Overview

The VOLANTEX MITSUBISHI ZERO 4CH 400MM BRUSHED w/GYRO EPP RTF V761-15 is a stunning ready to run RC aircraft that brings legendary warbird history to life. This mini EPP foam aircraft is modelled on the iconic Japanese Mitsubishi Zero, a formidable adversary during the Pacific campaigns of World War II. Now you can recreate those historical dogfights with this expertly engineered ready to run RC plane, which is perfect for park flyers of all abilities, from complete beginners to experienced RC enthusiasts looking for an affordable and accessible fixed-wing model.

What sets this brushed RC aircraft apart from other beginner-friendly fixed-wing planes is its integrated XPilot 6-axis stabilisation gyro system, which provides exceptional stability and control even in variable wind conditions. The aircraft is equipped with a powerful gearbox and coreless brushed motor that delivers reliable, consistent performance whilst remaining gentle on batteries and power systems. Whether you're flying in your local park, school field, or designated RC flying site, this 400mm wingspan aircraft combines authentic warbird aesthetics with modern flight stabilisation technology, making it an excellent entry point into the world of RC fixed-wing aviation.

The VOLANTEX ZERO truly excels as a ready to run RC model aircraft. Unlike many budget RC planes that require extensive assembly or external purchases, this aircraft arrives almost completely ready for flight. Simply charge the included 360mAh LiPo battery, bind your 2.4GHz 4-channel radio transmitter, and you're ready to take to the skies. The aircraft's lightweight EPP foam construction makes it incredibly durable—even if you experience a crash or heavy landing, the aircraft can typically be repaired with basic foam-safe adhesive, keeping your flying costs low.

Key Features

  • XPilot 6-Axis Stabilisation Gyro — This integrated gyro system actively stabilises the aircraft across all six axes of movement (pitch, roll, and yaw in both directions), which means the aircraft will naturally resist unwanted tilting and rotation, making it significantly easier to control for pilots of all experience levels, especially beginners.
  • 3-Level Flight Control Assistant — The aircraft offers three selectable flight control modes, allowing you to choose the level of gyro stabilisation that suits your skill and flying conditions, meaning you can start with full assistance and gradually reduce it as your confidence and ability improve.
  • One-Key Aerobatic Feature — Simply press a dedicated button on your transmitter and pull the control stick to execute smooth, controlled aerobatics including loops, rolls, and inverted flight, making advanced flying manoeuvres accessible to pilots who are still developing their hand-flying skills.
  • One-Key U-Turn Function — This convenient feature allows you to perform instant 180-degree turns with a single button press, which is particularly useful for quick directional changes in confined flying spaces or for executing rapid evasive manoeuvres during mock dogfights.
  • Propeller Saver System — The propeller is mounted on a specially designed saver mechanism that protects both the propeller and the motor gearbox from damage during hard landings or ground strikes, significantly extending the lifespan of these essential components and reducing repair costs.
  • Brushed Motor with Integrated Gearbox — The coreless brushed motor paired with a precision gearbox delivers strong, consistent thrust whilst remaining energy-efficient, allowing for reasonable flight times from the compact onboard battery.
  • Authentic Warbird Design — The aircraft features accurate scale detailing and authentic paint schemes that capture the iconic appearance of the Mitsubishi Zero, appealing to history enthusiasts and scale modellers who want their RC aircraft to look as impressive as they fly.
  • Lightweight EPP Foam Construction — The entire airframe is crafted from expanded polypropylene foam, which is extremely lightweight, durable, and forgiving during crashes, making this aircraft ideal for learning to fly without the anxiety of expensive damage repairs.
  • 2.4GHz 4-Channel Radio System — The integrated 4-channel radio receiver operates on the modern 2.4GHz frequency band, offering reliable interference-free communication between your transmitter and aircraft, with four independent channels for full flight control (throttle, elevator, aileron, and rudder).
  • Ready to Fly Out of the Box — This RTF (ready to fly) aircraft arrives pre-assembled with all essential components installed and calibrated, requiring only battery charging and radio binding before your first flight, making it perfect for newcomers to RC aviation.

Technical Performance

The VOLANTEX MITSUBISHI ZERO is engineered to deliver reliable, stable flight performance across a broad range of conditions and skill levels. The brushed coreless motor, though modest in power compared to brushless alternatives, is perfectly suited to this lightweight 50-gram airframe, providing adequate thrust for stable climbing, smooth cruising, and controlled aerobatic manoeuvres. The aircraft's 360mAh single-cell LiPo battery provides approximately 8-12 minutes of typical flying time under normal conditions, though flight duration varies depending on your control inputs and flying style—aggressive aerobatic flying will reduce battery life, whilst smooth, gentle flying will extend it. The battery charges via standard balanced charger connector, and a typical charge cycle takes approximately 30-45 minutes depending on your charger specifications. The XPilot 6-axis gyro system features three selectable flight control levels, allowing progressive adjustment of stabilisation intensity; in the highest assistance mode, the gyro provides maximum stability for beginners, whilst lower assistance levels gradually introduce more aircraft responsiveness for pilots seeking greater manual control. The aircraft's wingspan measures 394mm, fuselage length is 320mm, and the extremely lightweight construction keeps the total ready-to-fly weight at just 50 grams, resulting in a compact aircraft that is easy to transport and can be flown in relatively confined spaces. The 1.3-gram servo mechanisms provide sufficient torque for precise control input response across all flight surfaces, whilst the integrated servo circuitry ensures smooth, jitter-free control inputs. The lightweight design and stable flight characteristics make this aircraft particularly forgiving during landing approaches, an area where many beginner pilots struggle, and the propeller saver system protects critical drivetrain components during touchdowns.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the VOLANTEX MITSUBISHI ZERO suitable for absolute beginners to RC aircraft flying? — Yes, absolutely. This ready to run RC plane is specifically designed with beginners in mind, featuring the XPilot 6-axis stabilisation gyro system which automatically helps stabilise the aircraft, making it much easier to control than conventional fixed-wing models. The three-level flight control assistant allows you to select maximum stabilisation initially and gradually reduce it as your skills develop. The lightweight EPP foam construction also means that minor crashes are unlikely to cause expensive damage, reducing the anxiety associated with learning to fly.
  • What flight time can I expect from the included 360mAh battery? — The 360mAh 1S LiPo battery typically provides 8-12 minutes of flying time under normal conditions, though this varies based on your flying style and control inputs. Gentle, smooth flying extends flight time, whilst aggressive aerobatic manoeuvres will reduce it. We recommend purchasing additional batteries to maximise your flying session, as charging typically takes 30-45 minutes.
  • What makes the XPilot gyro system different from manual RC aircraft? — The XPilot 6-axis stabilisation gyro continuously monitors the aircraft's orientation across pitch, roll, and yaw axes and automatically makes micro-adjustments to keep the aircraft level and stable. This is particularly helpful when flying in gusty conditions or when you accidentally over-control inputs, as the gyro gently corrects the aircraft back to level flight, making it forgive pilot errors that would normally cause crashes in non-gyro equipped aircraft.
  • Can this aircraft perform acrobatic manoeuvres? — Yes, the one-key aerobatic feature allows you to execute a variety of acrobatic manoeuvres including loops, rolls, and inverted flight simply by pressing a dedicated button and manipulating the control stick. This feature makes advanced flying accessible to pilots still developing their manual flying skills, though the gyro-stabilised nature of the aircraft makes these manoeuvres smooth and controlled rather than extreme.
  • What is the wingspan and overall size of this aircraft? — The VOLANTEX ZERO features a 394mm wingspan and 320mm fuselage length, making it a genuinely compact aircraft that is easy to transport and can be flown in relatively confined spaces such as local parks, school playing fields, and modest RC flying sites, whilst remaining large enough to be visible and handle-able in the air.
  • How is the propeller protected during landings? — The propeller saver system is a mechanical device that absorbs impact energy during hard landings or ground strikes, protecting both the propeller itself and the underlying motor gearbox from damage. This feature significantly extends the lifespan of these critical components and reduces ongoing maintenance and repair costs.
  • What type of motor does this aircraft use? — The aircraft is equipped with a brushed coreless motor paired with an integrated precision gearbox. Brushed motors are reliable, forgiving, and energy-efficient, making them ideal for beginner-friendly ready to run aircraft where consistent performance and battery efficiency are priorities.
  • Is this a true ready to run aircraft or does it require assembly? — This is a genuine ready to fly (RTF) aircraft that arrives almost completely assembled with all major components pre-installed and calibrated. You only need to charge the included battery and bind the 2.4GHz transmitter before your first flight, typically taking just 15-20 minutes of preparation time.
