Overview

The TEAM ASSOCIATED FT RC10B7 REAR HUB SET HRC BLACK ALUMINIUM (AS92474) represents a significant performance upgrade for owners of the RC10B7 and RC10B7D platforms. Associated Electrics has engineered these Factory Team aluminium hubs as a direct replacement for the standard moulded components, offering enhanced durability and advanced tuning capabilities that appeal to both competitive racers and serious RC enthusiasts across the UK. If you are looking to elevate your RC car UK setup with precision-engineered components, this aluminium hub set delivers the quality and performance you expect from Factory Team racing parts.

These hubs are specifically designed with HRC (High Roll Center) geometry, which fundamentally changes how your RC buggy performs on the track. The HRC designation means the hubs are engineered to allow higher axle heights, making them particularly effective when running on high-grip surfaces with smaller-diameter tyres and lower ride heights. This is the kind of detailed tuning option that competitive RC racers appreciate, allowing them to fine-tune their vehicle's handling characteristics to match specific track conditions and their driving style.

Beyond the geometric advantages, the Factory Team hubs provide more unsprung weight compared to the standard moulded alternatives. In RC racing terminology, unsprung weight affects how your chassis responds to bumps and transitions, and having the ability to adjust this through component choice is a valuable tuning tool. The black anodised aluminium construction ensures these hubs will withstand the rigours of competitive racing and weekend bashing alike, making them a genuine investment in your RC10B7's longevity and performance.

Key Features

  • Factory Team Aluminium Construction — These hubs are manufactured from high-quality aluminium and are significantly more durable than the standard moulded plastic hubs that come with your RC10B7 or RC10B7D, ensuring they can handle the stresses of competitive racing and repeated impacts without cracking or deforming.
  • HRC (High Roll Center) Design — The High Roll Center geometry allows for higher axle heights, which is particularly beneficial when you are running smaller-diameter tyres with lower ride heights on high-grip surfaces, giving you the tuning flexibility that serious racers demand.
  • Increased Unsprung Weight Tuning Option — The aluminium construction adds unsprung weight to your setup compared to moulded plastic hubs, providing an additional tuning variable that you can use to adjust your vehicle's suspension response and handling characteristics for different track conditions.
  • Secondary Bearing Bore — These hubs include a secondary bearing bore designed specifically for the upcoming Factory Team Universals, future-proofing your investment and allowing you to upgrade to FT-standard universal joints when they become available.
  • Black Anodised Finish — The professional black anodised aluminium finish not only looks purposeful and race-ready, but also provides corrosion resistance and durability, ensuring your hubs maintain their appearance and functionality through extended use and storage.
  • Secondary Machined Chamfers and Laser-Etched Logo — Attention to detail is evident in the secondary machined chamfers that reduce stress concentration points and the laser-etched FT logo, demonstrating the precision engineering that Factory Team is known for in the RC racing community.

Technical Performance

The RC10B7 FT Rear Hub Set represents a meaningful upgrade in build quality and engineering precision compared to standard moulded alternatives. Machined from aluminium and finished in durable black anodised coating, these hubs deliver the strength and reliability required for competitive 1/10 scale RC buggy racing. The HRC (High Roll Center) specification increases the effective axle height, which is a critical tuning parameter when you are running smaller tyres with lower ride heights on high-grip circuits. The addition of unsprung weight through the aluminium construction provides competitors with a sophisticated tuning option—by adjusting unsprung weight, drivers can fine-tune how responsive their suspension feels over bumps and during transitions, an important consideration for anyone serious about RC racing in the UK or internationally. The secondary bearing bore incorporates design compatibility with upcoming Factory Team Universals, meaning you can confidently upgrade your drivetrain components as the Factory Team range evolves. The precision machining of secondary chamfers reduces stress concentration at critical points, improving durability and service life. This is the type of component upgrade that separates casual hobbyists from serious competitors who understand that marginal gains in durability, tunability and performance come from carefully engineered upgrade parts.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between HRC and standard hub designs? — HRC stands for High Roll Center, which means the hubs are engineered to allow higher axle heights. This is particularly useful when you are running on high-grip surfaces with smaller-diameter tyres and lower ride heights. The standard hubs have a different geometry that works better in other conditions, so choosing HRC hubs is a deliberate tuning choice based on your local track conditions.
  • Why would I choose aluminium hubs over the moulded plastic ones? — Aluminium hubs offer significantly greater durability and will not crack or deform under the stresses of competitive racing and hard landings. Additionally, the increased unsprung weight provides a tuning advantage, allowing you to adjust your suspension feel by choosing between standard and aluminium components. For serious racers, the durability and tuning flexibility make aluminium hubs a worthwhile investment.
  • Are these hubs compatible with my RC10B7D? — Yes, these rear hubs are confirmed compatible with both the RC10B7 and RC10B7D platforms, making them a straightforward upgrade regardless of which variant you own.
  • What are secondary machined chamfers and why do they matter? — Secondary machined chamfers are precision-cut bevels on the hub surfaces that remove sharp edges and stress concentration points. By reducing these weak points, the chamfers improve the durability of the hubs under load, helping them resist cracking and failure during intense racing.
  • What does the secondary bearing bore allow me to do? — The secondary bearing bore is designed to accommodate upcoming Factory Team Universals. This future-proofs your hubs, allowing you to upgrade to FT-standard universal joints when they become available, rather than being locked into older drive component standards.
  • Will these hubs improve my lap times? — Direct performance improvements depend on how well the HRC geometry matches your local track conditions and driving style. However, the added durability means less downtime for repairs, and the tuning flexibility of adjusted unsprung weight allows you to optimise your setup more precisely, both of which can contribute to more consistent and faster lap times over a season of racing.
