Overview

The Savox SG0211MG is a purpose-built digital servo specifically engineered for glider and sailplane applications, making it an essential component for RC enthusiasts who demand precision and reliability in their high-performance aircraft. This low-profile servo has been meticulously designed to fit within the slim dimensional specifications of glider wings, where space is at a premium and weight must be minimised without compromising performance. Whether you're flying slope soaring competitions, thermal soaring, or enjoying casual gliding with your RC aircraft, the SG0211MG delivers the speed, torque and durability required for smooth, responsive control in demanding aerial environments.

Unlike standard servos that struggle with the unique mounting constraints of glider applications, this specialist servo combines cutting-edge digital technology with a robust metal construction that guarantees extended operational life. The full aluminium case design ensures the servo remains lightweight whilst providing excellent heat dissipation and secure mounting points. RC glider pilots across the UK and beyond recognise that choosing the right servo can be the difference between a successful flight and a disappointing one, and the SG0211MG has earned its reputation as one of the finest servos available for this demanding discipline.

With its exceptionally fast speed of 0.13 seconds per 60 degrees at 6V and impressive torque output of 8.0kg, this servo responds instantly to control inputs, giving you the confidence and precision needed for competitive flying or recreational enjoyment. The servo's coreless brushed motor delivers smooth, reliable performance whilst the metal gear train ensures durability through countless flight hours, making it a genuine investment in your RC flying experience.

Key Features

  • Low-Profile Case Design — Measuring just 10mm in width, this servo is uniquely designed to fit within the slim wing sections of glider and sailplane models, solving the mounting challenges that other servos cannot address. This specialised design is essential if you want to maintain aerodynamic integrity whilst achieving responsive control.
  • Full Aluminium Case Construction — The complete metal case provides exceptional durability, excellent heat dissipation during extended flights, and secure mounting points that prevent slippage or vibration-induced failure. Aluminium construction keeps weight to an absolute minimum at just 29 grams, which is critical for maintaining your aircraft's optimal flight characteristics.
  • Metal Gear Train with Dual Ball Bearings — The robust metal gears combined with two ball bearings ensure backlash-free operation and extended service life, even under repeated stress from demanding manoeuvres. This precision engineering guarantees the highest accuracy for your model, translating to predictable, reliable control inputs every time you fly.
  • Exceptional Speed Performance — At 0.13 seconds per 60 degrees at 6V operation, this servo responds with lightning-fast precision, making it ideal for agile glider handling and rapid control corrections during competitive soaring events.
  • Strong Torque Output — Delivering 8.0kg of torque at 6V (111.1 oz-in), the SG0211MG provides the muscular response needed to control even larger glider models or those operating in strong thermal conditions, ensuring you maintain authority over your aircraft in all flying conditions.
  • Digital Control Technology — The servo incorporates digital circuitry with a 240Hz refresh rate, providing ultra-smooth and precise control responses that analogue alternatives simply cannot match. This digital precision is particularly valuable in competitive gliding applications where margins of victory are often measured in seconds.
  • Wide Operating Voltage Range — Compatible with both 4.8V and 6.0V power supplies, this servo offers flexibility in your power system design, allowing you to optimise performance based on your specific aircraft requirements and battery configuration.
  • Included Servo Arm for Wing Mounting — The package includes a special servo arm specifically designed for wing installation, eliminating the frustration of sourcing compatible hardware and ensuring you're ready to install and fly as quickly as possible.
  • Compact Mounting Frame — The solid mounting frame included with your servo provides stable, vibration-free installation, protecting your servo investment and ensuring consistent performance flight after flight.

Technical Performance

The SG0211MG represents the pinnacle of servo engineering for glider applications, combining advanced digital technology with precision manufacturing that sets it apart from general-purpose servos. The coreless brushed motor delivers smooth, responsive performance whilst consuming just 5mA of idle current when not in use, helping preserve battery charge during extended field sessions. At 6V operation, the servo draws 180mA under no-load conditions and reaches a maximum stall current of 1900mA when locked in position, making it compatible with modern LiPo battery systems commonly used in RC gliders across the UK. The servo operates reliably across a wide temperature range of -10°C to 50°C (-14°F to 122°F), ensuring consistent performance whether you're flying on cool winter days or during warm summer soaring sessions. Measuring precisely 30.0mm in length, 10.0mm in width, and 36.0mm in height, the compact dimensions allow installation in wing sections where conventional servos would be impossible to fit. The 21-tooth output gear spline is the industry standard for servo compatibility, ensuring you have access to a wide range of replacement arms and linkage options. With an operating travel of 100 degrees (1000 to 2000 microseconds) and maximum travel capability of approximately 165 degrees (800 to 2200 microseconds), this servo provides the control range needed for precise aileron, rudder, and elevator control in glider applications. The 250mm servo lead length with 5mm tolerance provides adequate reach for most glider fuselage layouts, though extension cables are readily available if required. UK RC glider enthusiasts appreciate that this servo is backed by a comprehensive one-year warranty from Savox, providing peace of mind and protection for your investment.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the Savox SG0211MG suitable for glider and sailplane applications? — Yes, this servo is specifically engineered for glider use. Its unique 10mm low-profile design allows installation in thin wing sections where standard servos cannot fit, making it the preferred choice for serious RC glider pilots. The included wing-mounting servo arm demonstrates Savox's commitment to supporting this specific application.
  • What is the speed and torque performance of this servo at 6V? — At 6V operation, the SG0211MG delivers 0.13 seconds per 60 degrees of travel and 8.0kg of torque (111.1 oz-in). This combination of fast response time and strong torque makes it suitable for controlling even larger glider models or flying in challenging thermal conditions.
  • What power supply does this servo require? — The servo operates across a wide voltage range from 4.8V to 6.0V, allowing compatibility with most RC battery systems. At 4.8V, it delivers 6.0kg of torque and 0.16 seconds per 60 degrees, whilst 6V operation provides the peak performance specifications mentioned above. Most UK RC glider pilots use 2S LiPo batteries (7.4V nominal, typically discharged to 6V during flight) to power their servos.
  • How much does this servo weigh? — At just 29 grams, the SG0211MG is exceptionally lightweight, critical for maintaining optimal flight characteristics in glider applications where every gram impacts performance. The aluminium case construction contributes to this low weight whilst providing excellent structural integrity.
  • What makes this servo better than standard servos for gliders? — The SG0211MG's 10mm width is uniquely designed for glider wing installation, whereas standard servos are typically 20-23mm wide and cannot fit within the slim wing sections of most glider designs. Additionally, the metal gear train and digital circuitry provide superior precision and durability compared to basic analogue servos, and the included wing-mounting arm eliminates compatibility guesswork.
  • Is this a digital or analogue servo? — This is a fully digital servo with a 240Hz refresh rate, providing smoother and more precise control than analogue alternatives. The digital technology enables faster response times and superior holding accuracy, which is essential for competitive gliding applications.
  • What is the operating temperature range? — The servo operates reliably between -10°C and 50°C (-14°F and 122°F), covering the full range of seasonal UK flying conditions and ensuring consistent performance throughout the year.
  • Does this servo include everything needed for installation? — The package includes the servo, a special wing-mounting arm, and a solid mounting frame. However, you will need to provide your own servo connectors, extension leads (if required), and linkage hardware appropriate to your specific airframe design.
