Overview

The Team Associated TC7 Shock Pistons 3x1.1 (AS31689) are precision-engineered replacement shock pistons designed specifically for the Team Associated TC7 touring car platform. These are essential maintenance and tuning components for anyone serious about getting the most from their TC7 RC car. Whether you're a competitive racer, weekend enthusiast, or someone who enjoys maintaining their RC car collection, having quality replacement shock pistons on hand ensures your vehicle performs at its best across different track conditions and weather.

Shock pistons are critical to suspension performance in RC cars, controlling how your vehicle's shock absorbers compress and extend during cornering, acceleration, and braking. The 3x1.1 specification refers to the piston diameter and thickness, which directly affects damping characteristics and overall handling feel. Upgrading or replacing your shock pistons is a straightforward way to fine-tune your TC7's suspension setup without investing in expensive complete shock assemblies, making these components ideal for both beginners learning about RC car tuning and experienced racers optimising their vehicles for competition.

RC Model Shop stocks genuine Team Associated parts and spares, ensuring you receive authentic components that meet manufacturer specifications. The TC7 remains one of the most popular 1/10 scale touring cars in the UK RC hobby scene, and having access to quality spares like these shock pistons means you can keep your vehicle in top condition for years to come.

Key Features

  • Genuine Team Associated Component — These shock pistons are manufactured by Team Associated to the exact specifications required for TC7 vehicles, ensuring perfect compatibility and reliable performance that aftermarket alternatives simply cannot guarantee.
  • 3x1.1 Specification — The 3mm diameter and 1.1mm thickness piston design provides a specific damping profile that's optimised for TC7 handling characteristics, allowing you to tune your suspension to match your driving style and track conditions.
  • Direct TC7 Compatibility — Designed exclusively for Team Associated TC7 models, these pistons fit perfectly into your existing shock absorbers without modification, making installation straightforward for anyone with basic RC car maintenance knowledge.
  • Suspension Tuning Flexibility — By replacing worn shock pistons or experimenting with the 3x1.1 specification, you can adjust how your TC7 responds in corners, over bumps, and during acceleration, giving you precise control over your vehicle's handling balance.
  • Affordable Performance Upgrade — Shock pistons are one of the most cost-effective ways to improve your RC car's suspension feel and performance without replacing entire shock assemblies, making these essential components great value for money.
  • Essential Maintenance Item — Over time, shock pistons can wear or become damaged, affecting suspension performance and responsiveness, making replacement pistons a necessary part of regular RC car maintenance.

Technical Performance

The Team Associated TC7 Shock Pistons 3x1.1 represent precision engineering specifically tailored for the TC7 touring car platform. Shock pistons work by creating controlled resistance as shock fluid flows through ports in the piston face, dampening suspension movement and controlling how quickly the shocks compress and extend. The 3x1.1 specification strikes a balance between damping responsiveness and suspension compliance, making these pistons suitable for a wide variety of track conditions and driving styles. Whether you're racing on smooth indoor carpet tracks or outdoor asphalt circuits, or simply enjoying casual bashing with your TC7, these pistons provide the tuning flexibility needed to dial in your vehicle's suspension characteristics precisely. The piston's design allows fluid to flow at different rates depending on suspension speed, helping maintain consistent handling whether you're pushing hard through high-speed corners or navigating technical low-speed sections. For UK RC enthusiasts competing in touring car racing series or simply wanting to maintain their vehicles in peak condition, quality shock pistons like these are fundamental to achieving optimal performance and handling.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What exactly are shock pistons and why do I need them? — Shock pistons are small precision components that sit inside your RC car's shock absorbers and control how the suspension compresses and extends. They create damping by restricting the flow of shock fluid, which controls your vehicle's suspension response during cornering, braking, and acceleration. Over time, pistons can wear out, become damaged, or simply need replacement as part of regular maintenance. Having replacement pistons on hand means you can keep your TC7 performing at its best.
  • Are these shock pistons compatible with my Team Associated TC7? — Yes, these AS31689 shock pistons are designed specifically for Team Associated TC7 vehicles and will fit perfectly into your existing shock absorbers without any modification or additional parts required.
  • What does the 3x1.1 specification mean? — The 3x1.1 specification refers to the piston diameter (3mm) and thickness (1.1mm). These dimensions determine how much damping your shocks provide and how your suspension responds to track conditions. Different specifications offer different suspension characteristics, allowing you to tune your vehicle to your preference.
  • How often should I replace my shock pistons? — Shock pistons should be inspected regularly, especially if you race frequently or use your TC7 in demanding conditions. If you notice your suspension feels less responsive, if your shocks are leaking, or if you're simply looking to freshen up your vehicle during maintenance, replacement pistons are an affordable solution.
  • Will replacing my shock pistons improve my RC car's performance? — If your current pistons are worn or damaged, fresh pistons will definitely improve suspension responsiveness and handling feel. You can also experiment with different piston specifications to tune your TC7's suspension for specific track conditions or your personal driving style.
  • Is this suitable for beginners? — Yes, these shock pistons are suitable for anyone who wants to maintain or upgrade their TC7, from beginners learning about RC car tuning to experienced racers. Installation requires only basic RC car maintenance knowledge and simple tools.
