Overview
The Team Associated 13mm Front Shock Springs in Grey (AS71161) represent a significant upgrade for drivers looking to enhance the suspension performance of their RC stadium truck or short course truck in the UK. These 54mm truck front springs are specifically engineered for 13mm shock systems and deliver a spring rate of 4.60 lb/in, making them an ideal choice whether you are building new 13mm shocks from scratch or converting your existing 12mm truck shocks to the superior 13mm platform. As an authorised Associated retailer, RC Model Shop offers these genuine springs to help you optimise your RC car's handling characteristics across a variety of track conditions.
These springs are derived from Team Associated's proven 13mm shock technology, which originates from the RC10B6.4 buggy platform and has been successfully adapted for modern stadium trucks and short course vehicles. The 13mm-bore technology represents a significant advancement in shock engineering, allowing drivers to fine-tune their suspension setup with greater precision than traditional 12mm systems. Whether you are a competitive racer, a weekend basher, or an enthusiast looking to squeeze every last ounce of performance from your RC truck, these grey front springs provide the foundation for superior ride quality and control across jumps, bumps and technical terrain.
With a designation of 7.25T and 1.3D, these springs are colour-coded grey for easy identification in your parts box. They work seamlessly with the RC10SC6.2 stadium truck and RC10T6.2 short course truck models, making them essential upgrades for owners of these platforms who want to access the latest suspension technology available in the RC hobby today.
Key Features
- 13mm Shock Compatibility — These springs are specifically designed for 13mm shock systems, which represent a major advancement over traditional 12mm setups and allow you to run lighter shock oils for a softer low-speed feel while maintaining excellent pack for take-offs and landings.
- 54mm Length for Truck Front Applications — The 54mm length is optimised for front shock placement in stadium trucks and short course vehicles, providing proper geometry and consistent support throughout the suspension travel.
- 4.60 lb/in Spring Rate — This moderate spring rate delivers a balanced combination of compliance over small bumps and sufficient support under high-speed loading, making these springs versatile for a wide range of track conditions and driving styles.
- Grey Colour Coding — The grey colour code makes these springs instantly recognisable, helping you quickly identify the correct springs when building or maintaining your shock setup.
- 7.25T and 1.3D Designation — These technical designations indicate the specific tuning characteristics of the spring, ensuring compatibility with the 13mm shock platform and precise performance matching with other suspension components.
- Superior Bump Absorption — The larger 13mm-bore piston design allows smoother bump absorption both in and out of corners, reducing harshness and improving overall ride quality on rough and technical tracks.
- Improved Jump Performance — These springs pack up efficiently during high-speed landings and jumps, giving your truck the feeling of landing on a pillow whilst maintaining excellent control and consistency.
- Build or Convert Compatible — Whether you are building new 13mm shocks from individual components or converting your existing 12mm truck shocks to 13mm, these springs work seamlessly with the complete 13mm shock ecosystem.
Technical Performance
The Team Associated 13mm Front Shock Springs represent cutting-edge suspension technology derived from the highly successful RC10B6.4 buggy platform. The 13mm-bore piston design is larger than traditional 12mm systems, which fundamentally changes how the suspension behaves across the entire speed spectrum. By allowing drivers to run lighter shock oils than would be possible with 12mm systems, the 13mm platform delivers a noticeably softer and more compliant feel during low-speed bump absorption—critical for technical sections with small rocks, roots and surface irregularities. However, the larger bore diameter and higher piston surface area mean that during high-speed compression events such as jump landings and aggressive acceleration, the springs pack up with excellent support and pack, preventing bottoming and maintaining chassis control. These 54mm truck front springs with a 4.60 lb/in rate and grey colour coding work in concert with 13x36mm shock bodies and complementary 72mm truck rear springs to create a complete tuning package. The 7.25T and 1.3D designations ensure precise compatibility and performance matching across the suspension. This engineering allows you to optimise your RC10SC6.2 or RC10T6.2 for everything from flowing high-speed jumps to technical rock crawling, delivering the consistent support and control that competitive drivers demand.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Are these springs suitable for both the RC10SC6.2 and RC10T6.2? — Yes, these 13mm front shock springs are fully compatible with both the RC10SC6.2 stadium truck and the RC10T6.2 short course truck models. They are part of the complete 13mm shock upgrade package that includes 13x36mm shock bodies and 72mm truck rear springs.
- What is the advantage of 13mm shocks compared to 12mm? — The 13mm shock technology features a larger bore piston that allows you to run lighter shock oils for a softer, more compliant low-speed feel whilst maintaining excellent pack and support during high-speed landings and jumps. This creates a more balanced suspension that feels planted and controlled across the entire speed range, a significant improvement over traditional 12mm systems.
- Can I use these springs if I am converting from 12mm to 13mm shocks? — Absolutely. These springs are designed specifically for conversion setups, allowing you to upgrade your existing 12mm truck shocks to the superior 13mm platform. You will need the complete 13x36mm shock body kit in addition to these springs, but the conversion process integrates seamlessly with your existing truck chassis.
- What does the 4.60 lb/in spring rate mean? — The spring rate indicates how much force is required to compress the spring by one inch. A 4.60 lb/in rate is considered moderate, providing a good balance between compliance over small bumps and sufficient support under aggressive driving. This rate suits a wide variety of track conditions and driving styles.
- Are these springs colour-coded? — Yes, these springs are colour-coded grey, making them easy to identify and distinguish from other spring rates in your parts collection. The grey colour code corresponds to the 4.60 lb/in rate.
- What is the 7.25T and 1.3D designation? — These technical designations specify the precise tuning characteristics of the spring within the Team Associated 13mm shock ecosystem, ensuring compatibility and performance consistency with other suspension components. These numbers help you select the correct springs for your specific setup.
- Where can I buy compatible shock bodies and rear springs? — The 13x36mm front shock bodies and 72mm truck rear springs are available separately. RC Model Shop stocks the complete 13mm shock upgrade package, so you can source all components from one trusted UK retailer.
- Will upgrading to 13mm shocks improve my lap times? — Many drivers report improved consistency and control with 13mm shocks, particularly on technical and bumpy tracks. The superior suspension compliance and support can help reduce lap time variance and allow you to push harder with confidence, though individual improvements depend on your driving style and track conditions.
