- ESC Compatibility — When paired with the Hobbywing QuicRun-10BL60-Sensored ESC, this motor and controller combination creates an expertly matched system that delivers exceptional performance. The excellent integration between ESC and motor produces a smooth and linear power band across the entire throttle range.
- Proven Performance Track Record — This motor has established itself as a reliable performer in the RC community. Users report smooth operation, responsive handling when integrated with compatible ESCs, and bags of torque suitable for various driving scenarios and vehicle types.
Technical Performance
The Hobbywing QUICRUN 3650 G2 represents serious engineering designed to deliver consistent performance in demanding RC applications. The motor features a 10.5T winding configuration—meaning the armature completes 10.5 turns per rotation—which strikes an excellent balance between torque output and maximum speed capability. The 3600 KV rating indicates the motor will spin approximately 3600 RPM per volt of battery input, making it suitable for 2S and 3S LiPo battery packs, the most common power sources in modern RC cars available across the UK. With a compact 36mm outer diameter and 52.8mm length, this motor fits the standard 540-size motor mount found on countless 1/10 scale RC platforms. The 3.17mm shaft diameter is the industry standard for 1/10 scale vehicles, ensuring compatibility with virtually all brushless RC car components including pinions, bells, and motor mounts. Weighing just 186 grams, the motor contributes minimal unsprung weight to your RC car, helping maintain responsive handling characteristics. The 2-pole magnetic configuration and fixed timing mean this motor operates at fixed advance, delivering consistent performance without requiring timing adjustments. At full load, the motor draws a modest 2.8 amps under no-load conditions, indicating efficient operation and lower power draw compared to less efficient designs. The precision-machined rotor is perfectly balanced, eliminating vibration that could otherwise be transmitted through your vehicle's chassis. The silicon O-ring heat management system conducts thermal energy from the motor core directly to the aluminium motor case, ensuring efficient cooling during extended driving sessions. This engineering approach ensures the motor maintains consistent performance throughout the entire battery discharge curve, delivering reliable power from pack connection through final use.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Hobbywing QUICRUN 3650 G2 motor good for beginners stepping up to brushless power? — Yes, this is an excellent motor for users transitioning from brushed to brushless RC cars. The sensored design eliminates one of the main complaints beginners have with sensorless motors—unpredictable cogging and inconsistent low-speed power delivery. The motor's linear, smooth control characteristics make it forgiving and predictable, allowing new brushless users to develop their driving skills with consistent feedback. The rebuildable design also means beginners can learn basic motor maintenance, such as bearing replacement and rotor inspection, without the intimidation factor of complex motor engineering.
- What battery does the QUICRUN 3650 G2 need? — This motor is designed for 2-cell and 3-cell LiPo batteries (2S and 3S configurations). A 2S LiPo will provide around 7200 RPM maximum (based on the 3600 KV rating and 2 × 3.7V nominal), whilst a 3S battery will produce approximately 10,800 RPM. Most 1/10 scale RC cars in the UK use either 2S packs for maximum torque and control, or 3S packs for higher speeds. Choose based on your vehicle weight, gear ratio, and intended use—lighter vehicles and racing applications typically benefit from 3S, whilst basher trucks often prefer 2S for added control and durability.
- What is the difference between the sensored QUICRUN 3650 G2 and a sensorless alternative? — Sensored motors like the QUICRUN 3650 G2 use Hall effect sensors to provide constant feedback about rotor position to the ESC, allowing perfect synchronisation at all speeds. This eliminates cogging (jerky, hesitant low-speed acceleration) and provides smooth throttle response from zero to full speed. Sensorless motors use back-EMF (electromagnetic feedback) to determine rotor position, which works well at higher speeds but can be unpredictable at low speeds and during rapid acceleration from standstill. For best performance, sensored motors should be paired with sensored-capable ESCs, like the Hobbywing QuicRun-10BL60-Sensored. The QUICRUN 3650 G2's sensored design makes it superior for technical courses, competitive racing, and any application where smooth, predictable control matters.
- Can I use the QUICRUN 3650 G2 with non-Hobbywing ESCs? — Yes, the motor's Hall sensor output is a standard signal compatible with sensored ESCs from any manufacturer. However, Hobbywing specifically engineered the QUICRUN 3650 G2 to work optimally with their QuicRun ESC line, particularly the 10BL60-Sensored controller. When using ESCs from other brands, ensure your ESC documentation confirms sensored motor compatibility. For best results matching performance and reliability, the Hobbywing pairing is recommended.
- How does the 10.5T winding compare to other turn ratings? — Motor turn count directly affects the motor's KV rating and performance characteristics. The 10.5T winding in this motor represents a balanced configuration—lower turn counts (like 7.5T or 8.5T) produce higher KV ratings and more top-end speed but less torque, whilst higher turn counts (13.5T or above) provide lower KV and more torque but reduced maximum speed. The 10.5T / 3600 KV rating makes this motor versatile for street and track use, suitable for 2S and 3S batteries, and appropriate for a wide range of vehicle weights and driving styles.
- Is this motor waterproof? — The motor itself is not fully waterproof, though it is splash-resistant. The sealed construction and quality build keep water out of vital components under normal splashing conditions, but this should not be submerged or used in wet conditions where water ingress is likely. For true waterproof applications, consult Hobbywing's waterproof motor range.
- What maintenance does the QUICRUN 3650 G2 require? — The motor requires minimal maintenance if run in clean conditions. Periodically inspect the rotor for debris, ensure bearings rotate freely, and check the sensor module connection. The removable end bell design allows easy access for inspection. Replace bearings if they develop noise or resistance, and inspect the rotor for damage. Under normal conditions with proper storage (dry environment, protected from dust), this motor will provide thousands of hours of reliable operation.
