Overview
The ARRMA Shock Set with 16mm Bore, 87mm Length and 2000cSt Oil represents an essential replacement component for serious RC enthusiasts running ARRMA 1/7 scale vehicles. Whether you're enjoying street bashing with an ARRMA Infraction, pushing limits with a Felony, or chasing top speeds with a Limitless, having a quality shock set on hand ensures your RC car UK setup remains competitive and responsive. This pre-assembled shock absorber set delivers professional-grade performance right out of the box, eliminating the need for complex assembly and allowing you to get back to racing or bashing in minutes.
ARRMA has engineered these shocks to provide the durability, adjustability and precision that modern brushless RC cars demand. The 2000cSt silicone oil specification offers a balanced damping profile suitable for mixed terrain driving, whilst the 16mm bore diameter and 87mm centre-to-centre length place these shocks firmly in the 1/7 scale performance category. For UK RC car enthusiasts who understand that suspension tuning is crucial to chassis performance, this ready-to-run shock set eliminates guesswork and delivers consistent, predictable handling characteristics across a variety of driving conditions.
What sets this offering apart is the comprehensive tuning potential included in the box. Rather than being locked into a single damping curve, you receive additional piston options that allow fine-tuning of shock response to match your specific driving style, track conditions or terrain. This level of customisation, combined with the robust engineering and high-quality materials, makes the ARRMA Shock Set an excellent choice for anyone serious about maximising their 1/7 scale RC vehicle's potential.
Key Features
- High-quality anodised aluminium shock bodies and components — The shock bodies, caps, seal caps and preload adjusters are all manufactured from anodised aluminium, which provides excellent corrosion resistance and a professional finish whilst remaining lightweight. This material choice ensures your shocks will withstand countless bashing sessions and maintain their appearance over extended use.
- Strong 4mm stainless steel shock shafts — The substantial 4mm diameter stainless steel shafts offer exceptional durability and resistance to bending or twisting during aggressive driving. Stainless steel's superior corrosion resistance means these shafts maintain performance even after exposure to wet conditions, mud or salt spray during outdoor RC car UK adventures.
- Tough composite shock rod ends and spring retainers — Rather than relying on plastic components that may crack under stress, ARRMA has engineered these critical connection points using composite materials that balance strength with weight. This construction ensures reliable power transmission from your suspension springs to the chassis whilst maintaining the lightweight characteristics essential for 1/7 scale performance.
- Supplied fully assembled and ready to bolt on — These shocks arrive completely assembled with shock oil pre-filled and ready for immediate installation. After selecting and fitting your preferred spring, you simply bolt them onto your vehicle and start driving. This removes assembly complexity and reduces the risk of oil leakage or incorrect assembly that can occur with shock kits requiring manual filling.
- Included shock boots for shaft protection — Shock boots shield the piston rod from dirt, water and debris that could otherwise enter the shock body and compromise performance. These protective covers are especially valuable if you regularly bash in dusty or wet environments, as they significantly extend the service life of your shocks.
- Additional tuning pistons supplied for customisation — The set includes four blank tuning pistons, plus pre-drilled options (two 8 x 1.4mm hole and two 8 x 1.3mm hole variants), allowing you to adjust damping characteristics without purchasing additional components. Different piston hole sizes alter oil flow and therefore suspension stiffness, enabling you to dial in the perfect balance for your specific driving style and conditions.
- Sway bar pivot balls included — Four spare sway bar pivot balls are provided, ensuring you have replacement anti-roll bar connection points if needed. These small but crucial components maintain proper anti-roll bar geometry and smooth operation.
- 2000cSt silicone shock oil — The pre-filled 2000cSt silicone oil provides a proven damping profile that suits a wide range of 1/7 scale ARRMA models and driving conditions. This viscosity represents a middle ground between softer (lower cSt) and stiffer (higher cSt) options, making it ideal for both track racing and general bashing with a brushless RC car.
Technical Performance
These ARRMA shocks represent genuine engineering designed for the demands of modern 1/7 scale RC competition and recreation. The 16mm bore diameter is the standard specification for ARRMA's performance lineup, providing adequate fluid volume for consistent damping whilst maintaining lightweight characteristics. The 87mm centre-to-centre length positions these as mid-length shocks, suitable for vehicles requiring balanced suspension travel and a lower overall ride height compared to longer alternatives. Built from anodised aluminium and stainless steel throughout the critical load-bearing components, these shocks deliver the material science and durability expected from a factory-backed racing brand. The 4mm shaft diameter provides exceptional resistance to deflection under the significant lateral and vertical forces generated by 1/7 scale vehicles running brushless motors and delivering genuinely quick acceleration. The composite rod ends and spring retainers maintain the performance advantage of these precision components whilst offering superior durability compared to purely plastic construction. Pre-filled with 2000cSt silicone shock oil, they arrive ready for immediate use without the complexity of field-filling, which eliminates potential air bubbles, contamination or incorrect oil volumes that compromise handling. The inclusion of multiple piston options with different hole configurations (blank, 1.4mm and 1.3mm) delivers genuine tuning capability, allowing experienced RC enthusiasts to adjust damping rates and tailor suspension response to their specific requirements. Whether you're pursuing competitive racing with your ARRMA or enjoying recreational bashing, these shocks provide the consistent, predictable performance that separates quality suspension components from budget alternatives.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which ARRMA models are these shocks compatible with? — These 16mm bore, 87mm length shocks are designed for 1/7 scale ARRMA vehicles including the Infraction 6S, Felony 6S, Limitless 6S and Limitless 8S (both standard and AVC variants). Always verify fitment with your specific model before purchasing, as different chassis configurations may use alternative shock lengths or specifications.
- Are these shocks suitable for beginners using ARRMA brushless RC cars? — Yes, these shocks are appropriate for all skill levels. The pre-assembled, pre-filled design removes complex assembly requirements, whilst the included tuning pistons provide adjustment options for experienced drivers. Beginners simply install them with standard pistons and enjoy consistent handling without requiring technical shock knowledge.
- What is the difference between the included tuning pistons? — The shocks come with four blank pistons and two pairs of pre-drilled options: 1.4mm hole and 1.3mm hole variants. Larger hole diameters allow faster oil flow, creating softer damping; smaller holes restrict flow and increase damping stiffness. Experimenting with different piston options lets you fine-tune suspension response to match your driving style and local terrain conditions.
- Can I use different oil viscosities in these shocks? — These shocks are pre-filled with 2000cSt silicone oil, which provides a balanced damping profile suitable for mixed driving. You can purchase alternative viscosity oils (such as 1000cSt for softer damping or higher cSt options for stiffer response) from RC retailers to customise performance, though this requires draining and refilling the shocks, which is an advanced maintenance task.
- How often should I replace these shocks? — With proper maintenance and regular shock oil inspection, quality ARRMA shocks remain serviceable for extended periods. However, if you notice oil leakage, poor damping response, or bent shafts following impacts, replacement or rebuild is necessary. The modular design allows you to replace individual shocks rather than requiring complete suspension overhauls.
- Are these shocks waterproof? — Whilst the anodised aluminium and stainless steel construction resist corrosion, the shock seals are designed to keep internal oil contained and external moisture out during normal use. Avoid prolonged submersion or high-pressure water exposure, and rinse with fresh water after driving in salt-water or heavily contaminated environments to maintain seal integrity.
