Technical Performance
The PRM 1/10 1967 Dodge Dart Clear Body represents premium engineering optimised specifically for Vintage Trans-Am Class racing and vintage-style RC touring car competition. Manufactured from crystal clear polycarbonate, the body combines the structural integrity necessary for repeated track sessions with the optical clarity needed for achieving professional painted finishes. The single-piece construction eliminates assembly complexity whilst maintaining exceptional rigidity, and the lightweight polycarbonate material ensures minimal impact on overall vehicle weight distribution and handling characteristics. The body's dimensions are precisely engineered to fit 1/10 scale 190mm wheelbase touring cars, with specific measurements ensuring proper proportions relative to chassis width and height. The included paint-then-peel overspray film represents a significant practical advantage for home painters and competitive teams alike, as it eliminates the need for complex masking of windows and transparent areas. The protective film can be simply peeled away after painting, revealing clean, professional-looking glazed areas without the risk of paint overspray. Construction quality is evidenced by the realistic undercuts moulded into the bodywork, which would otherwise be extremely difficult to achieve and require secondary machining or hand-finishing on inferior quality bodies. The body meets all Vintage Trans-Am Class regulations, making it suitable for competitive racing applications where rules compliance is mandatory. Whether you're building a showpiece display model or a competition-ready race car, this clear body provides an excellent foundation that punches well above its price point in terms of detail, engineering quality, and track-proven design.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is this body suitable for beginners to RC car painting and customisation? — Yes, this body is excellent for beginners because the included paint-then-peel overspray film and window masks simplify the painting process significantly. You don't need to worry about protecting windows precisely with traditional masking tape; simply mask the overspray film and peel it away after painting. The straightforward one-piece design means there are no complex assembly steps, and the clear polycarbonate allows you to see how your paint design will look during the painting process itself.
- What chassis does this body fit? — This body is designed specifically for 1/10 scale touring cars with a 190mm wheelbase that are set up for Vintage Trans-Am racing rules. It will fit any 1/10 touring car chassis meeting these specifications, including popular platforms from brands like Yokomo, Tamiya, Awesomatix and other VTA-compatible manufacturers. Before purchasing, confirm your touring car is 190mm wheelbase to ensure perfect fitment.
- What paint should I use on this polycarbonate body? — You should use polycarbonate-specific paint formulated for RC body finishing. Lacquer-based polycarbonate paints from brands like Tamiya, Parma and others are specifically engineered to adhere to polycarbonate without causing crazing or cracking. Avoid standard acrylic or automotive paints not formulated for polycarbonate, as these may damage the body or peel off during use.
- Can I use this body for casual bashing or only for competitive racing? — Whilst this body is engineered to VTA Class racing specifications, it's perfectly suitable for casual recreational driving and track sessions. The polycarbonate construction is durable for repeated use, and the vintage Trans-Am aesthetic appeals to enthusiasts whether they're competing or simply enjoying the classic styling. However, as a competition-grade body designed for touring car racing, it's less suitable for extreme bashing or off-road use compared to short-course truck or buggy bodies.
- Why does this come unpainted as a clear body? — Clear bodies allow you to customise the paint scheme completely, whether you want authentic vintage Trans-Am race liveries, personal sponsor graphics, or original designs. This gives you far more creative freedom than pre-painted bodies. Additionally, clear bodies often cost less than pre-painted versions, and skilled painters can achieve superior finishes through personal painting effort.
- How long does it take to paint and finish this body? — Painting time varies based on your paint method (airbrush, spray cans, or spray booth), desired complexity, and drying time between coats. A basic single-colour finish typically takes 2-4 hours including drying time. More complex multi-colour schemes with decals and clear coat protection may require 6-12 hours spread across multiple days to allow proper drying between coats. Always follow specific paint manufacturer recommendations for drying times.
- Is the decklid spoiler necessary? — The included decklid spoiler is optional for aesthetics and track tuning. It can enhance downforce and stability at high speeds on certain tracks, or be left off for a cleaner vintage appearance. The mounting hardware is included, so installation is straightforward if you choose to use it. Some drivers prefer running without it for reduced weight or a particular visual aesthetic.
- What makes this body different from modern touring car bodies? — The critical difference is the vintage 1967 Dodge Dart styling, which contrasts sharply with modern curvaceous touring car bodies from contemporary manufacturers. This body is designed specifically for Vintage Trans-Am racing, celebrating classic American motorsport heritage from the 1960s era. If you love vintage automotive styling and retro racing aesthetics, this body provides authentic period-correct appeal that modern designs simply cannot match.
