The PNP configuration means you avoid paying premium prices for pre-assembled electronics you might want to upgrade, giving you complete control over your setup investment.

Key Features

  • 2000mm Wingspan — The substantial 2000mm (78.74 inch) wingspan provides exceptional lift and gliding efficiency, allowing extended flight times and superior altitude stability. This larger wing area distributes weight more effectively, reducing wing loading and resulting in slower, more controlled flight characteristics ideal for FPV operations and photography applications.
  • Lightweight EPO Construction — The durable expanded polypropylene fuselage and wing construction keeps the overall airframe weight minimal whilst maintaining structural integrity. EPO material absorbs impact energy effectively, making the airframe more forgiving during landing mistakes—a critical advantage for pilots still developing their skills or testing new FPV equipment configurations.
  • Plug-in and Click Structure — The innovative modular assembly design uses simple plug-in connectors and click-together components, enabling assembly in less than 30 minutes without requiring specialised tools or adhesives. This quick-assembly approach means you spend more time flying and less time building, whilst allowing straightforward separation of components for transport or maintenance.
  • Large Cabin Space — The generously proportioned fuselage cabin accommodates multiple pieces of avionics equipment, including FPV cameras, video transmitters, flight controllers, and additional battery capacity. This flexibility allows you to customise your aircraft configuration precisely to your intended application, whether that's FPV racing, aerial surveying, or experimental autonomous flight systems.
  • Powerful 2215 1400KV Brushless Motor — The robust outrunner brushless motor delivers reliable, efficient power with minimal maintenance requirements compared to traditional brushed motors. The 1400KV rating provides the optimal balance between speed and torque for this airframe size, ensuring strong climb performance whilst maintaining excellent glide characteristics when the motor is throttled back.
  • 30A Brushless ESC with XT60 Connector — The integrated electronic speed controller handles the brushless motor efficiently with smooth throttle response and built-in switch-mode battery elimination circuit (BEC) to power your servo systems. The XT60 connector ensures secure, reliable power connections that won't slip during flight, and the 30A rating provides adequate headroom for sustained high-power operations.
  • Six 9-Gram Servo Motors — Six precision 9-gram servo motors provide independent control of ailerons and flaps, delivering responsive, coordinated flight control throughout the entire flight envelope. These lightweight servos minimise added mass whilst providing sufficient torque for smooth, reliable control input translation.
  • Functional Ailerons and Flaps — Full aileron and flap functionality enables advanced flight control techniques including banner towing, thermal soaring, and aggressive FPV manoeuvres. The flaps allow precise trim adjustments in-flight, optimising glide efficiency and descent rates for precision landing operations.
  • 2.4GHz 6-Channel Radio System — The modern 2.4GHz frequency-hopping radio system provides excellent range and interference immunity, utilising six independent channels for complete aircraft control. This frequency standard is compatible with virtually all contemporary RC radio equipment sold in the UK, ensuring you can integrate the aircraft with your existing transmitter setup.
  • 3S LiPo Battery Compatibility — The aircraft accepts standard 11.1V (3S) lithium polymer batteries, providing excellent power-to-weight ratio and the capacity for extended flight sessions. The recommended 2200mAh capacity offers the optimal balance between flight duration and aircraft weight, though larger capacity batteries can be accommodated within the spacious cabin.

Technical Performance

The Volantex Ranger 2000 represents a sophisticated achievement in EPO aircraft engineering, combining lightweight construction with genuine performance capabilities. The 2000mm wingspan and 1100mm fuselage length create an aerodynamically efficient airframe with excellent glide characteristics and strong thermal-soaring potential. The powerful 2215 brushless motor (1400KV outrunner configuration) provides ample thrust for rapid climbs and sustained high-altitude flight, whilst the integrated 30A ESC ensures smooth, responsive throttle control across the entire power range. The aircraft's total weight (without battery) remains remarkably low thanks to EPO construction, resulting in reduced wing loading that translates directly into longer flight times and superior low-speed handling. The 8040 folding propeller design minimises drag when gliding and reduces overall weight, improving climb-out performance during powered flight phases. The aircraft's large cabin accommodates 11.1V (3S) LiPo batteries of up to 2200mAh capacity, though larger batteries can be fitted if you prioritise flight duration over top-end performance. Six independent 9-gram servo motors provide precise control of ailerons and flaps, enabling smooth, coordinated flight control throughout the aircraft's entire operational envelope. Build quality is exceptional throughout, with carefully engineered joints, reinforced control surfaces, and robust component integration. Assembly time of less than 30 minutes means you'll be flying within hours of unboxing, and the modular click-together construction allows quick reconfiguration or component replacement if necessary.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the Volantex Ranger 2000 glider suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. The manufacturer rates this aircraft for beginner through expert experience levels, and the plug-in assembly structure means you'll have it flight-ready in under 30 minutes. The stable airframe design, responsive servo control, and strong climb performance make it forgiving for developing pilots, whilst the large wingspan and EPO construction tolerate landing errors gracefully. However, you will need a 6-channel 2.4GHz radio system and battery to complete the aircraft, so some previous RC experience is helpful.
  • What battery does the Ranger 2000 require? — The aircraft uses 11.1V (3S) lithium polymer batteries, with 2200mAh recommended as the optimal capacity. This configuration provides approximately 15-25 minutes of flight time depending on flying style, with powered flight consuming energy more rapidly than thermal gliding. Larger capacity batteries (up to approximately 4500mAh) can be accommodated in the generous cabin space if you prioritise extended flight duration over weight savings.
  • How quickly can I get this aircraft flying? — Assembly takes less than 30 minutes thanks to the click-together component design and plug-in servo connections. Once you've added your radio receiver, battery, and charger (not included), you'll be ready for your first flight. The instruction manual provides clear assembly diagrams, and most UK RC hobby shops can assist with radio binding and system checks before your maiden flight.
  • What is the difference between the Ranger 2000 and the Ranger 1600 model? — The Ranger 2000 features a larger 2000mm wingspan compared to the Ranger 1600's 1600mm wingspan, resulting in better glide efficiency, longer flight times, and more stable handling characteristics. The larger model is better suited to experienced pilots and larger flying fields, whilst the 1600 offers improved manoeuvrability and suits smaller UK flying sites. Both use identical motor and ESC specifications, so the performance difference relates primarily to the airframe size and aerodynamic efficiency.
  • Can I use this aircraft for FPV flying? — Yes, the large cabin space is specifically designed to accommodate FPV camera systems, video transmitters, and flight controller equipment. The stable flight characteristics and long flight duration make the Ranger 2000 particularly suited to FPV operations, aerial photography, and surveying applications.
  • What radio equipment do I need? — You'll need a 2.4GHz 6-channel radio transmitter and matching receiver. The aircraft's 6-channel requirement accommodates independent aileron and flap control (4 channels), throttle, and auxiliary functions. Any modern 2.4GHz transmitter sold through UK RC retailers will be compatible, as this frequency standard is universal among RC hobby equipment.
  • Is assembly really that quick without adhesives? — Yes, the innovative click-together design eliminates the need for epoxy or superglue. All servo connections use standard connectors, the propeller uses a simple clip system, and the fuselage components click securely together. You'll need only basic tools—likely just a small screwdriver for servo mounting—making assembly accessible even for those without previous aircraft-building experience.
