Overview

The HoBao Transformer Truggy Truck represents a genuinely innovative approach to RC vehicle design, combining the best features of both truggy and truck platforms in a single, versatile 1/10 scale package. Derived from the highly respected Hyper Mini ST platform, the HyperTT now runs on an extended chassis with larger tyres for enhanced realism and off-road performance. This isn't just another RC car UK enthusiasts can pick up — it's a transformable platform that lets you switch between two completely different driving experiences by simply changing the body shell. Whether you're a seasoned RC basher looking for fresh versatility or an intermediate driver ready to explore more advanced suspension tuning, the HyperTT offers exceptional value as a rolling chassis option.

This particular version comes 80% assembled as a rolling chassis, which means the mechanical engineering and suspension are already built and tested. You'll need to add electrics (motor, ESC, servos, and batteries) to get it running, making it ideal if you have spare radio-controlled components from previous builds or if you want to customise your setup from scratch. The unpainted bodyshell gives you complete freedom to personalise your truck's appearance, whether you prefer competition liveries, bespoke designs, or custom colour schemes. For UK RC enthusiasts seeking a flexible, quality platform without paying for pre-installed components you might want to replace anyway, this ready-to-customise approach delivers genuine value.

HoBao Racing's engineering is evident throughout this design. The low centre of gravity, precision-engineered differentials, and comprehensive adjustability options mean this isn't a truck that just looks the part — it's built to perform consistently across varied terrain. From casual weekend bashers to RC racing competitors, the Transformer Truggy Truck provides the platform, features and build quality expected from a manufacturer recognised for competitive RC engineering.

Key Features

  • Transformable Design (Truggy to Truck Conversion) — By simply adding the included rear wing, you can instantly convert this truck from truggy configuration to truck configuration, delivering two completely different driving characteristics and handling styles from a single chassis platform.
  • Extended Longer Chassis — Compared to the Hyper Mini ST, the HyperTT features a longer wheelbase that improves stability on uneven terrain and delivers more realistic proportions for both truggy and truck configurations.
  • Three Oil-Filled Differentials — Front, centre, and rear differentials with oil-filled chambers provide superior traction control and smooth power distribution across all four wheels, essential for off-road performance and competitive racing.
  • PBS (Passive Brake System) with Caster Adjustment — This advanced braking system combined with adjustable caster angles gives you precise control over stopping power and steering response, allowing fine-tuning for different track conditions and driving styles.
  • 6061 Aluminium Chassis with Countersunk Screw Holes and Kick-Up — The lightweight yet rigid 6061 aluminium construction provides durability without excess weight, whilst the countersunk screw holes create a clean finish and the kick-up geometry enhances breakover angles for extreme terrain.
  • Front and Rear Adjustable Sway Bars — Independent adjustment of both front and rear anti-roll bars allows you to fine-tune roll stiffness, helping you dial in the perfect balance between stability through corners and responsive handling on uneven off-road surfaces.
  • Aluminium Threaded Shocks with Multi-Hole Shock Towers — The adjustable shock towers provide multiple mounting positions, allowing you to modify suspension geometry and ride height to suit different tracks and driving preferences without replacing components.
  • 18 Ball Bearings Throughout — Precision ball bearings in every rotating joint ensure smooth, efficient power delivery and minimal friction, which translates to longer runtimes and more responsive handling compared to inferior bearing designs.
  • Front and Rear Aluminium Shock Towers with Droop, Wheelbase and Camber Adjustments — Comprehensive adjustability means you can modify suspension geometry for optimised handling across multiple terrains, from loose dirt and sand to carpeted tracks and concrete surfaces.
  • New Generation Ribbed Lower Arms with Improved Rear Shock Position — The reinforced lower arms with ribbed construction provide increased rigidity whilst the repositioned rear shocks improve suspension geometry and bump absorption.
  • Integrated CNC Diff Holder and Motor Mount — Precision CNC-machined integration of the differential holder and motor mount ensures absolute concentricity and reliability, reducing vibration and maximising drivetrain efficiency.

  • Low Centre of Gravity Diff Housings Integrated with Chassis — By integrating the differential housings directly into the chassis structure, HoBao has lowered the overall centre of gravity, improving stability through corners and reducing rollover risk on technical terrain.
  • 12mm-2.2 Dish Truck Wheels with Racing Tyres — These larger tyres compared to the Hyper Mini ST provide improved ground clearance, enhanced off-road flotation, and more realistic proportions whilst the dish wheel design balances aesthetics with structural strength.
  • Spring Adjusted Servo Saver — This protective mechanism prevents servo damage from impacts and extreme steering inputs by allowing controlled slip engagement, extending servo lifespan and improving reliability during competitive racing.
  • Velcro Strapped Battery Holder with Flexible Configuration — The battery holder accommodates various battery shapes and sizes through velcro mounting, giving you compatibility with different LiPo pack configurations without requiring dedicated battery trays.
  • Adjustable Turnbuckles and Aluminium Hinge Pin Holders — Turnbuckles allow tool-free suspension geometry adjustments for quick fine-tuning between heats or sessions, whilst aluminium hinge pin holders provide increased rigidity and durability during extended use.
  • 13-Tooth Laser Etched Pinion Gear — The precision laser-etched 13-tooth pinion (3.2mm bore) provides an ideal balance between acceleration and top speed, with etching ensuring reliable engagement and minimal slippage during demanding driving.
  • Front CVA (Constant Velocity Axles) — Front CVAs deliver more consistent power delivery and better traction during aggressive acceleration and cornering compared to traditional solid axles.
  • High-Impact Truggy Wing — The included truggy wing provides necessary downforce for high-speed stability whilst remaining flexible enough to absorb impacts without breaking, protecting both the wing and chassis during bashings.
  • Low Profile Advanced Forward Truck Body — The aerodynamically refined body design with forward-mounted configuration improves visibility and reduces wind resistance whilst maintaining authentic styling.

Technical Performance

The HoBao Transformer Truggy Truck 80% rolling chassis represents serious engineering for the 1/10 scale RC car UK market. The 6061 aluminium chassis construction delivers an optimal balance between weight savings and structural rigidity, essential for both competitive racing and casual bashings across varied terrain. The suspension system is genuinely comprehensive: three oil-filled differentials (front, centre, and rear) ensure smooth traction control across all surfaces, whilst the adjustable sway bars, multi-position shock towers, and droop/wheelbase/camber adjustment options provide granular control over handling characteristics. With 18 ball bearings distributed throughout the drivetrain, power delivery remains smooth and responsive across varying terrain conditions. The integrated CNC-machined differential holder and motor mount ensure perfect alignment and minimal vibration, directly contributing to consistency and reliability during extended running sessions. The 12mm-2.2 wheel and tyre combination provides excellent ground clearance and off-road flotation. As a brushless-ready platform, this rolling chassis accepts any standard 1/10 scale brushless motor (the specifications mention a 13-tooth pinion), allowing you to select motors ranging from entry-level options suitable for beginners through to high-performance racing units delivering exceptional acceleration. Battery compatibility extends to 3S LiPo configurations (11.1V), which is the industry standard for 1/10 brushless electric RC vehicles. The comprehensive adjustability throughout the suspension, steering, and chassis geometry means you can dial in perfect handling for specific track conditions without requiring expensive replacement parts. This level of engineering and feature density makes the HyperTT suitable for drivers ranging from skill level 3 intermediate builders through to competitive racers seeking a proven platform for testing and development.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the HoBao HyperTT Transformer Truggy Truck suitable for beginners? — This rolling chassis is rated Skill Level 3, which indicates intermediate builder experience. Assembly of the rolling chassis is already complete, but you'll need experience selecting, installing, and configuring motor, ESC, servos, and battery components. If you're entirely new to RC cars, you might prefer a fully assembled Ready-to-Run (RTR) model; however, if you have some RC experience and spare electrics from previous builds, this offers excellent value. The comprehensive adjustability makes it surprisingly forgiving once set up correctly.
  • What is the difference between this and a fully assembled RTR HyperTT? — This rolling chassis version eliminates the cost of pre-installed electronics you may not want. It comes 80% assembled with all mechanical components, suspension, and chassis complete. A full RTR version would include motor, ESC, servos, and radio system pre-installed. This approach saves money if you already have compatible electrics, or allows you to choose premium components tailored to your specific driving style.
  • Can I really transform this from a Truggy to a Truck just by changing the body? — Yes, the transformable design is genuine. By adding the included rear wing, the vehicle's weight distribution, aerodynamics, and driving characteristics shift significantly, delivering different handling dynamics. You get two vehicles in one platform without purchasing separate chassis.
  • What battery does the HyperTT need? — The HyperTT accepts 3S LiPo batteries (11.1V nominal voltage), which is the industry standard for 1/10 scale brushless electric RC vehicles. Capacity can vary from 1500mAh for lightweight racing builds to 5000mAh for extended bashing sessions. Battery connectors typically use XT60 or XT90 standards, both widely available from UK RC retailers.
  • What motor should I use with the 13-tooth pinion? — The 13-tooth pinion supports a range of brushless motors. For racing and performance-focused builds, 3200KV motors are popular, delivering strong acceleration without excessive current draw. For casual bashing, 2200-2800KV motors provide more controllable power delivery. Always ensure your chosen ESC is rated for your motor's specifications and your battery voltage (3S LiPo).
  • How adjustable is the suspension? — The HyperTT offers exceptional adjustability: front and rear sway bar stiffness, multi-position shock tower mounting for geometry adjustment, droop adjustment, wheelbase adjustment, and camber adjustment through upright modifications. This level of tunability typically requires skill-level intermediate or advanced drivers to optimise fully, but provides flexibility for competitive racing and performance tuning.
  • Is this truck waterproof? — The rolling chassis itself contains no electronics, so it's inherently waterproof. However, once you install your ESC, servos, and receiver, you'll need to ensure those components are waterproof if you intend to use the truck in wet conditions. Many modern brushless ESCs offer waterproof ratings; check your chosen ESC's specifications carefully.
  • Can I use this for racing or just casual bashing? — The HyperTT is genuinely suitable for both. The comprehensive suspension adjustability and high-quality bearings make it competitive for organised racing, whilst the robust construction and impact-resistant truggy wing are perfect for aggressive bashing. Your motor, ESC, and driving setup will determine whether it becomes a racer or a basher.
  • How long does the rolling chassis take to assemble? — With 80% pre-assembly, the chassis arrives mechanically complete. You'll need to install your motor, ESC, servos, receiver, and battery — installation time depends on your experience level and how carefully you wish to tune suspension geometry. First-time builders typically require 2-4 hours; experienced builders accomplish installation in under an hour.
  • What makes the HyperTT different from other 1/10 scale RC trucks? — The key differentiator is the transformable truggy-to-truck conversion system, giving you two distinct vehicles from one chassis. The extended wheelbase compared to the Hyper Mini ST provides improved stability, and the comprehensive suspension adjustability rivals many competition-grade vehicles. The integrated CNC-machined components and 18 ball bearings throughout ensure consistency and durability across extended use.
