The FS-ST8 handset represents a significant step forward in user-friendly RC transmitter design. Its lightweight, compact form factor combined with an ergonomic grip ensures comfortable handling even during extended flying or driving sessions, whilst the intuitive interface means you'll spend less time reading manuals and more time enjoying your RC hobby. The system operates on the proven 2.4GHz ISM frequency band using FlySky's robust ANT RF protocol, providing reliable communication with ranges exceeding 1000 metres in open air conditions without interference. This makes the FS-ST8 a dependable choice whether you're racing a brushless RC car UK-wide or flying scale aircraft from your local flying field.

What sets this system apart is the comprehensive RX SET menu system that provides multiple function setting menus, allowing you to configure the receiver system in all aspects to suit your specific RC model and flying or driving style. Combined with the included accessories—JR bay adapter, throttle pressure plate, and return-to-centre modification parts—this package offers exceptional value and flexibility for setting up your RC equipment precisely as you need it.

Key Features

  • Digital Proportional Radio Control System — This provides precise, smooth control over all channels without the lag or dead zones associated with older analogue systems, giving you the responsiveness needed for competitive RC racing, acrobatic flying, or precision manoeuvres.
  • 12-Channel Capability — Whilst the transmitter operates as an 8–12 channel system and the included SR8 receiver provides 8 PWM output channels, the 12-channel designation means you have capacity for future expansion and compatibility with more advanced receiver models like the SR12, ensuring your investment remains relevant as your RC hobby grows.
  • 2.4GHz ANT RF Protocol — Operating on the internationally recognised 2.4GHz ISM frequency band with FlySky's proprietary ANT protocol ensures interference-free operation, secure frequency hopping, and reliable signal transmission across distances exceeding 1000 metres, making this system suitable for any RC application from indoor to outdoor long-range flying.

  • Wide Operating Temperature Range — Operational performance from -10°C to +60°C means the FS-ST8 remains reliable whether you're flying on a crisp winter morning at the RC club or using it in warm summer conditions, with humidity tolerance from 20–95% covering most UK weather conditions.
  • Included JR Bay Adapter — The JR bay adapter allows compatibility with standard JR-format servos, opening up a vast ecosystem of servo options and giving you complete flexibility in building your RC model setup.
  • Throttle Pressure Plate and Return-to-Centre Components — These included modification parts allow you to customise the throttle feel and behaviour, enabling helicopter-mode operation or creating a self-centering throttle system that suits your specific flying or driving style.

Technical Performance

The FS-ST8 handset delivers exceptional technical performance across all specifications. Operating at a maximum transmission power of less than 20 dBm EIRP (Equivalent Isotropic Radiated Power) compliant with European regulations, the system achieves reliable communication at distances exceeding 1000 metres in open air without interference, making it suitable for long-range RC applications from FPV racing drones to scale glider tugs. The 4096-point channel resolution ensures that every subtle stick movement translates to proportional control input, eliminating the stepping or granularity found in budget radio systems. The ANT RF protocol utilises intelligent frequency hopping across the 2.4GHz ISM band to avoid interference from WiFi, Bluetooth, and other wireless devices, providing robust, secure communication that won't be disrupted by crowded RF environments typical at large RC clubs or flying events. The receiver module, the FS-SR8, is exceptionally compact at just 44.8 × 26.6 × 11.3 mm and weighs only 10 grams, making it suitable for installation in models where space is at a premium, from small racing drones to lightweight aeroplanes. The receiver accepts input voltages from 3.5–9V DC, covering everything from smaller LiPo packs through to larger battery systems, whilst offering multiple data output protocols: standard PWM for traditional servo connections, PPM for sequential output, i-BUS for smart device communication, and S.BUS for more advanced systems. The build quality throughout reflects professional RC equipment standards, with the transmitter's ergonomic moulded grip reducing hand fatigue during extended sessions, and the robust plastic construction providing excellent durability for field use. The dual antenna arrangement on both transmitter and receiver ensures consistent signal strength regardless of transmitter orientation, a critical advantage when piloting aerobatic aircraft or performing high-speed manoeuvres.
