  • Sanwa SSR Compatibility — The Plus variant offers seamless integration with Sanwa SSR radio systems, expanding your receiver options and allowing you to build systems around equipment you already trust and prefer.
  • Wide Operating Temperature Range — The servo functions reliably across temperatures from -10°C to 50°C, meaning it will perform consistently whether you're bashing in winter British weather or running in summer heat.
  • 15-Tooth Spline Output Shaft — The standard 15-tooth servo horn spline ensures maximum compatibility with aftermarket steering arms, linkages and control horns available from major RC brands throughout the UK market.

Technical Performance

The Savox SV0235MG+ represents a serious investment in servo performance for 1/5 scale RC vehicles and large aircraft applications. Powered by a high-quality brushed motor, this servo achieves its impressive specifications through precision engineering of internal components and optimised gear ratios. At 7.4V operation (two-cell LiPo battery configuration), the servo produces 35kg of continuous torque whilst maintaining a blistering 0.15-second response time for 60-degree rotation. This combination of power and speed is rarely found in a single package, making it particularly valuable for competitive racing where fractions of a second matter. The servo accepts a broad pulse width range from 800 to 2200 microseconds with a neutral position at 1500 microseconds, providing approximately 100 degrees of normal operating travel and up to 130 degrees maximum travel capability. The all-steel metal gear train construction ensures durability under sustained high-load operation, whilst the dual ball bearing output shaft maintains smooth rotation even after thousands of cycles. Running current when idle draws just 5mA, but under full load the servo draws up to 9000mA at 7.4V (stall current), so power supply sizing is critical. The 200-gram weight is substantial for a servo but necessary to accommodate the robust internal construction. The servo measures 65.8mm in length, 30.0mm in width and 57.4mm in height, making it suitable for mounting in dedicated servo bays on large-scale vehicles. The sealed construction protects internal components from dirt and moisture encountered in off-road RC racing and outdoor bashing, though it is not fully waterproof, so protective measures are recommended for extreme conditions. Savox backs this product with a full one-year warranty against manufacturing defects.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between the standard SV0235MG and the Plus SV0235MG+ model? — The Plus variant introduces Soft Start Mode technology and Sanwa SSR radio system compatibility, features not present in earlier standard versions. Both models share identical core specifications and performance envelope, so the upgrade path is entirely optional based on your preferred radio system and desire for enhanced startup characteristics.
  • What voltage should I run this servo at for maximum performance? — The servo achieves its maximum torque output (35kg) and fastest response time (0.15 seconds) when powered by a 7.4V lithium polymer battery pack. Running at standard 6V produces 28kg torque and 0.18-second response, still respectable but substantially reduced from peak performance. We recommend 7.4V 2S LiPo batteries for any serious competition or demanding application where the servo will encounter sustained high loads.
  • Is this servo suitable for beginners or only experienced RC pilots? — Whilst the servo's performance capabilities certainly appeal to expert racers and experienced builders, there is nothing inherently difficult about using this servo in a beginner-friendly vehicle. However, the servo's substantial size, weight and power requirements mean it is designed specifically for large-scale 1/5 vehicles and aircraft rather than smaller ready to run RC cars. Beginners are more likely to find smaller, lighter servos more appropriate unless they are specifically building a 1/5 scale vehicle platform.
  • What battery connector does this servo use? — The SV0235MG+ arrives with a standard JR-type servo connector on its lead wire, which is the industry standard connection type. This connector is compatible with virtually all RC receivers available in the UK market, though you should verify your specific receiver has available servo channels with standard connectors.
  • Can I use this servo on a smaller RC car like a 1/10 buggy? — Technically, the servo could physically fit in some larger 1/10 buggies or short course truck platforms, but it would be significant overkill both in terms of weight and power requirements. The servo's 200-gram mass would negatively impact vehicle handling and performance in smaller scale vehicles where lighter servos are preferred. This servo is specifically engineered for 1/5 scale vehicles and large aircraft applications where its substantial power output is genuinely necessary.
  • What is the servo's running current and power consumption? — Under no-load idle conditions, the servo draws approximately 150mA at 6.0V or 180mA at 7.4V, representing minimal current draw when not actively moving. Under sustained high-load operation (stall current), the servo can draw up to 7500mA at 6.0V or 9000mA at 7.4V, meaning you must ensure your power distribution system, battery pack and receiver can handle these peak current demands without voltage sag.
  • How durable is the gear train and what is the expected service life? — The all-steel metal gear construction is significantly more durable than nylon or composite gear alternatives, capable of withstanding thousands of cycles under load. With proper maintenance including occasional cleaning of the servo lead connector and avoiding continuous stall conditions, the servo should provide many years of reliable service. Savox includes replacement gear sets and servo case components as spare parts, allowing cost-effective repairs rather than complete servo replacement.
  • Does this servo work with all RC radio brands available in the UK? — Yes, the servo's standard JR connector and universal servo protocol compatibility work with virtually all major RC radio brands including Spektrum, Futaba, Sanwa, Hitec and others available through UK retailers. The Plus variant specifically mentions Sanwa SSR compatibility, making it an excellent choice if you already use Sanwa radio equipment or plan to in future builds.
