This modular approach means you can add cooling capacity only when needed.
- 6V 4A Switch-Mode BEC Output — The onboard battery elimination circuit provides stable, regulated 6-volt power to your receiver and servos, eliminating the need for a separate power supply. The 4-amp capacity handles most servo requirements comfortably.
- Compact, Lightweight Design — At just 75 grams and measuring 45.9 x 34.7 x 26.5mm, the QuicRun 0880 is remarkably compact and lightweight, fitting easily into space-constrained chassis designs without adding significant weight to your RC vehicle.
Technical Performance
The Hobbywing QuicRun WP 0880 Dual Motor Brushed ESC represents serious engineering excellence for serious RC drivers. Built around a robust switching circuit architecture, the ESC delivers continuous current handling of 80 amps with peak bursts reaching 400 amps, making it equally comfortable driving two modest 540-size brushed motors in synchronisation or a single high-performance 775-size motor on a dual-motor setup. The unit accepts input power from 2-4 cell lithium polymer batteries (7.4V to 14.8V) or 5-12 cell NiMH packs (6V to 14.4V), providing flexibility across battery chemistries and voltages favoured by different RC car UK enthusiasts. Motor compatibility encompasses standard 540, 550, and 775-size brushed motors, with specific turn-count recommendations varying by battery configuration: minimum 12T on 2S LiPo, 18T on 3S LiPo, or 24T on 4S LiPo for optimal performance and motor longevity. The switch-mode BEC (battery elimination circuit) outputs a stable 6 volts at 4 amps, sufficient for typical receiver and servo requirements without auxiliary power supplies. Construction throughout emphasises reliability and weather resistance; the waterproof and dust-proof housing protects all circuitry from environmental contamination whilst the compact 75-gram weight and minuscule 45.9 x 34.7 x 26.5mm footprint integrate seamlessly into space-critical chassis designs. The innovative dual-motor output architecture connects both motors in parallel for synchronous operation, a critical advantage for crawlers and multi-motor platforms where independent motor control would introduce unwanted directional instability. Advanced DEO (Dynamic Energy Optimisation) and freewheeling technologies work in concert with adjustable PWM frequency to deliver exceptionally smooth throttle linearity and predictable motor response across the entire power range, whilst the fine-tunable drag brake system offers granular control over engine braking characteristics from gentle retarding force to aggressive stopping power.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Hobbywing QuicRun 0880 suitable for dual-motor rock crawlers and scale vehicles? — Absolutely. This ESC is purpose-designed for dual-motor applications. Its 80-amp continuous rating, sophisticated brake control, and waterproof construction make it ideal for rock crawlers, hardcore scale trucks, and multi-motor platforms where synchronised motor control is essential. Real-world users report successful operation in demanding crawl scenarios using oversized 45-turn motors on 3S LiPo without overheating or cutouts.
- What battery does the QuicRun 0880 need? — The ESC accepts either lithium polymer (LiPo) batteries from 2 cells to 4 cells (7.4V minimum to 14.8V maximum) or nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries from 5 cells to 12 cells (6V to 14.4V maximum). Common configurations include 2S LiPo (7.4V), 3S LiPo (11.1V), and 4S LiPo (14.8V). Motor turn-count recommendations vary by cell count: 2S demands minimum 12T motors, 3S requires minimum 18T, and 4S needs minimum 24T brushed motors to avoid over-revving.
- Can I use this ESC with a single motor or must I run two motors? — Yes, the QuicRun 0880 works perfectly well with a single motor; simply connect one motor set and leave the other pair unconnected. When operating a single motor, the dual-output architecture provides no disadvantage, though it's not optimised for single-motor applications where models with higher current ratings might be more efficient.
- Is this waterproof ESC suitable for all-weather RC driving? — Yes. The waterproof and dust-proof design specifically protects against water ingress and environmental contamination, making it suitable for wet terrain driving, muddy conditions, and use in rain. However, as with all electronics, avoid submersion and allow proper drying time if exposed to saltwater environments.
- How do I programme this ESC? — The QuicRun 0880 supports basic configuration via the onboard SET button for essential settings. For comprehensive programming of all 15 parameter items, you'll need to connect a Hobbywing LED Program Box (sold separately) to the dedicated PRG/FAN port. This modular approach lets you upgrade to advanced programming when you're ready.
- Can I add an external cooling fan? — Yes. The separate PRG/FAN port on the ESC is designed specifically to power an external cooling fan, which maximises thermal performance during extended running sessions or summer operation. This is optional but recommended if you run your ESC hard for long periods.
- What's the difference between this and single-motor QuicRun ESCs? — The key difference is the dual-output architecture designed specifically for simultaneous dual-motor operation. This concentrates all motor control logic into one compact unit with intelligent synchronisation between outputs, ideal for vehicles like crawlers that depend on perfectly matched motor response. Single-motor ESCs can't provide this synchronisation.
- Does the QuicRun 0880 work with my RC receiver? — Yes, it works with any standard RC receiver using conventional servo-type throttle output. The ESC accepts a standard PWM throttle signal from your receiver and controls both motors in parallel synchronisation.
