Frequently Asked Questions
- What size are these bearings and will they fit my RC car? — These bearings measure 6mm inner diameter x 12mm outer diameter x 4mm width. This is a standard size used across many popular RC car platforms including Traxxas, Element Enduro, HPI, Mugen, Rival MT10, Tamiya, Team Associated, Team Losi, and Axial Racing models. Check your vehicle's manual or contact us at RC Model Shop to confirm compatibility with your specific RC model.
- What does rubber shielded mean and why is it better than open bearings? — Rubber shielding provides a protective seal around the bearing that prevents dirt, dust, and moisture from entering the bearing whilst still allowing smooth rotation. This makes rubber shielded bearings ideal for RC cars that are used outdoors or in dusty environments, as they require less frequent cleaning and maintenance compared to open bearings whilst still delivering excellent performance.
- How often should I replace bearings on my RC car? — Bearings are considered wear items and the replacement frequency depends on how often you use your RC car and the conditions in which you operate it. If you notice clicking sounds, resistance, or rough rotation, it's time to replace the bearing. Many serious RC enthusiasts replace bearings as part of regular maintenance even if they appear to be functioning, as new bearings deliver optimal performance and help prevent drivetrain damage.
- Is this bearing suitable for high-speed RC racing? — Yes, the Fastrax rubber shielded bearing is designed to perform reliably in demanding RC applications including high-speed racing. The precision manufacturing ensures smooth rotation with minimal friction, and the rubber shield provides protection without compromising rotational efficiency. Whether you're competing in organised RC races or weekend bashing with friends, these bearings will maintain consistent performance.
- Can I use these bearings in wet conditions? — The rubber shield provides excellent protection against moisture and water ingress, making these bearings suitable for wet conditions. However, after running in wet or muddy conditions, it's recommended to rinse your RC model with fresh water and allow it to dry thoroughly before storing to prevent corrosion on other metal components.
- Why would I need multiple bearings? — RC cars typically use multiple bearings throughout the drivetrain, suspension, and wheels. Having spare bearings on hand allows you to perform complete bearing refreshes, which many RC enthusiasts do as part of preventative maintenance to ensure optimal performance. Additionally, if you have multiple RC cars, stocking spare Fastrax bearings ensures you can keep all your vehicles running smoothly.
