Technical Performance
The Futaba T26SZ Pro represents the culmination of decades of RC transmitter engineering expertise from one of the industry's most respected manufacturers. The transmitter weighs 920 grams including battery, delivering a balanced, comfortable feel in your hands during extended flying sessions. The physical dimensions of 190mm length × 64mm width × 205mm height have been carefully optimised to provide excellent ergonomics without creating excessive width that would feel uncomfortable during long flights. The CNC-machined aluminium gimbals represent premium engineering, with non-contact magnetic potentiometers offering extraordinarily smooth stick movement that feels responsive and precise. These magnetic sensors eliminate the wear and creep associated with traditional sliding contact potentiometers, ensuring that after hundreds of hours of flying, your stick feel will remain as sharp and reliable as day one. The fully externally-adjustable design means you can modify the throttle stick ratchet setting from smooth self-centring spring action through to full mechanical detent, adjust the throw and tension, and even modify stick length to suit your personal preference, all without tools or internal disassembly. The dual-display system combines a large 4.3-inch HVGA transflective colour touch screen for intuitive main menu navigation with a dedicated 3.0-inch reflective LCD sub-display that provides instant telemetry information visibility. The transflective LCD technology ensures the main display remains clearly visible even in bright sunlight, critical for outdoor flying at UK airfields and flying sites. The 7.4-volt 2100mAh lithium-ion battery provides exceptional runtime for extended flying sessions, while the integrated USB-C charging system offers convenient recharging using standard power sources. The FASSTest 26-channel protocol represents Futaba's latest frequency-hopping spread-spectrum technology, providing secure, interference-free operation at 2.4GHz with the included R7214SB receiver, which offers excellent range and reliability. The inclusion of multiple protocol support (FASSTest26, FASSTest18, FASSTest12, S-FHSS and T-FHSS) ensures compatibility with a vast library of existing Futaba receivers, making the T26SZ Pro a future-proof investment that will work with receivers you may already own or acquire in the future.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between the Futaba T26SZ Pro and the standard T26SZ? — The T26SZ Pro is a premium version of the acclaimed T26SZ, featuring a distinctive eye-catching metallic finish exterior, fully externally-adjustable precision CNC aluminium gimbals with black anodised sticks, and a high-quality premium aluminium carry case. The Pro variant represents Futaba's commitment to premium build quality and durability, positioned strategically between the mid-range T16IZS and the flagship T32MZ-WC models. The internal protocol and feature set remain largely similar, but the Pro version's physical quality and aesthetic appeal are noticeably superior, making it the choice for pilots who value premium engineering and presentation.
- How many receivers can this transmitter control simultaneously? — The T26SZ Pro can manage multiple receivers across different aircraft simultaneously through the model memory system. Each of the 30 model memory slots can store a complete configuration for a different aircraft, and you can switch between models instantly using the dedicated model selection buttons. However, only one receiver will be active at any given moment during flying — you cannot control multiple aircraft simultaneously from this single transmitter. This is standard for all single-stick transmitter designs used in RC aviation.
- Is the T26SZ Pro suitable for fixed-wing aircraft only, or can it also fly helicopters and gliders? — The T26SZ Pro is a universal air transmitter fully capable of controlling fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, gliders and any other airframe type. It includes 13 different fixed-wing aircraft type configurations, 8 helicopter swash types, and full support for glider-specific functions such as airbrake sequencing and variable flap management. The transmitter's 26-channel capacity and extensive mixer system allow it to handle the complex control requirements of modern helicopters and aerobatic fixed-wing models equally well, making it a genuinely versatile system for any RC pilot.
- What battery does the T26SZ Pro use and how long does it take to charge? — The transmitter uses a 7.4-volt 2100mAh lithium-ion battery pack, which is included in the box. The exact charge time is not specified in the technical documentation, but modern lithium-ion packs of this capacity typically charge within 2-3 hours using a standard USB-C power source. The included USB-C charge lead allows charging from any compatible USB power adapter, USB power bank or vehicle USB socket, providing genuine convenience for field charging between flying sessions at UK airfields and flying clubs.
- How many channels does this transmitter have, and what do the 24+2 mean? — The T26SZ Pro provides 26 channels of control, configured as 24 standard proportional channels plus 2 additional channels, frequently referred to as the 24+2 configuration. The standard 24 channels are proportional stick-controlled channels used for primary aircraft control (ailerons, elevator, throttle, rudder and numerous auxiliary functions), while the additional 2 channels are typically reserved for two-position or three-position switch functions. In practice, all 26 channels are fully flexible and can be configured as proportional or switch-based according to your aircraft requirements.
- Does this transmitter include a receiver, or do I need to purchase one separately? — The T26SZ Pro includes one R7214SB receiver in the box, making it a complete ready-to-use system. The R7214SB is Futaba's high-specification surface/air receiver featuring multiple channel outputs and excellent failsafe handling. However, if you wish to operate multiple aircraft or purchase additional receivers for backup or future aircraft builds, replacement R7214SB receivers are available separately at affordable prices through UK RC retailers.
- What is the S.BUS2 system and why is it important? — S.BUS2 is Futaba's digital serial bus protocol that allows multiple servos, gyro units and telemetry sensors to be connected to the receiver using a single digital cable, dramatically reducing wiring complexity compared to traditional PPM systems. Where a conventional setup might require 12 individual servo connections from the receiver, S.BUS2 consolidates all these devices onto a single three-wire connection. This not only simplifies installation and reduces weight on your aircraft, but also enables full telemetry feedback from all connected devices back to the transmitter's display, allowing you to monitor voltage, gyro gyration rates and other sensor data in real-time during flight.
- Can I use this transmitter to control aircraft I've built previously with different radio systems? — The T26SZ Pro can control any aircraft equipped with a compatible Futaba receiver supporting one of its multiple protocols (FASSTest26, FASSTest18, FASSTest12, S-FHSS or T-FHSS). If your existing aircraft use different brand transmitters, you would need to upgrade the receivers to Futaba units. However, the inclusion of multiple legacy protocol support (S-FHSS, T-FHSS) means the T26SZ Pro will work with most older Futaba receivers still in use at UK flying clubs, making it an excellent choice if you're upgrading from an older Futaba system.
- How does the trainer system work, and what would I need to set it up? — The built-in wireless trainer system allows you to link the T26SZ Pro with another compatible Futaba transmitter for instruction purposes. One transmitter operates as the student station and one as the instructor station. The instructor can instantly take control by pressing the trainer switch, allowing safe hand-over between instructor and student pilot. To use this feature, both transmitters must be compatible Futaba units, and you would typically require a trainer cable or wireless trainer module. This is ideal for RC flying clubs in the UK where experienced instructors work with developing pilots.
- What types of telemetry data can the T26SZ Pro receive and display? — The T26SZ Pro's integrated telemetry system supports 14 different sensor types, including temperature sensors, RPM sensors (both magnetic and optical pickup types), altitude sensors, GPS position data, voltage monitors for main and auxiliary batteries, receiver battery voltage monitoring, current sensors for power consumption monitoring, and full flight data logging. When combined with compatible Futaba sensors and the S.BUS2 system, you can monitor comprehensive real-time flight data directly on the transmitter's displays. This level of telemetry integration is extraordinarily valuable for optimising aircraft performance, diagnosing mechanical issues and maintaining detailed records of your flying.
- Is the T26SZ Pro waterproof or weather-resistant? — The technical specifications do not mention any specific waterproof or weather-resistant rating for the transmitter itself. It is designed as a precision electronic device and should be treated with appropriate care to avoid exposure to rain or moisture. The included premium aluminium carry case provides protection during storage and transport. However, during operation in outdoor conditions at UK flying fields, you should avoid exposing the transmitter to direct rainfall. The R7214SB receiver is designed for aircraft use and, whilst robust, should be sealed appropriately within your aircraft structure using heat-shrink tubing or protective boxing to guard against moisture ingress.
- Can I customise the transmitter layout and switch configuration? — Yes, the T26SZ Pro provides significant customisation options. Four of the shoulder toggles can be replaced with your choice of two-position, three-position or momentary-action switches according to your personal flying preferences. The stick adjustments are extensive, allowing modification of ratchet settings, throw lengths, tension and tilt entirely from the external housing. The four rear slider controls are paired and can be assigned to any function within the mixer system, allowing you to customise proportional control assignments to match your aircraft design and personal preferences. This level of customisation is unusual in transmitter design and reflects Futaba's commitment to ergonomic flexibility.
- How does the transmitter's sub trim system work, and why is 240-step resolution important? — Sub trim is a fine adjustment that shifts the neutral position of a servo without affecting the maximum throw range. The T26SZ Pro provides 240 steps of resolution per channel, far exceeding basic transmitters which might offer 5-10 steps. This ultra-precise adjustment allows you to achieve perfectly centred control surfaces with minimal input, critical for maintaining consistent aircraft behaviour and reducing workload during flight. The sub trim balance function helps symmetrise adjustments across multiple channels, ensuring that paired control surfaces (ailerons, elevators) respond equally to input.
