Technical Performance
The Team Associated FT 13mm Shock Pistons represent a critical component in RC suspension engineering. The 2.5mm diameter with 2 x 1.5 configuration has been specifically engineered to control damping fluid flow within 13mm shock absorbers, directly affecting how your RC car responds to track surfaces, jumps, and cornering forces. The precise specification ensures that shocks perform consistently lap after lap, race after race, maintaining the suspension geometry your setup depends on. Unlike generic or lower-quality piston alternatives, these Factory Team components are manufactured to exacting tolerances using high-quality materials, ensuring reliability across countless compression and extension cycles. The engineering behind the 2 x 1.5 configuration allows for optimal fluid displacement rates, reducing compliance and delivering the responsive handling that competitive racers demand from their RC buggy, truck, or platform. For UK RC enthusiasts running factory-spec setups or fine-tuning custom suspension configurations, these pistons deliver the precision performance that makes the difference between good handling and championship-winning performance. The shock piston is a small but absolutely critical component—the right specification ensures your entire suspension system functions as designed by your vehicle's engineers.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What does the 2.5mm and 2 x 1.5 specification mean for my RC car? — These measurements describe the shock piston's physical dimensions and hole configuration. The 2.5mm refers to the piston diameter, whilst the 2 x 1.5 describes the internal fluid bypass channels. Together, these specifications determine how much fluid flows through the shock during compression and extension, directly affecting your RC car's damping characteristics and how responsive it feels on the track. Getting the right specification ensures your suspension performs exactly as it was engineered to perform.
- Which Team Associated RC cars use 13mm shocks? — According to the product information, these FT 13mm shock pistons are compatible with multiple Team Associated chassis platforms including the B6.4D, B74.2D, B74.2, T6.4, SC6.4, B7, and B7D models. If you own any of these RC buggies or trucks, you may need replacement or upgraded shock pistons to maintain or improve suspension performance.
- Why are Factory Team pistons better than standard alternatives? — Factory Team components represent Team Associated's premium engineering standard, manufactured to tighter tolerances and from higher-quality materials than standard parts. This precision engineering ensures consistency across multiple shock cycles, more predictable handling characteristics, and longer lifespan. For competitive racers and serious enthusiasts, the reliability and performance repeatability of Factory Team parts justify the investment.
- Are these pistons suitable for both racing and recreational use? — Absolutely. Whether you're a weekend basher enjoying off-road RC driving in the UK or a competitive racer building your next race-winning setup, these pistons deliver professional-grade quality. They're equally at home in a track buggy, an off-road truck, or a recreational short-course racer.
- How do I know which shock piston specification I need? — Your RC car's original setup documentation or suspension guide will specify the exact piston configuration required. Many racers experiment with different piston specifications to fine-tune their vehicle's handling characteristics. If you're unsure, consult your vehicle manual or contact RC Model Shop for expert guidance—our team can help identify the right specification for your chassis.
- How often should I replace shock pistons? — Shock pistons typically last through hundreds of driving sessions under normal conditions. However, if you notice changes in suspension response, uneven handling, or diminished damping performance, it's time to service your shocks and potentially replace the pistons. Regular maintenance keeps your RC car performing at its best.
