Overview

The Corally Vulcan II Pro Modified Sensored Brushless Motor 5.5T (C-61152) is a high-performance brushless motor engineered for competitive RC pan car racing and touring car applications across multiple scales. This is a purpose-built modified motor that delivers serious performance for drivers who demand reliability, speed and precision in their RC car UK setup. Whether you're competing in 1/12 pan car, 1/10 pan car, 1/10 touring, 1/10 buggy 4WD or 1/10 buggy 2WD formats, the Vulcan II Pro Modified offers the power delivery and efficiency needed to stay competitive at the track.

As an IFMAR, BRCA, ROAR and EFRA compliant motor, the Vulcan II Pro Modified is fully recognised and approved for use in sanctioned competitions, making it an ideal choice for serious racers who want to upgrade their brushless RC car setup. The sensored brushless technology ensures smooth acceleration from a standstill and eliminates the cogging that can plague sensorless motors, giving you superior control and consistency lap after lap. This is a motor built for drivers who understand the difference that quality engineering makes in competitive RC racing.

The 5.5T specification sits at the sweet spot between acceleration and top speed, making it versatile enough for different track conditions and racing styles. If you're looking to upgrade your RC car motor, replace a damaged unit, or simply want to experience the performance improvements that a quality modified brushless motor can deliver, the Corally Vulcan II Pro Modified Sensored 5.5T is a choice you can trust.

Key Features

  • Sensored Brushless Technology — The integrated sensor system provides seamless starting and smooth acceleration delivery from a complete standstill, eliminating the jerky acceleration that can occur with sensorless motors and giving you superior control during races.
  • IFMAR/BRCA/ROAR/EFRA Compliant — This motor is fully recognised and approved for use in sanctioned racing across all major competitive RC organisations, meaning you can compete with confidence knowing your equipment meets all official specifications.
  • Modified Motor Class — Engineered specifically for competitive racing rather than general hobby use, this motor delivers refined performance characteristics and superior reliability that serious racers depend upon.
  • 5.5T Winding Specification — The 5.5 turn count provides an optimal balance between acceleration and top speed, making it suitable for a wide variety of track conditions and driving styles without requiring complete re-tuning between events.
  • Adjustable Timing — The motor features adjustable timing functionality, allowing you to fine-tune performance characteristics to suit your specific track layout, battery choice and driving preferences for maximum competitiveness.
  • High-Quality Construction — Features a 3-slot stator with 0.2mm steel laminations and a 2-pole rotor for efficient power delivery, robust engineering that ensures consistent performance race after race.
  • Universal Compatibility — The standardised 540 motor size and 3.17mm shaft diameter ensure compatibility with most modern RC pan cars and touring cars, making it straightforward to integrate into your existing setup.
  • Excellent Thermal Characteristics — The 35.8mm diameter housing and optimised internal design provide effective heat dissipation, keeping the motor running at optimal temperature during extended racing sessions.

Technical Performance

The Corally Vulcan II Pro Modified Sensored Brushless Motor 5.5T delivers exceptional performance metrics that make it a favourite among serious RC racing enthusiasts throughout the UK. With a rated output of 610 watts and a KV rating of 9350 RPM per volt, this motor is engineered to extract maximum performance from quality LiPo batteries whilst maintaining the efficiency and reliability that competitive racers require. The motor operates on 1-2S LiPo batteries, making it compatible with both single-cell and dual-cell setups depending on your ESC and racing regulations. The idle operating current of 7.90 amps combined with a maximum amperage rating of 133 amps demonstrates the substantial power delivery available when you need it most, whilst the zero ohm resistance specification indicates the quality of the copper windings and electrical connections throughout the motor. The sensored brushless design utilises a sophisticated 2-pole rotor configuration paired with a carefully engineered 3-slot stator, ensuring smooth power delivery and eliminating the cogging sensation that can make throttle control unpredictable in competitive situations. The rotor dimensions (OD 12.3mm x ID 5.0mm x L 24.5mm) and overall motor dimensions (35.8mm diameter, 52mm length) represent the optimised proportions developed through years of racing experience. The 3.17mm shaft diameter and 13mm shaft length provide secure mounting whilst minimising rotating mass, and the M3 mounting holes at 25.4mm spacing follow industry standards for easy integration into your RC car. This is a motor that combines cutting-edge brushless technology with proven racing heritage, delivering the performance and reliability that separates winners from the rest of the field.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the Corally Vulcan II Pro Modified 5.5T suitable for competitive RC racing? — Absolutely. This motor is fully IFMAR, BRCA, ROAR and EFRA compliant, meaning it is officially recognised and approved for use in sanctioned competitions. The modified motor class designation and sensored brushless technology make it an excellent choice for drivers who take their RC racing seriously and want equipment that performs at the highest levels.
  • What makes sensored brushless technology better than sensorless for racing? — Sensored brushless motors have hall-effect sensors that detect rotor position, allowing the ESC to deliver perfectly timed commutation even at low speeds. This eliminates cogging and provides smooth, predictable acceleration from a complete standstill, which is absolutely critical in racing where throttle control directly translates to lap times. The difference is immediately noticeable when you drive.
  • What battery does the Corally Vulcan II Pro Modified 5.5T need? — This motor operates on 1-2S LiPo (Lithium Polymer) batteries. A single-cell 1S LiPo provides 3.7V nominal voltage, whilst a 2S LiPo provides 7.4V nominal voltage. Most competitive racers use 2S setups to maximise the 9350 KV potential, though 1S operation is supported for racing formats that specify lower voltage. Your ESC must be rated for the voltage you select.
  • Is this motor compatible with my RC car? — The Vulcan II Pro Modified is a 540-size motor with a 3.17mm shaft diameter, which is the industry standard for modern RC pan cars and touring cars. It will fit any chassis designed for 540 motors. If you're unsure whether your chassis uses a 540 motor mounting, check your vehicle's specifications or manual, or contact us for compatibility advice.
  • What is the difference between a modified motor and a stock motor? — Modified motors are engineered specifically for competitive racing with refined winding specifications, superior materials and tighter tolerances than stock motors. The Vulcan II Pro Modified features a competitive 5.5T winding, advanced stator lamination design and sensored technology that delivers more consistent performance, better throttle response and improved reliability during demanding race sessions compared to general-purpose motors.
  • Can I use this motor in a 1/12 pan car? — Yes, the manufacturer specifications confirm this motor is suitable for 1/12 pan car applications as well as 1/10 pan car, 1/10 touring, 1/10 buggy 4WD and 1/10 buggy 2WD formats. This versatility makes it an excellent choice if you race multiple vehicle types.
  • What temperature can this motor handle? — Whilst specific temperature ratings are not provided in the technical specifications, the motor's 610-watt output and efficient 35.8mm diameter housing with steel laminations provide excellent heat dissipation. In practical terms, this motor will run safely during standard competitive racing sessions. Ensure your setup includes adequate cooling and avoid extended periods at maximum throttle during testing without a break.
  • Is adjustable timing difficult to set up? — The Vulcan II Pro Modified features adjustable timing, which allows you to customise motor performance characteristics. Most modern brushless ESCs have built-in timing adjustment menus or external programming cards that make changes straightforward. Start with manufacturer-recommended timing settings and make small adjustments based on your track conditions and racing preferences.
