Key Features
- Sensored Brushless Design — The integrated sensor system provides smooth, responsive throttle control and eliminates cogging issues present in sensorless motors, resulting in better acceleration feel and more predictable power delivery during competitive racing.
- 4-Pole Rotor Configuration — The four-pole rotor design is optimised for high-RPM performance and efficient power transfer, delivering the acceleration and top-speed characteristics demanded by serious 1/8 on-road competitors.
- 2450KV Rating — This medium-high KV specification provides an excellent balance between speed and torque, making it versatile across different gearing setups and battery configurations used in modern 1/8 on-road racing.
- Adjustable Timing — The motor features adjustable timing capability, allowing experienced racers to dial in optimal performance characteristics for different track conditions, weather and racing styles without changing the motor itself.
- Competition-Grade Engineering — Built to IFMAR, BRCA, EFRA and ROAR specifications, this motor is fully approved for use in sanctioned racing events, ensuring you're not just racing with quality equipment but with equipment recognised by governing bodies.
- 12-Slot Stator with Steel Laminations — The precision-manufactured 12-slot stator combined with 0.2mm steel laminations provides excellent magnetic efficiency and durability, ensuring consistent performance lap after lap throughout your racing season.
- Low Internal Resistance — At just 0.01 Ohm, the motor's extremely low resistance minimises voltage drop and heat generation, maximising efficiency and allowing more of your battery's energy to be converted into motive force.
- Compact 42mm Diameter Housing — The space-efficient 42mm diameter design fits into tight motor compartments typical of competitive 1/8 on-road chassis, whilst maintaining the internal volume needed for powerful performance.
- Standard 5.0mm Shaft — The 5.0mm diameter shaft with 19mm length is compatible with standard RC car pinions and bell housings, ensuring seamless integration into existing or new builds without requiring custom adapters.
- Reliable M3/M4 Mounting — Industry-standard M3 and M4 mounting holes on a 25.4mm pattern ensure compatibility with the vast majority of 1/8 on-road chassis designs currently available in the UK RC market.
Technical Performance
The Pista 805 Sensored Motor is engineered for maximum performance in competitive 1/8 on-road racing applications. Rated at 2400 watts continuous power output, this motor delivers substantial punch without compromising reliability or longevity. The 4-pole rotor design combined with the 12-slot, 0.2mm steel lamination stator creates a highly efficient magnetic circuit that maximises torque delivery across the entire RPM range. With a maximum amperage rating of 133 amps and an idle draw of just 3.8 amps, the motor operates efficiently without excessive current demands that would overtax your electronic speed controller or battery pack. The sensored brushless design eliminates mechanical brush wear entirely, dramatically extending motor lifespan compared to brushed alternatives whilst providing superior throttle response and smoothness that modern racing demands. The motor's 0.01 Ohm internal resistance is exceptionally low, minimising heating and voltage losses that would otherwise rob your RC car of precious performance. Built with precision manufacturing standards and quality materials throughout, the Pista 805 maintains its performance characteristics consistently throughout its operational life. The adjustable timing feature allows experienced racers and tuners to optimise the commutation point for maximum efficiency, adapting the motor's character to specific track layouts, surface conditions and driving preferences without physical modification of the motor internals.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between sensored and sensorless brushless motors? — Sensored brushless motors like the Pista 805 contain hall-effect sensors that detect rotor position, enabling the ESC to commutate power at precisely the right moment. This results in smooth acceleration from a standstill, better throttle response, and smoother power delivery. Sensorless motors must wait for back-EMF feedback, which causes hesitation at low speeds and rougher initial acceleration. For competitive 1/8 on-road racing where smooth, predictable throttle feel is critical, sensored designs like the Pista 805 are decidedly superior.
- What battery does the Pista 805 need? — The Pista 805 is compatible with 2S, 3S and 4S LiPo battery packs. Most competitive 1/8 on-road racers use 3S or 4S configurations. Your specific battery choice depends on your ESC's maximum voltage rating, desired top speed, and track layout. A typical 4S 5000mAh LiPo would be a common choice for serious racers, though 3S setups are also popular for tighter, more technical tracks.
- Is the Pista 805 suitable for beginners? — Whilst the Pista 805 is a sensored brushless motor that's easier to control than sensorless alternatives, it is genuinely a competition-grade component designed for serious racers. Beginners to RC racing can certainly use it, but they should understand that they'll need a compatible sensored ESC, quality LiPo batteries with a proper charger, and a competitive 1/8 on-road chassis. For complete beginners entirely new to RC, an entry-level ready-to-run package would be more appropriate before upgrading to specialist components like this.
- What is KV and why does 2450KV matter? — KV is a rating that indicates how many RPM the motor will turn per volt applied. A 2450KV motor turns 2450 RPM for every volt of electrical power supplied. Higher KV motors spin faster but with less torque; lower KV motors spin slower but with more torque. The 2450KV rating of the Pista 805 is medium-high, providing excellent balance for 1/8 on-road racing where you need both strong acceleration and good top speed. This KV rating works well with 3S and 4S LiPo batteries across a range of gearing options.
- Can I use the Pista 805 in sanctioned racing events? — Yes, absolutely. The motor is fully IFMAR, BRCA, EFRA and ROAR compliant, meaning it meets all specifications required by these major racing organisations. You can confidently use this motor in sanctioned 1/8 on-road racing events across the UK and internationally.
- What makes the 4-pole design important? — The 4-pole rotor design is optimised for high-RPM operation and efficient energy conversion at the speeds demanded by modern on-road racing. The multiple poles create a more uniform magnetic field, resulting in smoother power delivery and better efficiency compared to lower pole-count designs. For competitive 1/8 on-road racing, the 4-pole configuration is the standard choice among serious competitors.
- How does the adjustable timing feature work? — Adjustable timing allows you to shift the moment when the ESC commutates power to the motor windings. Advancing timing increases power and top speed but may reduce efficiency; retarding timing reduces power but improves efficiency and smoothness. Experienced racers adjust timing to optimise performance for specific track conditions, weather and driving preferences. Your ESC must support adjustable timing via a programming card or software to utilise this feature.
- What ESC do I need for the Pista 805? — You need an ESC specifically rated for sensored brushless motors with a minimum current rating of 133 amps (preferably 150+ amps for headroom) and compatibility with your chosen battery voltage (2S, 3S or 4S LiPo). The ESC must have an input connector matching your battery type and an output connector matching your motor's sensor harness. Popular choices include ESCs from Hobbywing, Castle Creations and other manufacturers who produce sensored-compatible units in the 150+ amp range.
