Overview

The Savox SB2230SG+ High Voltage monster torque brushless steel gear Digital Servo represents a significant step forward in precision RC servo technology for demanding applications. This servo is specifically engineered for giant scale aircraft, monster truck builds and 1/8 scale RC applications where raw torque and reliability are non-negotiable. Whether you're piloting a giant scale RC airplane, building a high-performance monster truck, or working on competitive 1/8 scale racing vehicles, the SB2230SG+ delivers the exceptional performance and durability that serious RC enthusiasts demand.

What sets this servo apart in the brushless RC servo market is the combination of cutting-edge brushless motor technology with robust steel gearing and intelligent digital control. The servo produces an impressive 583.3 oz-in of torque at 7.4V with lightning-fast response times of just 0.13 seconds per 60 degrees, making it suitable for the most demanding giant scale and high-performance RC vehicles available in the UK and internationally. The brushless design not only delivers superior performance but also ensures longer operational life and significantly cooler running temperatures compared to traditional brushed servo alternatives.

Savox has built a reputation for producing environmentally responsible RC servo solutions without compromising on performance. The SB2230SG+ embodies this commitment, combining leading-edge servo engineering with materials and production processes that are genuinely green. For RC enthusiasts searching for brushless servos for giant scale aircraft, competition-grade steering servos for RC trucks, or high-performance throttle control servos, the SB2230SG+ stands as a premium choice that delivers both the performance and the longevity that serious RC hobby builders require.

Key Features

  • Brushless Motor Technology — The servo features a brushless motor design that eliminates the wear and maintenance issues associated with traditional brushed motors, resulting in significantly longer operational lifespan and cooler running temperatures during extended use. This is particularly important for users of giant scale aircraft and high-performance RC vehicles that demand reliability over extended flight or running sessions.
  • Super High 12-Bit (4096) Digital Resolution — With 12-bit resolution providing 4,096 discrete control positions, this servo offers exceptional precision and smoothness of movement compared to lower-resolution servos. This advanced resolution ensures refined control for giant scale RC aircraft requiring delicate input management and precision steering in competitive RC applications.
  • Unique Steel Gear Construction — The servo employs extremely strong steel gears rather than plastic alternatives, ensuring exceptional durability and long-term reliability even under the demanding torque loads and repeated cycling of giant scale and monster truck RC applications. Steel gears resist stripping and wear far better than conventional materials.
  • Full Aluminium Case Design — The robust aluminium chassis isn't just for aesthetics; it actively facilitates superior heat dissipation during operation, allowing the servo to run cooler and maintain smooth performance even during extended use. The lightweight yet rigid aluminium construction also reduces overall servo weight without sacrificing structural integrity.
  • Exceptional Torque Output — Generating 583.3 oz-in of torque at 7.4V, this servo delivers monster-level power suitable for controlling heavy control surfaces on giant scale aircraft, powering steering on large monster trucks, and managing the demanding throttle control requirements of high-performance 1/8 scale RC vehicles.
  • Rapid Response Speed — With a response speed of just 0.13 seconds per 60 degrees at 7.4V, the SB2230SG+ offers reaction times that keep pace with dynamic RC flying and driving scenarios, ensuring your inputs are translated into immediate physical movement without lag or hesitation.
  • Dual Ball Bearing Support — The servo incorporates two ball bearings that provide smooth, low-friction operation and support the output shaft during high-load conditions typical of giant scale and competitive RC applications, ensuring years of dependable service.
  • 25-Tooth Spline Output — The standard 25-tooth spline output shaft accepts a wide variety of aftermarket servo horns and control arms, offering flexibility in mechanical linkage design for diverse RC applications.
  • Soft Start Mode (Plus/+ Models) — The updated SB2230SG+ features new Soft Start Mode technology that gradually spools up servo movement rather than executing sudden jarring movements, protecting mechanical linkages from shock loads and extending the lifespan of connected components.
  • Sanwa SSR Compatibility — The Plus (+) variant offers compatibility with Sanwa SSR radio systems, allowing seamless integration into Sanwa-based RC setups and providing additional flexibility for builders working with premium Japanese RC radio equipment.
  • Environmentally Responsible Construction — Savox servos are engineered with environmental responsibility throughout, from the selection of materials to the manufacturing processes employed, allowing users to pursue their RC hobby while maintaining a commitment to sustainability.

Technical Performance

The SB2230SG+ represents the pinnacle of high-voltage servo engineering, delivering performance characteristics that place it at the top of the servo category for demanding RC applications. The brushless motor design eliminates carbon brush wear, delivering cooler operation and extended lifespan compared to brushed alternatives — a critical advantage when building expensive giant scale aircraft or competition-grade 1/8 scale RC vehicles. The unique steel gear construction provides exceptional durability and torque transmission without the risk of plastic gear stripping that can compromise lesser servos during demanding manoeuvres or under sustained load. The servo's full aluminium case serves as a heat sink, actively drawing thermal energy away from internal components and maintaining optimal operating temperatures even during extended flying or driving sessions. With a 12-bit digital control system providing 4,096 resolution points, the SB2230SG+ offers smoothness and precision that legacy lower-resolution servos cannot match. The servo operates across a frequency range of 250-333 Hz with a pulse rate frequency of 1520, providing compatibility with a wide range of RC radio systems and receivers. At just 84 grams, the servo's compact dimensions of 40.3mm length, 20.2mm width, and 45.0mm height make it suitable for installation in weight-critical applications including giant scale aircraft where every gram contributes to overall vehicle performance and battery endurance.
