Overview

The ARRMA Motor Heatsink 5687 V2 (Z-ARA390306) is an essential cooling accessory designed for RC enthusiasts who demand maximum performance and motor longevity from their RC cars. Whether you're running a high-performance brushless motor in your RC vehicle or pushing your motor to its limits during competition or weekend bashing sessions, this heatsink plays a critical role in maintaining optimal operating temperatures. Motor heat is one of the biggest enemies of brushless motor performance, efficiency, and lifespan, which is why investing in quality cooling solutions is essential for any serious RC hobbyist in the UK.

This V2 iteration of ARRMA's motor heatsink represents refined engineering specifically tailored for use with 5687-sized motors. The heatsink works by dramatically increasing the surface area available for heat dissipation, allowing your motor to run cooler and maintain consistent performance throughout extended driving sessions. Cooler motors deliver better throttle response, more consistent power delivery, and significantly extended motor life—making this an intelligent upgrade for anyone running an ARRMA RC car or compatible brushless motor setup.

ARRMA's reputation for quality RC components and accessories is well-established among the ready to run RC community and serious racers alike. This motor heatsink is manufactured to the same exacting standards as the rest of ARRMA's product range, ensuring perfect fitment and reliable performance. For RC car owners looking to protect their investment and maximise their motor's potential, this heatsink is an indispensable addition to any RC setup in the UK.

Key Features

  • V2 Design Evolution — The V2 designation indicates this is an improved second-generation heatsink, engineered with refined cooling geometry and enhanced heat transfer efficiency compared to the original design, meaning your motor stays cooler for longer during intense driving conditions.
  • Perfect 5687 Motor Compatibility — Specifically engineered for 5687-sized brushless motors, this heatsink offers precision fitment that ensures optimal contact between the heatsink and motor can, maximising heat transfer efficiency and eliminating any performance-compromising gaps or misalignment.
  • Extended Heat Dissipation Surface — The heatsink dramatically increases the available surface area for heat dissipation, allowing ambient air to absorb motor heat far more effectively than the motor can alone, translating to lower operating temperatures and improved performance consistency.
  • Durable Construction — ARRMA components are built to withstand the demanding environment of competitive racing and aggressive off-road driving, meaning this heatsink is engineered for reliability and longevity rather than being a disposable aftermarket part.
  • Easy Installation — Designed as a straightforward bolt-on accessory, the motor heatsink installs without requiring complex modifications or special tools, making it an accessible upgrade even for hobbyists who prefer to maintain their own RC vehicles.

Technical Performance

Motor cooling is absolutely critical for maintaining consistent performance in any brushless RC vehicle, and the ARRMA Motor Heatsink 5687 V2 Z-ARA390306 addresses this essential requirement with proven engineering. When brushless motors operate at high loads—whether during competitive racing, aggressive bashing, or extended driving sessions—they generate significant heat as a natural byproduct of electrical resistance and mechanical friction. Without adequate cooling, this heat can degrade motor performance, reduce throttle response consistency, and ultimately shorten motor lifespan through component stress and material degradation. The V2 design of this heatsink maximises cooling efficiency through optimised fin geometry and expanded surface area, allowing the motor to maintain lower operating temperatures and consequently deliver more consistent power throughout your driving session. The heatsink is engineered to fit 5687-sized brushless motors with precision, ensuring maximum contact surface area and optimal thermal transfer. ARRMA's commitment to manufacturing quality means this accessory is constructed to the same standards as complete ready to run RC cars, guaranteeing reliability and durability even in demanding conditions. Whether you're running your RC car in muddy conditions, high-temperature environments, or pushing extended throttle inputs, this heatsink provides the thermal management your motor needs to perform at its best.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What size motor is this heatsink designed for? — This heatsink is specifically engineered for 5687-sized brushless motors. The 5687 designation refers to the motor dimensions, and using the correctly-sized heatsink ensures optimal fitment and cooling performance without any gaps or misalignment.
  • Will this heatsink work with any brushless motor? — No, this heatsink is precision-engineered for 5687-sized motors only. Using an incorrectly-sized heatsink will result in poor fitment and compromised cooling performance. Always verify your motor size before purchasing, and consult ARRMA's compatibility charts if you're unsure.
  • How much cooler will my motor run with this heatsink? — The exact temperature reduction depends on ambient conditions, driving style, and motor load, but heatsinks typically reduce motor operating temperature by 10-20 degrees Celsius under sustained high-load conditions. This temperature reduction translates to improved throttle response consistency, better power delivery, and significantly extended motor lifespan.
  • Is this suitable for beginners? — Whilst this is an accessory rather than a complete RC vehicle, installing a motor heatsink is straightforward enough for hobbyists of any experience level. If you already own an RC car with a 5687 motor and want to extend its lifespan whilst improving performance, this is a sensible upgrade that doesn't require advanced mechanical skills.
  • What is the difference between the V2 and the original 5687 heatsink? — The V2 designation indicates this is an improved second-generation design with refined cooling geometry and enhanced thermal transfer efficiency. ARRMA's iterative design process means the V2 represents lessons learned from real-world usage, making it a superior cooling solution compared to earlier versions.
  • How do I install this heatsink? — Installation involves mounting the heatsink directly onto your 5687 motor using the provided attachment points. Detailed installation instructions should be included with your heatsink, and ARRMA's UK customer support can provide guidance if you need assistance.
