Technical Performance
The ETRONIX ET2027 represents a significant step forward in coreless servo technology, combining a high-speed coreless motor with advanced digital control circuitry to deliver performance that surpasses many traditional servo designs. Operating at 6.0 volts nominal (the standard for most modern RC vehicles in the UK market), the servo achieves its 0.12-second speed rating and 12.1kg-cm torque specification, providing the power and responsiveness demanded by serious RC enthusiasts. The coreless motor construction is particularly noteworthy — by eliminating the iron core used in conventional servo motors, Etronix has created a motor that accelerates faster, consumes less electrical current, and generates less heat during prolonged operation, all factors that extend servo lifespan and improve overall RC reliability. The metal gear train running throughout the servo's transmission is engineered to distribute forces efficiently across multiple gear teeth, reducing wear per tooth and ensuring smooth, consistent operation across thousands of servo cycles. The 46-gram weight is exceptionally light for a midi servo of this capability, making it an excellent choice for weight-critical RC applications where overall mass reduction improves acceleration, handling, and battery runtime. The mixed metal and plastic housing balances strength where it matters most with weight savings throughout the servo structure. The digital control electronics process position feedback up to 300 times per second, ensuring that the servo knows exactly where its output shaft is at any moment and can hold position with remarkable precision — invaluable for RC applications requiring accurate, stable control. Whether you're building a competitive RC racer, an RC crawler tackling challenging terrain, or any other RC project where servo precision matters, the ET2027 provides the engineering quality and performance to deliver results.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a coreless servo and why is it better than traditional servos? — A coreless servo uses a coreless motor design that eliminates the heavy iron core found in standard servo motors. This results in a faster-responding, lighter, and more efficient servo. The ET2027's coreless design means quicker acceleration, less power draw from your RC battery, and superior responsiveness compared to traditional servo designs, making it an excellent choice for any RC application where precision and speed matter.
- What voltage does the ETRONIX ET2027 operate at? — The ET2027 is specified to operate at 6.0 volts nominal. This voltage is standard for most RC applications using 2S LiPo batteries or equivalent power sources. Always ensure your RC system's battery voltage matches the servo's 6.0-volt rating to achieve the specified performance figures and avoid damaging the servo electronics.
- Is this servo suitable for beginners building their first RC model? — Yes, the ET2027 is suitable for builders of all experience levels. Whilst it offers professional-grade performance that experienced RC racers and competitors appreciate, the straightforward installation, included hardware kit, and durable metal gear train make it equally accessible to RC hobbyists new to servo installation. The complete package of servo horns and mounting accessories means beginners won't encounter unexpected installation challenges.
- What RC applications is the ET2027 best used for? — The ET2027's compact size, lightweight construction, and powerful 12.1kg-cm torque make it ideal for steering control in RC buggies, RC short course trucks, and RC bashers, as well as throttle control in RC models. The fast 0.12-second response time makes it particularly suitable for competitive RC racing where precision steering input directly translates to improved lap times and consistency. It's also excellent for RC crawlers requiring precise, reliable control.
- How does the metal gear train affect servo lifespan? — Metal gears are significantly more durable than plastic gears, resisting wear, stripping, and deformation under load. In the ET2027, the metal gear train distributes forces across multiple teeth more evenly, meaning each individual tooth experiences less stress with each rotation. This design philosophy dramatically extends servo lifespan compared to plastic-geared servos, making the ET2027 a better long-term investment for serious RC enthusiasts who use their models frequently.
- Can I use the ET2027 in waterproof RC applications? — Whilst the ET2027 features a metal case and is built to professional standards, the source information does not specify a waterproof rating. For RC models that will be exposed to water, you should consider additional waterproofing measures or consult with RC Model Shop's expert team for guidance on protecting your servo in wet conditions.
- What makes digital control better than analogue servo control? — Digital servos use microprocessors to read position feedback multiple times per second and make constant micro-adjustments to servo position. This results in more accurate positioning, faster response to control inputs, and the ability to correct for external forces trying to move the servo arm. For RC applications where precision matters — racing, crawling, or any demanding RC task — digital control delivers superior performance compared to simpler analogue designs.
