Technical Performance

The Hobbywing XERUN V10 G3 is a 2-pole sensored brushless motor engineered specifically for 1/10 scale 2WD off-road racing and drift applications. With a 4800 KV rating and 7-turn rotor configuration, this motor delivers exceptional torque characteristics ideal for stock-class competition. The motor operates on 2S LiPo battery configuration with a no-load current of just 3.5 amps, demonstrating impressive efficiency. At maximum power output of 364 watts, the motor can draw up to 106 amps under full load, making it suitable for high-performance racing scenarios. The motor measures 35.9mm in outer diameter with a length of 51.2mm, featuring a 3.17mm shaft diameter and 13.3mm shaft length for compatibility with standard 1/10 scale vehicles. The high-precision Hall effect sensor enables smooth commutation across the entire performance range, whilst the 20 to 50-degree adjustable mechanical timing allows drivers to optimise power delivery characteristics to suit different track conditions and racing styles. Built from premium materials including heat-resistant copper windings and precision bearings, this motor maintains peak performance and durability through intense racing demands. The reduced weight of just 161 grams compared to older generations means less rotating mass, contributing to improved acceleration and reduced power loss. The asymmetric bearing design—with an oversized front bearing and optimised rear bearing—provides excellent load handling whilst maintaining smooth, low-resistance operation that serious racers expect from a competition-grade brushless RC motor.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the Hobbywing XERUN V10 G3 motor suitable for beginners or is it only for competition racers? — Whilst this motor is engineered for competitive stock-class racing and features sophisticated technology like Hall effect sensors and adjustable mechanical timing, it is not specifically designed as a beginner-friendly motor. The XERUN V10 G3 is best suited to intermediate and advanced RC racers who understand brushless motor tuning, timing adjustment, and have experience with sensored motor systems. Beginners would benefit from starting with simpler sensorless brushless motors before progressing to this competition-grade unit.
  • What battery type and configuration does the XERUN V10 7T motor require? — The XERUN V10 G3 is designed to run on 2S LiPo (2-cell lithium polymer) battery configuration. The motor's 4800 KV rating is optimised for this voltage, providing the balance of speed and torque needed for stock-class racing. Using a higher cell count battery (3S or more) would exceed the motor's voltage rating and potentially cause damage, so strict adherence to 2S battery specification is essential.
  • What is the difference between the XERUN V10 G3 and the previous generation V10 G2 motor? — The G3 generation represents a significant evolution over the G2. The G3 delivers a 16% improvement in KV rating and a 4% boost in torque output compared to the G2 stock specification, translating to faster acceleration and higher top-end speed. The G3 is also substantially lighter, weighing 161 grams versus the G2's considerably heavier construction, a reduction of approximately 11% that improves vehicle handling and balance. The G3 also features an improved asymmetric bearing design with a 26% larger front bearing for better load capacity and a 6% smaller rear bearing for lower resistance. These enhancements make the G3 the superior choice for competitive racing applications.
  • Can I adjust the motor timing on the XERUN V10 G3, and what range is available? — Yes, the XERUN V10 G3 features stepless adjustable mechanical timing that can be finely tuned from 20 to 50 degrees, allowing you to optimise power delivery characteristics for different track conditions. The rear end plate features anti-slip timing marks that ensure your timing adjustment remains stable and doesn't shift during racing, giving you confidence that your setup will stay consistent throughout competition.
  • What makes the cooling system effective on this motor? — The XERUN V10 G3 employs a specialised shell design that exposes the stator core and laminations directly to airflow rather than enclosing them, significantly improving heat transfer. Additionally, large machined holes are integrated into the front and rear end plates to create maximum airflow paths through the motor. This multi-faceted cooling approach keeps the motor at optimal operating temperatures even during extended racing sessions, maintaining performance and extending component lifespan.
  • Is the XERUN V10 7T motor legal for competitive racing in the UK? — Yes, the XERUN V10 G3 is fully approved by BRCA (British Radio Car Association) and EFRA (European Fully Radio Association), the two primary racing standards bodies for RC racing in the UK and Europe. The motor is also certified compliant with IFMAR and ROAR standards, and carries RoHS, CE, and FCC certification, making it suitable for sanctioned competitive racing events across the UK and internationally.
  • Can I replace or swap the end plates on this motor? — The XERUN V10 G3 comes with small-hole end plates designed for off-road applications, which effectively prevent sand and dirt from entering the motor. If you wish to switch to on-road racing or drift competition where heat dissipation is more critical and there's less risk of sand ingress, you can purchase and install large-hole end plates separately. This flexibility allows you to optimise the motor for your specific racing discipline.
  • What makes the Hall effect sensor important in the XERUN V10 G3? — The built-in Hall effect sensor works in conjunction with the brushless ESC to provide precise commutation timing, delivering smooth, linear power across the entire RPM range. Combined with the high-precision balanced rotor construction, this sensor ensures there are no dead spots in throttle response, providing consistent acceleration and allowing fine throttle modulation that competitive racers depend on for precise control during racing.
