Technical Performance
The M2 x 16mm Socket Head Cap Screw represents precision engineering in fastener design. The M2 metric thread diameter is a common specification in RC car assembly, providing adequate holding power whilst remaining lightweight — an important consideration when every gramme counts in competitive RC racing. The 16mm overall length has been calculated to work specifically with the adjustable body mount assembly found on Team Associated ProRally and compatible models, providing sufficient thread engagement for secure fastening whilst accommodating the thickness of body mount components. Socket Head Cap Screws offer superior advantages over standard fasteners: the hexagonal socket design (typically used with an Allen key or hex wrench) provides better torque transfer and reduces the risk of stripping compared to Phillips or slot-head fasteners. This design is particularly valued in RC applications where fasteners experience constant vibration and require periodic re-tightening during maintenance. The cap screw head sits flush against mounting surfaces, maintaining clean lines and preventing snagging during body mount adjustment. Being a genuine Associated part, this fastener has been tested to ensure compatibility with OEM body mount specifications and tolerances, guaranteeing proper fitment and performance in your ready to run RC model.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is an M2 x 16mm Socket Head Cap Screw used for in RC cars? — This fastener is specifically designed for securing body mounts on RC models like the Associated ProRally. The body mount holds your model's shell (body) securely in place during operation, and the SHCS keeps this critical component fastened. Proper fastening prevents the body shell from shifting, rattling, or coming loose during driving, which could affect handling, aerodynamics and overall model performance.
- Is this part compatible with my RC car UK model? — The AS7184 is designed for Team Associated ProRally models and adjustable body mount assemblies. Check your model documentation or contact our team to confirm compatibility with your specific RC car. This is a genuine OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) part, so it will work perfectly with associated models specified as compatible.
- How often should I replace these fasteners? — Socket Head Cap Screws are durable and can be reused many times. You should inspect them regularly during maintenance and replace them if you notice stripping, damage, or if they no longer hold tension securely. Keeping spare fasteners on hand is a smart practice for any RC enthusiast, ensuring you're never left without essential parts when repairs are needed.
- What tools do I need to install this screw? — You'll need a metric Allen key or hex wrench that fits the M2 socket. Most RC toolkits include a set of metric Allen keys. The key should fit snugly in the socket head to avoid stripping. Tighten firmly but don't over-tighten, as this can damage the fastener or the mounting holes in your RC model.
- Can I use standard fasteners instead of genuine Associated parts? — Whilst generic M2 x 16mm fasteners might fit, genuine Team Associated parts are engineered to exact OEM specifications and tolerances, ensuring perfect fitment and reliability. Using authentic replacement parts guarantees compatibility and helps maintain your RC model's performance and value.
- Why should I buy spare fasteners? — RC models experience vibration, impacts and stress during use. Fasteners can loosen, become stripped, or get lost during crashes and repairs. Keeping spare AS7184 Socket Head Cap Screws in your RC toolbox means you're always prepared for maintenance or repairs without costly downtime waiting for delivery.
