Frequently Asked Questions
- What is DEO technology and how does it improve my RC aircraft's performance? — DEO stands for Driving Efficiency Optimization, Hobbywing's proprietary technology that delivers rapid and smooth throttle response whilst simultaneously improving driving efficiency. This means your brushless motor receives perfectly optimised power delivery that translates directly to better stability and flexibility during all phases of flight, from gentle cruising to aggressive aerobatic manoeuvres. The efficiency improvements result in longer flight times from the same battery charge, and the lower operating temperatures mean more reliable sustained high-performance flying sessions.
- Can I program this ESC without purchasing a separate program box? — The FlyFun 110A HV V5 can be programmed using the separate Hobbywing LED Program Box (model 30501003, sold separately). Unlike some ESCs in the FlyFun range, this particular model does not support transmitter stick-based programming or direct transmitter configuration. Whilst you can operate the ESC without programming it, using the LED Program Box allows you to optimise settings for your specific aircraft configuration, weight, and flying style, which significantly improves performance and reliability.
- What battery pack does the FlyFun 110A HV V5 require? — This brushless ESC is designed for high-voltage LiPo battery packs ranging from 6S (6-cell) through to 14S (14-cell) configurations. The high-voltage capability means you can use the latest high-energy-density battery technology, which provides more power in a lighter package compared to traditional lower-voltage setups. A 6S LiPo battery (22.2V nominal) is a popular choice for mid-sized aircraft, whilst larger scale models and high-performance competition aircraft often use 8S, 10S, 12S, or even 14S battery packs for maximum power delivery.
- Is the FlyFun 110A HV V5 suitable for EDF jet aircraft? — Yes, this ESC is specifically designed to work with EDF jet aircraft. The very soft start-up mode is engineered specifically for EDF configurations to prevent sudden motor surge when you first apply throttle. The 110A continuous and 140A peak current capability is appropriate for most EDF jet setups, and the responsive throttle characteristics delivered by DEO technology provide the precise control needed for stable EDF flight. The reverse brake capability is also valuable for EDF aircraft landing operations, helping to shorten sliding distance upon landing.
- How much does the FlyFun 110A HV V5 weigh and will it impact my aircraft's balance? — The ESC weighs only 180g, making it lightweight enough for installation in a broad range of aircraft designs without significantly impacting your centre of gravity calculations. The compact dimensions (92.7 x 45.6 x 27mm) allow flexible mounting positions within your airframe, giving you options for optimal weight distribution. For most mid-sized and larger scale aircraft, the ESC weight is negligible compared to your motor, battery, and airframe components.
