Overview

The Team Associated Factory Team Shock Shaft Multi-Tool Pliers (AS1681) represent a significant step forward in workshop efficiency for RC car UK enthusiasts and serious builders alike. Whether you're maintaining a competitive 1:10 scale buggy, working on a 1:8 scale truck, or simply enjoying weekend bashing with your ready to run RC model, this versatile multi-tool pliers set has been specifically designed to streamline the build and maintenance process. Team Associated's Factory Team engineers have created a tool that eliminates the need for multiple implements, replacing a toolbox full of specialised equipment with one carefully engineered solution that handles shock assembly, linkage building, pivot ball installation, and soldering tasks with equal proficiency.

Built from high-quality black anodised aluminium with an eye-catching silver edge finish and authentic FT laser-etching, these pliers are as visually striking as they are functionally impressive. The large 6.5-inch format (16.51cm overall length) provides excellent hand fitment and superior clamping leverage, making extended building sessions significantly more comfortable and efficient. This isn't just another generic tool grabbed from a general hardware store—these are precision instruments designed from the ground up for RC car builders and enthusiasts who demand quality, reliability, and professional results.

From holding your shock shaft steady during assembly to installing and removing delicate pivot balls without damage, from building turnbuckle linkages to supporting bullet plug soldering operations, the AS1681 multi-tool pliers prove invaluable across every stage of RC model maintenance and customisation. Whether you're a seasoned competitor preparing your rig for the track, a weekend basher maintaining your beloved machine, or a hobbyist discovering the satisfaction of hands-on RC car building for the first time, this Factory Team tool will help you build like a pro in no time.

Key Features

  • Black anodised aluminium construction with silver edge finish and FT laser-etching — The combination of premium black anodising and polished silver edges not only looks professional but provides excellent corrosion resistance and durability. The authentic Factory Team laser-etching confirms you're using genuine Associated equipment and adds a professional workshop aesthetic to your RC building station.
  • Large size for superior hand fitment and clamping leverage (overall length 6.5 inches / 16.51 centimetres) — The generous proportions mean you'll have comfortable grip leverage and better control when applying clamping force, reducing hand fatigue during extended building sessions and allowing you to work more efficiently and safely with delicate RC components.
  • 3mm and 3.5mm shock shaft clamp locations — These two different clamp sizes accommodate the vast majority of 1:10 and 1:8 scale shock shafts found on modern RC buggies and trucks, allowing you to securely hold your shock assembly at the correct angle during building and maintenance without fear of slippage or component damage.
  • Turnbuckle clamp for easy linkage building — The dedicated turnbuckle clamp location enables straightforward linkage assembly and adjustment, compatible with most 1:10 and 1:8 turnbuckles. This eliminates the frustration of trying to hold tiny linkage components steady whilst adjusting and tightening, resulting in more precise, professional linkage setups every time.
  • Large clamp location for 1:10 and 1:8 shock bodies — Beyond just shock shafts, these pliers can securely grip entire shock assemblies and shock bodies, providing stability when installing or removing internal components, servicing dampers, or adjusting shock performance settings on your RC car.
  • Shock pivot ball installer and remover — This purpose-built feature protects delicate pivot balls and their associated components from damage during installation and removal, ensuring your suspension geometry remains accurate and preventing costly component breakage that could compromise your RC car's handling and performance.
  • 5mm and 4mm holes to hold bullet plugs for soldering — Integrated soldering support holes safely hold standard bullet connectors at the optimal working angle for soldering operations, ensuring professional-quality electrical connections whilst keeping your hands and surrounding components safe from hot solder and flux splatter.

Technical Performance

The Team Associated Factory Team Shock Shaft Multi-Tool Pliers exemplify professional-grade tooling design through meticulous attention to material selection and engineering precision. Machined from high-quality aluminium and finished with premium black anodising, the tool provides exceptional durability whilst remaining lightweight and comfortable to use during extended building sessions. The precision-engineered clamping locations feature carefully calculated dimensions to securely grip 3mm and 3.5mm shock shafts—the most common sizes found across contemporary 1:10 and 1:8 scale RC buggies and trucks such as the RC10B7 and RC10B7D platforms.

The tool's versatility stems from its multiple integrated functions: shock shaft holding for assembly and maintenance, shock body clamping for internal component work, turnbuckle engagement for linkage building, pivot ball installation and removal for suspension work, and bullet plug positioning for electrical soldering operations. Each feature is strategically positioned and sized to optimise usability without compromising structural integrity. The large overall length of 6.5 inches (16.51 centimetres) provides optimal leverage and control, whilst the black anodised finish with silver edges resists corrosion and wear from regular workshop use. Whether you're working with competitive race setups, maintenance kits, or casual basher builds, the AS1681 delivers the precision control and multi-functionality expected from genuine Team Associated Factory Team equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What RC vehicles are these shock pliers compatible with? — The AS1681 is specifically designed for Team Associated vehicles, with confirmed compatibility for the RC10B7 and RC10B7D. However, the 3mm and 3.5mm shock shaft clamp locations work with most standard 1:10 and 1:8 scale shock shafts, meaning they're compatible with a broad range of modern RC buggies and trucks from various manufacturers across these popular scales.
  • Can these pliers be used for both 1:10 and 1:8 scale RC cars? — Yes, absolutely. The AS1681 is purposefully engineered to handle both scales. The shock shaft clamp locations accommodate the standard 3mm and 3.5mm shafts found on 1:10 and 1:8 vehicles, the turnbuckle clamp works with standard turnbuckles from both scales, and the large shock body clamp location accepts shock housings from both 1:10 and 1:8 platforms.
  • Is this tool suitable for beginners? — Definitely. These pliers make the building and maintenance process significantly more accessible and forgiving for newcomers to RC car building. The purpose-built clamping locations guide you through proper technique, the shock pivot ball installer protects delicate components from damage, and the ergonomic design reduces frustration. Experienced builders also appreciate the precision and efficiency gains, making this a tool suitable for any skill level.
  • What makes these shock pliers different from generic workshop pliers? — These are precision tools specifically engineered for RC car maintenance and building, unlike generic pliers designed for general hardware work. The dedicated shock shaft clamps, turnbuckle engagement, pivot ball tools, and soldering support holes are all calculated for RC component dimensions. The generous 6.5-inch length and carefully weighted balance provide superior control and leverage for delicate RC work, and the professional black anodised finish with FT laser-etching confirms you're using genuine Factory Team equipment.
  • Can I use these pliers for soldering work? — Yes. The 5mm and 4mm holes are specifically designed to safely hold standard bullet plugs at the optimal working angle for soldering, keeping both your hands and the surrounding components protected from hot solder and flux splatter whilst you create professional-quality electrical connections.
  • Are these genuine Team Associated tools? — Yes, the AS1681 is an official Team Associated Factory Team product, manufactured to factory specifications and finished with authentic FT laser-etching. Purchasing from authorised UK RC retailers ensures you receive genuine products with full warranty support.
