Overview
The Louise RC MFT MT-Rocket 1/8 Monster Truck Tyre Set represents premium performance upgrades for serious RC enthusiasts and competitive drivers in the UK. These pre-mounted, competition-grade tyres are specifically engineered for 1/8 scale monster trucks, delivering the grip, durability and responsiveness that separates weekend bashers from race-ready setups. If you're running an ARRMA Kraton 6S, Traxxas Sledge or any compatible 1/8 monster truck platform, these wheels and tyres will transform your handling characteristics and acceleration performance across multiple terrain conditions.
Louise RC has built a reputation for manufacturing tyres that compete at the highest levels of RC motorsport. The MT-Rocket speed series represents their dedication to soft compound technology that provides exceptional traction while maintaining longevity through repeated use. Whether you're navigating a skid pan, attacking a track, or bashing through outdoor terrain, this tyre set delivers the performance characteristics that experienced RC car UK drivers demand from their equipment.
This complete wheel and tyre package arrives pre-glued and ready to bolt onto your monster truck's hex hubs. No assembly, no additional tools, no waiting—just install and drive. That convenience factor makes this an ideal upgrade for those looking to improve their RC car without committing hours to wheel preparation and tyre mounting.
Key Features
- MFT Micro Fibre Compound Technology — The tyres utilise Louise RC's proprietary Micro Fibre Technology rubber compound, which provides significantly enhanced grip levels compared to standard rubber formulations, allowing your monster truck to corner harder and accelerate faster out of turns.
- Soft Compound Racing Grade — Classified as a soft compound tyre, these deliver maximum traction across racing and competitive scenarios, making them ideal for drivers who prioritise grip over tyre longevity in pursuit of lap time improvements.
- Pre-Mounted and Pre-Glued — The tyres arrive fully assembled on black nylon composite rims and securely glued, eliminating hours of preparation work and allowing you to get on track immediately after unboxing.
- Dual Offset Configuration — Each set includes wheels configured with both 0-inch offset and 1/2-inch offset options, giving you flexibility to adjust your monster truck's stance, track width and handling balance between front and rear axles.
- 17mm Hex Removable Adapters — The 17mm hex fittings are removable, providing compatibility with a wide range of 1/8 monster truck platforms from major manufacturers and allowing you to swap between different wheel sets as needed.
- Foam Cut Inserts Included — Each tyre includes precision-cut foam inserts that provide damping, support and protection during impacts, essential for maintaining tyre shape and performance across extended driving sessions.
- Professional Black Finish — The nylon composite rims feature a clean black colour that complements virtually any monster truck body colour scheme and projects a professional, competition-ready appearance.
- Substantial Sidewall Construction — At 145mm diameter and 88mm width, these tyres provide aggressive tread patterns and substantial sidewall thickness that absorb impacts, resist punctures and maintain structural integrity through demanding driving conditions.
Technical Performance
The Louise RC MFT MT-Rocket tyres deliver performance metrics that align with competitive racing standards for 1/8 scale monster trucks. Each wheel and tyre assembly weighs 370 grams, providing a balanced mass distribution across your vehicle's four contact points. The 145mm diameter and 88mm width dimensions deliver a rolling circumference that translates engine power efficiently into forward motion whilst maintaining predictable handling characteristics. The 4.4-inch (112mm) rim bead diameter ensures secure tyre seating on the nylon composite rims, critical for preventing tyre drift and maintaining consistent grip through sustained driving sessions. The 75mm rim width provides appropriate sidewall support whilst accommodating the substantial 88mm tyre width. These specification points matter because together they create a geometric foundation that translates motor power, steering inputs and weight transfer into measurable lap time improvements. The soft compound formulation excels in racing conditions where tyre temperatures remain elevated and where maximum grip takes priority over tyre life. The foam cut inserts provide both vertical compliance for small bumps and structural support that prevents over-flexing during hard cornering. This balanced engineering makes the MT-Rocket set suitable for competitive track driving, weekend circuit racing, and challenging off-road bashng where grip at the limit matters more than durability across hundreds of casual driving hours. The removable 17mm hex adapters integrate with a wide ecosystem of 1/8 monster truck platforms, making these tyres a versatile upgrade across multiple vehicle platforms without requiring adapter purchases or modifications.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between soft, medium and hard tyre compounds? — Soft compound tyres generate maximum grip when heated and perform best in racing and competition scenarios where tyre temperatures stay elevated throughout driving sessions; medium compounds balance grip and durability for general driving; hard compounds last longer but provide less grip, making them better for casual bashing where you drive longer sessions without significant tyre warm-up. The Louise RC MFT MT-Rocket soft compound excels in racing but will wear faster with casual use.
- What does MFT Micro Fibre Technology mean and why does it matter? — MFT stands for Micro Fibre Technology, Louise RC's proprietary rubber formulation that incorporates microscopic fibres into the tyre compound. These fibres increase surface area contact with the track, enhancing grip levels compared to standard rubber. This matters because it directly translates to better traction during acceleration, improved cornering speeds, and faster lap times when you're driving competitively.
- Why do these wheels come with two different offsets? — The 0-inch and 1/2-inch offset options allow you to adjust your monster truck's track width (distance between left and right wheels) and stance. Different track widths affect handling balance, turning radius, and weight transfer characteristics. You can experiment with offset combinations to dial in your vehicle's handling for your specific driving style and track layout.
- Are these tyres suitable for beginners? — These are competition-grade soft compound tyres designed for experienced drivers and racers who understand tyre management and handling setup. Beginners may find soft compound tyres wear quickly during learning phases and may prefer medium compounds that balance durability with grip. However, if you're a beginner with a high-quality monster truck and commitment to improving, these tyres will help you progress faster by providing the grip necessary to learn advanced driving techniques.
- What is the foam insert and why is it included? — Foam cut inserts are precision-shaped pieces of closed-cell foam inserted inside the tyre before mounting. They provide cushioning during impacts, support the tyre sidewalls during hard cornering, and prevent the tyre from over-flexing. The inserts are critical for racing applications because they maintain consistent tyre shape and performance throughout driving sessions, directly affecting lap time consistency.
- How long do soft compound tyres typically last? — Soft compound tyre life varies significantly based on driving intensity, track surface and ambient temperature. In racing conditions with warm track temperatures, expect soft compound tyres to require replacement after 10-20 minutes of hard driving. For casual weekend bashing with lower intensity, they may last longer. The trade-off is that the soft compound provides superior grip during that lifespan compared to harder compounds.
- Can I use these tyres on other RC vehicle scales? — No, these are specifically engineered for 1/8 scale monster trucks. The 145mm diameter and 88mm width are calibrated for 1/8 scale proportions. Using them on other scales would result in incorrect ground clearance, handling characteristics, and speedometer calibration. Stick to 1/8 scale platforms with 17mm hex hubs for proper fitment.
- Are the rims nylon or aluminium? — The rims are constructed from nylon composite material rather than aluminium. Nylon provides adequate strength for racing applications whilst offering the advantage of being easier to repair if damaged, lighter than metal alternatives, and more forgiving during impacts. Many racers prefer nylon rims for these practical benefits despite the weight penalty of metal options.
