The compact standard case design means it fits into many applications without the bulk of oversized alternatives.
The SV1272SG+ is part of Savox's new Plus ('+') generation, featuring innovative Soft Start Mode and Sanwa SSR compatibility, which means it integrates seamlessly with professional radio systems used by competitors and enthusiasts alike. These features represent genuine advancements in servo technology that translate to smoother operation, reduced mechanical stress, and longer component lifespan. Whether you're upgrading an existing RC setup or building a new high-performance machine, the SV1272SG+ delivers the torque, speed, and reliability you need.
Key Features
- Extreme Torque Output — With 30kg of torque available at 7.4V, this servo generates an exceptional 416.6 oz-in of rotational force, making it capable of handling the most demanding control requirements in large-scale aircraft, jets, and 1/5th scale surface vehicles where precise, powerful steering and control surfaces are essential.
- Unique Steel Gears — Precision-engineered unique steel gears provide superior durability and strength, ensuring the servo survives heavy use and harsh conditions without gear wear or slippage that might occur with standard plastic gear servos.
- Coreless Motor Design — The coreless motor technology brings output performance to the absolute top level by delivering smoother operation, faster response times, and greater efficiency compared to conventional motor designs, which means more consistent control and longer battery runtime.
- High Voltage Native Operation — Specially designed for high voltage 2S LiPo operation at 7.4V, this servo is optimised to work directly with modern lithium polymer batteries without requiring voltage converters or additional equipment, maximising your performance gains.
- Ultra-Fast Speed — At 0.10 seconds per 60 degrees when powered by 7.4V, the SV1272SG+ delivers lightning-quick response times that translate to more precise and reactive control, critical for competitive flying or precision manoeuvres.
- Soft Start Mode — The new Soft Start Mode featured in Plus models gradually ramps up servo power rather than applying full force instantly, reducing mechanical shock to gears and servo horn mounting points, extending component lifespan and improving overall durability.
- Sanwa SSR Compatibility — Integration with Sanwa SSR radio systems means professional users can take advantage of advanced radio features and telemetry options when using this servo, expanding its capabilities in competitive and professional applications.
- Environmentally Friendly — Savox servos are manufactured with sustainability in mind, from materials selection through production methods, allowing conscientious RC enthusiasts to enjoy their hobby with reduced environmental impact.
- Compact Standard Size Case — Despite its enormous power output, the servo maintains a standard case size with dimensions of 40.3 x 20.2 x 37.2mm, meaning it fits into applications designed for standard servos without requiring custom mounting or larger servo bays.
Technical Performance
The Savox SV1272SG+ represents a significant engineering achievement in servo design, combining extreme torque delivery with practical speed and efficiency. At 7.4V, the servo produces 30kg of torque whilst completing a 60-degree rotation in just 0.10 seconds—a performance envelope that positions it at the absolute top of the market for high-performance applications. The coreless motor technology is the key to this dual advantage: coreless designs eliminate the iron core found in traditional servo motors, resulting in lower mechanical friction, reduced weight, and superior power efficiency. This translates directly to faster response times and the ability to maintain consistent performance even during extended use sessions. The unique steel gears are precision-manufactured to exacting tolerances, ensuring smooth meshing and maximum power transfer whilst providing the exceptional durability needed for heavy-duty applications like large-scale RC aircraft control, jet servos, and 1/5th scale surface vehicles. The servo features a double bearing (2BB) construction that supports the output shaft at both ends, reducing lateral play and ensuring precise, wobble-free control positioning essential for tasks like ailerons, elevators, and nose wheel steering on RC aircraft, or aggressive steering inputs on high-speed RC buggies and monster trucks. The aluminium case provides structural rigidity whilst keeping weight low at just 63 grams, and the 25-tooth spline output gear is standard, offering excellent compatibility with Savox and universal servo horns available throughout the UK RC market. Operating current specifications show 150mA under no load at 7.4V and up to 5000mA stall current when the servo reaches maximum torque, making it essential to use a properly-sized ESC and power distribution system. The servo operates across a wide temperature range from -10°C to 50°C, performing reliably in both cold winter months and hot summer conditions typical of UK RC locations. With a refresh rate of 333Hz in Plus mode and 250Hz standard operation, the servo updates its position 250-333 times per second, ensuring smooth, jitter-free control response that serious users demand.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What voltage should I operate this servo at for maximum performance? — The SV1272SG+ is designed for native 2S LiPo operation at 7.4V, which is where it delivers its maximum rated torque of 30kg and fastest speed of 0.10 seconds per 60 degrees. You can also operate it at 6.0V where it produces 23kg of torque and 0.13 second speed, providing a more conservative operating mode. The servo is compatible with standard 2S LiPo batteries commonly used in modern RC vehicles throughout the UK.
- Is this servo suitable for large-scale aircraft and jet applications? — Yes, absolutely. The manufacturer specifically lists this servo as ideal for large-scale aircraft and jets, where its 30kg torque output handles control surface loads that would overwhelm standard servos. The coreless motor design ensures smooth, precise movements essential for maintaining stable flight, and the high-speed 0.10 second response time means fast, accurate control input delivery to ailerons and elevators.
- What makes the Plus ('+') version different from standard Savox servos? — The Plus version features two significant upgrades: Soft Start Mode, which gradually ramps up servo power rather than applying full force instantly, reducing shock loads on mechanical components and extending servo lifespan, and Sanwa SSR compatibility, allowing integration with professional-grade radio systems used in competitive RC flying and surface racing.
- How does the coreless motor benefit performance compared to standard servo motors? — Coreless motors eliminate the iron core found in traditional designs, resulting in lower internal friction, reduced electromagnetic drag, and lighter moving mass. This translates to faster response times, more efficient power usage, smoother operation under load, and the ability to deliver maximum torque more consistently throughout the servo's operating envelope.
- What current draw should I expect, and what ESC capacity do I need? — Under normal operation at 7.4V with no load, the servo draws approximately 150mA. However, when the servo reaches maximum torque (stall condition), current draw increases to 5000mA. You should use an ESC with sufficient capacity to handle multiple servos; for a single servo, a 60A+ ESC is recommended, and if you're running multiple servos in parallel, use appropriately rated power distribution boards.
- What is the bearing specification and why does it matter? — The servo features 2BB (double bearing) construction, meaning the output shaft is supported by ball bearings at both ends. This design minimises lateral play and wobbling, ensuring precise positioning essential for applications like aircraft control surfaces where even slight deviations in servo position affect flight characteristics.
- Can this servo be used in off-road RC vehicles like buggies and monster trucks? — Yes, the manufacturer specifically lists 1/8 off-road buggies, trucks, and monster trucks as ideal applications. The extreme torque helps manage the heavy loads from steering on large vehicles, and the fast 0.10 second response time enables quick directional changes and aggressive control inputs typical of off-road racing.
- What is the operating temperature range? — The servo operates reliably between -10°C and 50°C (-14°F to 122°F), which covers conditions experienced throughout the UK year, from cold winter RC days to hot summer sessions, ensuring consistent performance in all seasons.
- How many teeth does the output spline have? — The servo features a 25-tooth spline output, which is the standard servo horn connection. This ensures compatibility with the vast majority of Savox servo horns and universal servo horns available from UK RC retailers.
- What warranty and support does Savox provide? — Savox provides a 1-year warranty covering manufacturing defects, and customer service is available from their US-based team, though UK customers can also access support through authorised UK retailers who stock their products.
