Overview

The Team Associated Silicone Diff Fluid 40,000cSt (AS5468) is a premium silicone-based differential fluid specifically formulated for RC cars that require a 40,000cSt viscosity rating. Whether you're an experienced RC enthusiast in the UK or someone just getting started with RC car hobby, maintaining your differential with the correct fluid is absolutely essential for smooth, predictable handling and longevity of your vehicle. This fluid is engineered to provide consistent performance across a wide range of driving conditions, making it an indispensable maintenance product for any serious RC car owner.

Differential fluid plays a critical role in the drivetrain of any RC car, controlling the rate at which your inside and outside wheels turn during cornering. Using the correct viscosity ensures that your vehicle handles predictably, maintains traction, and reduces wear on internal differential components. Team Associated is a world-renowned manufacturer of high-performance RC cars and components, and this differential fluid meets their exacting standards for quality and performance. Whether you're preparing your RC buggy, truck, or touring car for competitive racing or casual weekend bashing, the AS5468 is the genuine, manufacturer-approved choice that will keep your differential operating at peak efficiency.

For RC enthusiasts across the UK looking to maintain their vehicles properly, choosing manufacturer-approved fluids like this Team Associated product ensures compatibility with your specific model and guarantees the performance characteristics you need for consistent driving dynamics. This silicone-based formula is compatible with a wide range of Team Associated RC vehicles, making it a versatile choice for anyone with multiple cars in their collection.

Key Features

  • Silicone-Based Formula — This fluid is manufactured using high-quality silicone, which provides superior stability and consistency compared to standard mineral oils, ensuring your differential performs reliably across varying temperatures and driving conditions during those extended RC sessions.
  • 40,000cSt Viscosity Rating — The precise 40,000cSt viscosity specification is engineered to provide the ideal balance of differential lock-up and speed-sensitive performance, allowing your RC car to maintain predictable cornering behaviour and optimal traction control for both competitive racing and recreational driving.
  • Team Associated Genuine Product — As an officially approved Team Associated component with part number AS5468, you can be confident this fluid meets the manufacturer's exacting quality standards and will perform exactly as intended in your RC vehicle.
  • Optimal Differential Performance — Using the correct differential fluid viscosity is crucial for maintaining the precise mechanical behaviour that chassis engineers have tuned into your RC car, ensuring that handling characteristics remain consistent and predictable lap after lap.
  • Long-Lasting Formula — This silicone-based fluid resists breakdown and degradation better than inferior alternatives, meaning your differential will maintain consistent performance characteristics throughout extended driving sessions and across multiple race days.
  • Universal RC Car Compatibility — The 40,000cSt specification is a standard viscosity used in many Team Associated RC vehicles, including buggies, trucks, and touring cars, making this an essential consumable product for maintaining a fleet of RC vehicles.

Technical Performance

The Team Associated Silicone Diff Fluid AS5468 is engineered to deliver precise differential behaviour in RC cars through its carefully formulated 40,000cSt silicone base. Silicone-based fluids offer superior thermal stability compared to standard mineral oils, which means your differential will maintain consistent locking characteristics even during intense driving sessions when temperatures in the gearbox can rise significantly. The 40,000cSt rating represents a medium viscosity that provides an excellent balance between differential lock-up during aggressive cornering and speed-sensitive performance that allows wheels to slip slightly during high-speed turns. This specific viscosity has been chosen by Team Associated engineers as the optimal specification for their range of competition and recreational RC cars. The formula resists oxidation and shearing, which means it maintains its performance characteristics over extended periods and multiple use sessions. For RC enthusiasts in the UK who demand consistent, predictable handling from their RC vehicles, this specification is essential maintenance product that should be part of your regular vehicle servicing routine.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What viscosity differential fluid does my Team Associated RC car need? — Different Team Associated models require different differential fluid viscosities depending on their suspension geometry, motor power, and intended use. The 40,000cSt specification is a popular mid-range viscosity used in many models. Consult your specific vehicle's instruction manual or contact our RC Model Shop team to confirm the correct viscosity for your particular car.
  • Why is choosing the correct differential fluid viscosity important for RC cars? — The differential fluid viscosity directly affects how your RC car handles during cornering and acceleration. Too thin a fluid and your differential will lock up too quickly, making the car difficult to turn; too thick and it won't lock enough, causing unpredictable traction loss. The 40,000cSt viscosity provides the balanced performance that Team Associated engineers have tuned into their vehicles.
  • Is Team Associated Silicone Diff Fluid suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. If your RC car requires a 40,000cSt differential fluid, this Team Associated product is the perfect choice regardless of your experience level. Using manufacturer-approved fluids is actually one of the best practices for beginners to follow, as it ensures your car performs as designed and helps you develop consistent driving skills.
  • How often should I change my differential fluid? — This depends on your driving conditions and frequency. After particularly dusty or wet driving sessions, you may want to inspect the fluid for contamination. For regular recreational driving, most RC enthusiasts change their differential fluid every 4-6 months or annually as part of seasonal maintenance. Competitive racers may change it more frequently to ensure optimal performance.
  • Can I use this fluid in any RC car? — This fluid is specifically formulated for Team Associated RC vehicles that specify a 40,000cSt viscosity. While silicone fluids of this viscosity are used across the RC hobby, always consult your vehicle manual to confirm the correct specification before purchase to ensure compatibility.
  • What is the difference between silicone-based and mineral-based differential fluids? — Silicone-based fluids, like this Team Associated product, offer superior thermal stability and consistency across a wider temperature range compared to mineral oils. Silicone resists breakdown better and maintains its viscosity more reliably during extended driving sessions, making it the preferred choice for serious RC enthusiasts who demand consistent, predictable performance.
