Key Features
- Coreless Motor Design — The coreless motor construction provides significantly faster response times and smoother operation compared to traditional coil motors, resulting in more precise control inputs that translate directly to better handling performance on track or off-road. This is particularly important for competitive driving where milliseconds matter.
- Metal Gears — Unlike plastic gear alternatives, the all-metal gear construction resists stripping, wear and damage even under extreme load conditions, ensuring consistent performance over extended service life and reducing the need for frequent servo replacements. This investment in durability pays dividends for serious RC enthusiasts.
- 9.5kg-cm Torque Output — This substantial torque rating ensures the servo can handle responsive steering inputs, suspension adjustments, and throttle control without hesitation or lag, giving you the confidence that your control inputs will be executed precisely every time, whether you're cornering hard or making subtle trim adjustments.
- Ultra-Fast 0.09s Transit Time — Operating at an exceptional 0.09 seconds per 60 degrees at 6.0V, this servo ranks among the fastest in its class, delivering snappy, immediate response to your radio transmitter inputs and ensuring your RC model reacts instantly to your commands without delay or lag.
- Low-Profile Form Factor — The compact 40.5 x 20.3 x 28.0mm dimensions and 44.5g weight make this servo perfect for tight mounting spaces where standard-sized servos simply won't fit, opening up design possibilities for low-slung bodies, compact chassis layouts, and space-efficient RC vehicles without performance compromises.
- Digital Control Technology — The digital servo provides superior positional accuracy, programmable endpoints, and enhanced signal processing compared to analogue alternatives, allowing for fine-tuned control and customisation options that serious RC builders and competitors demand.
- Complete Accessory Package — The inclusion of multiple servo horns in different configurations, mounting rubbers for vibration dampening, and mounting hardware means you have the flexibility to install this servo in virtually any RC application without purchasing additional accessories, saving money and reducing frustration.
- Metal and Plastic Hybrid Case — The combination of metal and plastic construction in the servo case provides an optimal balance between lightweight design and structural durability, protecting the internal components whilst maintaining the low weight necessary for high-performance RC vehicles.
Technical Performance
The Etronix ET2036 represents a masterclass in servo engineering, combining cutting-edge technology with proven reliability. At its core sits a coreless motor that spins faster and more efficiently than conventional motor designs, eliminating the cogging effect and dead zones that plague older servo technology. This coreless architecture directly enables the blistering 0.09-second transit time that makes this servo so responsive and precise. The metal gears driving the output shaft are precision-manufactured to exacting tolerances, ensuring smooth engagement and minimal backlash — critical factors for accurate steering control in competitive RC cars UK. The 9.5kg-cm torque specification means this servo delivers genuine pulling power, capable of handling the demands of aggressive steering inputs, suspension adjustments, and complex multi-servo control schemes without faltering or binding. Operating at 6.0V (typical NiMh battery voltage), this servo achieves its full performance specification without requiring exotic power sources, making it compatible with standard RC battery setups. The digital control system uses advanced signal processing to interpret your radio receiver inputs with extreme precision, enabling programmable endpoints and enhanced positioning accuracy that simply cannot be achieved with analogue servo technology. For serious RC enthusiasts building competition-grade vehicles or hobbyists demanding nothing but the best, the ET2036's engineering pedigree and performance credentials are unmatched in its class. The metal gear construction specifically addresses the weak point of cheaper servos — plastic gear wear and stripping — ensuring this servo will maintain peak performance season after season, justifying the investment through reliability and longevity.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between a coreless motor servo and a standard servo? — Coreless motor servos like the ET2036 use a motor design without an iron core, which eliminates cogging, reduces inertia, and enables significantly faster response times. This results in the 0.09-second transit time you see here, compared to 0.12-0.15 seconds for standard servos. The trade-off historically was durability, but modern designs like this one combine coreless speed with metal gears for reliability.
- Is the Etronix ET2036 suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. Whilst the ET2036 is certainly capable enough for experienced competitors, its robust construction, included accessories, and straightforward installation make it equally suitable for beginners building their first custom RC car. The metal gears mean it will withstand the learning curve of rougher handling, and the fast response actually helps newer drivers learn smoother control inputs.
- What battery voltage does this servo require? — The ET2036 is rated for 6.0V operation, which is the standard voltage for NiMh battery packs used in most RC vehicles. It will operate on 4.8V (four NiMh cells) but will deliver reduced torque and slightly slower transit times. Never exceed 6.0V as this will damage the servo's internal electronics.
- How does the low-profile design affect performance? — The low-profile form factor (40.5 x 20.3 x 28.0mm) is purely a design feature that doesn't compromise performance — it simply allows installation in vehicles with limited vertical space. All performance specs (9.5kg torque, 0.09s speed) are maintained regardless of the compact size.
- Can I use this servo for throttle control as well as steering? — Yes, the ET2036 can be used for any standard servo function including steering, throttle control, suspension adjustment, or auxiliary functions. Its 9.5kg torque rating makes it suitable for almost any RC servo application where you need fast, responsive control in a compact package.
- What makes metal gears better than plastic gears? — Metal gears are significantly more durable and resistant to stripping under load. Plastic gears, common in budget servos, gradually wear and can strip their teeth under sustained pressure or repeated hard acceleration/braking inputs. The metal gears in this servo ensure consistent performance throughout the servo's lifespan, making it a genuinely long-term investment.
- Is this servo waterproof? — The source material does not specify waterproof or weatherproof ratings for this servo. For wet-weather driving or water-crossing applications, you should consult the full manufacturer datasheet or contact RC Model Shop directly to confirm suitability.
- What is the difference between digital and analogue servos? — Digital servos like the ET2036 use integrated circuit boards to process control signals with greater precision than analogue servos, enabling programmable endpoints, faster update rates, and superior positional accuracy. This translates to noticeably better control response and the ability to fine-tune servo behaviour to match your exact preferences.
