The Etronix 15cm 22AWG JR Straight Servo Wire (ET0742) is an essential spare part and replacement component for RC enthusiasts across the UK who work with JR-style servo connectors. Whether you're maintaining your RC car, RC plane, RC helicopter or RC boat, this compact servo wire offers a quick and reliable solution for situations where you need a short, neat servo lead without unnecessary length. At just 15cm in total length, this wire is purpose-designed for compact RC installations where minimal wire runs are preferred, helping to keep your RC model's interior clean and tidy whilst ensuring proper servo connectivity.
This servo wire is ideal for both experienced RC hobbyists and those new to the RC car UK scene who need to replace damaged servo leads or create custom-length connections. The 22AWG gauge provides a good balance between flexibility and current-carrying capacity, making it suitable across a wide range of RC servo applications. Whether you're building a dedicated racing setup, maintaining weekend bash vehicles, or working on precision-engineered competition models, having quality spare servo wires in your toolkit is essential for keeping your RC equipment running smoothly.
Available in stock and ready to ship next day from RC Model Shop, the Etronix servo wire is a cost-effective spare part that should be in every RC enthusiast's workshop. At under £1, it represents excellent value for money and offers peace of mind knowing you have quality replacement leads on hand whenever you need them.
Key Features
- 15cm Length — This compact 15cm measurement makes the servo wire ideal for RC models where space is limited or where you specifically need a short lead without excessive cable length bunching up inside your RC car, truck, plane, helicopter or boat chassis.
- 22AWG Wire Gauge — The 22AWG specification provides a balanced wire thickness that offers good flexibility for routing through tight RC model compartments whilst maintaining sufficient conductor diameter to safely carry servo current loads without voltage drop or heat generation.
- JR-Style Servo Connector — This wire features the widely-adopted JR straight connector standard, ensuring compatibility with the vast majority of RC servo brands and models used in the UK RC hobby community, including popular brands across cars, planes, helicopters and boats.
- Straight Configuration — Unlike angled connectors that can create stress points in confined spaces, the straight connector design allows for cleaner installation paths and easier routing through your RC model's internal compartments.
- Quality Construction — Built to Etronix standards, this servo wire is designed to deliver reliable electrical connectivity and durability through repeated connection cycles, making it a dependable choice for both maintenance and custom installations.
Technical Performance
The Etronix 15cm 22AWG JR Straight Servo Wire is engineered to deliver reliable servo connectivity in compact RC installations across all RC vehicle types. The 22AWG wire gauge has been specifically chosen to provide optimal current carrying capacity for standard servo applications whilst maintaining the flexibility needed for routing through tight RC model compartments. The JR-style connector at each end ensures universal compatibility with the servo connector standard used by the majority of RC servo manufacturers and models. At 15cm total length, this wire is particularly valuable for RC builds where servo runs need to be kept minimal — such as compact 1/10 scale touring cars, small-scale RC planes, compact helicopters, or boats with integrated servo compartments. The straight connector orientation prevents the stress points and dead zones created by some angled designs, allowing for smoother cable management. Built with quality materials and engineering by Etronix, this servo wire will withstand the repeated connection and disconnection cycles typical in RC hobby use, whether during regular maintenance, servo repositioning, or equipment upgrades. The balanced wire gauge ensures safe operation without excessive voltage drop over the short 15cm run, meaning your servos receive clean power signals and operate with full responsiveness.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Etronix 15cm servo wire suitable for all RC vehicle types? — Yes, this servo wire is compatible with JR-style RC servo applications across cars, planes, helicopters and boats. The JR connector standard is widely used across all these RC vehicle categories, making this wire a versatile addition to any RC hobbyist's toolkit regardless of whether you favour RC car racing, RC plane flying, RC helicopter piloting or RC boating.
- What does 22AWG wire gauge mean? — AWG stands for American Wire Gauge, which is the standard measurement for electrical wire thickness. 22AWG is a relatively thin gauge wire that offers excellent flexibility whilst still safely carrying the modest current loads required by standard RC servos. This balance between flexibility and current capacity makes 22AWG the ideal choice for RC servo applications where space constraints often require routing cables through tight compartments.
- Why would I need a 15cm servo wire instead of a longer one? — Many RC builds benefit from short servo leads to minimise cable clutter inside the chassis, improve internal airflow where electronics are concentrated, and reduce unnecessary wire weight. Compact 1/10 scale RC cars, small planes, and various helicopter setups often have servo mounting points very close to the receiver, making a 15cm lead perfect for these applications. Having short leads also simplifies cable management and can reduce electromagnetic interference from long servo leads.
- Is the straight connector the same as other JR connectors? — The JR connector standard is the same across all JR-style products — the difference is in the orientation. This product features a straight connector, meaning both connectors are aligned in the same plane, as opposed to angled connectors which bend at 90 degrees. Straight connectors are preferred for applications where the servo and receiver are positioned in-line, providing a cleaner cable path without stress at the connection point.
- How many spare servo wires should I keep in my RC workshop? — It's good practice to keep several spare servo wires on hand, as servo leads can suffer damage during maintenance, crash repairs, or through repeated connection cycles. Having a selection of different lengths — including 15cm short leads like this one — means you're always prepared for maintenance work, servo repositioning, or emergency repairs without having to wait for delivery.
- Will this work with modern RC receivers and servos? — Yes, the JR connector standard has been in use for decades and remains the most common servo connector type across the RC hobby in 2024. Whether you're running vintage RC equipment, current-generation models, or mixing older and newer components, JR-compatible servo wires like this ensure universal compatibility.
