drive system better than traditional gear-driven helicopters? — Traditional helicopter designs use a complex gearbox to reduce the motor RPM from thousands down to the few hundred RPM needed for the main rotor. This introduces friction, mechanical losses, and many moving parts that can wear or break. The InFusion 180's oversized direct-drive system eliminates the gearbox entirely, delivering instant throttle response, reducing parts count, and requiring less maintenance. You get better responsiveness and reliability with fewer components to fail.
- What battery does the Blade InFusion 180 need and what's the flight time? — The InFusion 180 requires a 450–850mAh 3S 11.1v 30C+ LiPo battery with an IC2 connector. The battery is not included, so you'll need to purchase one separately. Flight times vary depending on your piloting style and battery capacity, but expect approximately 8-12 minutes of flight time on a typical 600mAh 3S battery, with a 30-60 minute charge time depending on your charger.
- Can I use my existing Spektrum transmitter with the InFusion 180? — Yes, the InFusion 180 is compatible with any 6+ channel DSMX®/DSM2® Spektrum transmitter. If you already own a Spektrum radio, you simply need to bind the helicopter to it. For full access to SAFE® technology, telemetry features and smart functions, we recommend using a Smart-capable Spektrum transmitter, but non-smart transmitters will work for basic flight.
- How durable is the InFusion 180 for learning flights and crashes? — The InFusion 180 is specifically engineered for durability using a three-material construction strategy: carbon fibre provides strength where impact forces are highest, aluminium components resist corrosion and provide structural rigidity, and ABS plastic absorbs impact energy to reduce damage. The direct-drive system also means fewer complex parts to break compared to traditional designs. That said, helicopter flying involves crashes, so we recommend having spare parts in stock such as blades, servo arms and frame components.
- What is SAFE® technology and why does it matter? — SAFE® (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) is Blade's advanced flight stabilisation system that uses sensors to monitor the helicopter's attitude and automatically correct excessive angles that could lead to crashes. In beginner modes, SAFE® automatically returns the helicopter to level flight if you release the control sticks, making it far more forgiving for learning. As you progress, you can disable SAFE® functions and unlock full aerobatic capability, so the helicopter grows with your skills.
- Is this helicopter waterproof or weather-resistant? — The manufacturer's specifications do not indicate waterproof or weatherproof ratings. We recommend flying in dry conditions and avoiding rain, wet grass or water puddles. After flying in dusty or dirty conditions, rinse the helicopter gently with fresh water (avoiding the electronic components) and allow it to dry completely before storing.
- What spare parts and accessories are available for the InFusion 180? — Blade produces a comprehensive range of genuine spare parts for the InFusion 180 including main rotor blades, tail rotor blades, servo arms, bearings, frame components and more. These are available through authorised Blade retailers like RC Model Shop. We recommend building a basic spare parts kit including replacement blades and servo arms before you start flying regularly.
