Overview
The eTronix Female XT90 to Male Deans Adaptor Plug (ET0856) is an essential connector solution for RC enthusiasts across the UK who operate mixed-fleet setups with different connector standards. Whether you're piloting RC cars, boats, or aircraft with a combination of XT90 and Deans (T-plug) equipped equipment, this straightforward adaptor eliminates the need for re-soldering and provides a quick, reliable way to bridge two of the most popular connector types in the RC hobby. This simple yet indispensable component is perfect for hobbyists who want to maximise the flexibility of their existing battery packs, ESCs (Electronic Speed Controllers), and chargers without the complexity of rewiring.
If you've invested in quality RC models and batteries with different connector standards, you'll appreciate how this adaptor streamlines your setup and saves time during field days or competition events. Rather than being limited by connector incompatibility, the eTronix ET0856 lets you use your equipment more efficiently. It's particularly useful for RC car UK enthusiasts who may have inherited or purchased equipment from different manufacturers, or for those running multiple RC vehicles with varying connector specifications. The plug-in design means no soldering skills are required—simply connect and go.
Built by eTronix, a trusted brand in RC connector solutions, this adaptor represents excellent value at just £2.50. It's compact, lightweight, and designed to handle the demands of regular RC use without compromising on quality or safety. Whether you're a seasoned competitor or a weekend basher exploring the world of RC for the first time, having a few of these adaptors in your kit bag is smart planning.
Key Features
- Female XT90 Interface — The adaptor features a female XT90 connector on one end, allowing you to plug in any battery pack, ESC, or charger equipped with a standard male XT90 connector. This is the receiving end of the connection and ensures secure, reliable contact with your XT90-equipped devices.
- Male Deans (T-Plug) Interface — On the opposite end, the adaptor terminates in a male Deans connector, also known as a T-plug. This allows you to connect directly into any female Deans socket found on RC equipment from manufacturers who favour this standard. The male Deans connector is one of the most established connector types in the RC hobby, particularly popular in RC cars and aircraft applications.
- Plug-In Adaptor Design — There's no soldering required. Simply insert the female XT90 end into your battery or device, and plug the male Deans end into your receiving equipment. This makes the adaptor ideal for quick connector conversion at the field or during setup, saving you time and eliminating the need for specialist tools or skills.
- No Re-Soldering Required — One of the biggest advantages of this adaptor is that it preserves your existing connector infrastructure. Rather than desoldering and resoldering connectors onto your batteries or equipment, you can keep everything intact and use the adaptor as a bridge. This is particularly valuable if you want to maintain the warranty on expensive components or simply prefer to avoid the risk of heat damage during soldering.
- Mixed-Connector Fleet Compatibility — If you run multiple RC models and batteries with different connector standards—perhaps one vehicle uses XT90 and another uses Deans—this adaptor lets you share batteries and chargers across your entire fleet without compatibility issues. This flexibility significantly extends the utility of your RC investment.
- Lightweight and Compact — The adaptor is small enough to carry in any RC kit bag or field box, adding minimal weight to your setup while solving a significant connectivity problem. Its compact size means it won't take up valuable space in your equipment storage.
Technical Performance
The eTronix Female XT90 to Male Deans Adaptor Plug is engineered as a high-quality passive connector interface with no electronics, power limitations, or active components. This means it simply passes electrical current from your power source directly through to your connected equipment without any voltage drop or performance penalty. Both XT90 and Deans connectors are rated for high-current applications typical in modern brushless RC systems, and this adaptor maintains the integrity of both connector standards. The female XT90 end accepts standard male XT90 plugs with the characteristic gold-plated contacts that both connector types are known for, ensuring excellent conductivity and corrosion resistance over extended periods of use. The Deans connector end provides the same robust, reliable connection that has made the T-plug format popular across competitive RC car racing, aircraft flying, and boat racing in the UK and worldwide. The adaptor is suitable for use with any XT90 and Deans equipped devices, whether you're running high-discharge LiPo batteries with modern brushless ESCs or older equipment, as there are no compatibility restrictions. The construction quality ensures this adaptor will perform reliably through countless connection cycles without loosening, corrosion, or performance degradation, making it an excellent long-term investment for any mixed-connector RC fleet.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What does this adaptor actually do and why would I need it? — This adaptor lets you connect XT90-equipped batteries or devices to Deans (T-plug) equipped RC equipment, or vice versa. If you have multiple RC cars, boats, or aircraft using different connector standards, this adaptor eliminates compatibility issues and lets you share batteries and chargers across your fleet without soldering. It's particularly useful for RC enthusiasts in the UK with mixed equipment from different manufacturers.
- Is this suitable for high-current brushless systems? — Yes. Both XT90 and Deans connectors are designed for high-current applications used in modern brushless RC cars and aircraft. This adaptor simply bridges the two standards without introducing any current limiting or power loss. You can safely use it with any brushless ESC and battery combination that would normally work with either connector type independently.
- Can I use this to connect two XT90 batteries together? — No. This adaptor is specifically designed to convert between XT90 and Deans connectors. If you need to parallel or series-connect XT90 batteries, you'll need a different type of connector solution such as a XT90 balance lead or connector harness designed for that purpose.
- Do I need any tools or skills to use this adaptor? — No soldering required. Simply plug the female XT90 end into your battery or device, and plug the male Deans end into your receiving equipment. It's as straightforward as any other connector.
- Will this work with older Deans equipment? — Yes. The Deans (T-plug) format has remained consistent for many years and is widely used across RC applications. As long as your equipment features a female Deans socket, this adaptor will connect securely and reliably, whether it's vintage or modern gear.
- What's the difference between XT90 and Deans connectors? — XT90 and Deans (T-plug) are two different physical connector standards. XT90 connectors are newer and feature a more compact design with spark-suppression technology, while Deans connectors are an older standard that's still widely used in RC applications. Neither is inherently superior—they're simply different standards used by different manufacturers and users. This adaptor bridges the gap between them.
- Is this adaptor safe to use with LiPo batteries? — Yes. XT90 and Deans connectors are both standard, safe connector types used extensively with LiPo batteries throughout the RC hobby. This adaptor is simply a passive connector bridge and introduces no safety risk.
- Can I use multiple adaptors in series? — Whilst technically possible, using multiple adaptors in series creates unnecessary connector interfaces and potential points of electrical resistance. It's better to use a single, direct adaptor where possible, or to consider rewiring equipment to use a single standard connector type if you frequently find yourself needing multiple adaptor stages.
