Overview
The Etronix Male Tamiya Connector With 10cm 14AWG Silicone Wire (ET0628) is an essential component for anyone working with RC hobby electronics and power systems. Whether you are building custom RC power leads, repairing existing wiring, or creating adapter harnesses for your RC car, buggy, truck or other RC hobby project, this pre-wired connector provides a convenient, ready-to-use solution that saves time and ensures reliable connections. The male Tamiya-style connector is one of the most widely recognised and trusted connector types in the RC hobby community across the UK and beyond, making this component compatible with countless RC models and chargers.
This practical connector assembly combines a genuine male Tamiya plug with a generous 10cm length of flexible 14AWG silicone wire, creating a short, manageable pigtail that is incredibly easy to route and position in tight spaces within your RC model or wiring enclosure. The silicone wire insulation is durable, heat-resistant and flexible, making it ideal for the dynamic environments inside RC vehicles where vibration, temperature fluctuations and physical stress are commonplace. For hobbyists looking to streamline their custom power leads, create charge leads that require a Tamiya-type plug, or perform general hobby wiring where a Tamiya connector is preferred, this ET0628 assembly is an invaluable tool that belongs in every serious RC enthusiast's spares box.
Manufactured by eTronix and branded with part number ET0628, this simple yet effective connector-with-wire assembly is recognised as a reliable, quality product that delivers excellent value for money. RC Model Shop stocks this component in the UK, ready to ship next day, making it easy to get exactly what you need for your next RC project or repair without delays or compromise on quality.
Key Features
- Male Tamiya Connector — The Tamiya connector standard is one of the most universally recognised power connection systems in the RC hobby, ensuring compatibility with a vast range of RC batteries, chargers, speed controllers and electronic components, giving you confidence that this connector will work reliably with your existing RC equipment.
- 10cm Pre-Attached Silicone Wire — Unlike bare connectors that require you to source and attach your own wire, this assembly arrives with 10 centimetres of quality silicone wire already attached and ready to use, eliminating the need for soldering skills or additional components and saving you valuable time on your RC projects.
- 14AWG Wire Gauge — The 14 AWG (American Wire Gauge) silicone wire provides an excellent balance between current capacity and flexibility, offering sufficient power delivery capacity for typical RC applications whilst remaining flexible enough to route through tight spaces within your RC chassis or electronic enclosure without damage or strain.
- Durable Silicone Insulation — Silicone wire insulation is superior to standard PVC in demanding RC applications because it remains flexible in cold conditions, resists heat better, and withstands the constant flexing and vibration that occurs during RC driving, ensuring your connection stays safe and reliable for many years of use.
- Compact and Practical Design — The modest 10cm length makes this connector ideal for creating short patch leads, adapters, and wiring harnesses where space is limited, whilst the pre-assembled format means you can integrate this component immediately without any preparation or additional work required.
- Reliable Quality Build — Manufactured by eTronix, a recognised and trusted brand in the RC hobby community, this connector assembly meets the quality standards expected by serious RC enthusiasts and is supplied in full working order, ready to be integrated into your RC power systems with confidence.
Technical Performance
The Etronix ET0628 Male Tamiya Connector represents the culmination of practical RC hobby engineering, combining proven connector technology with premium materials to create a component that performs reliably in the demanding environment of RC vehicles and electronic systems. The male Tamiya connector itself is manufactured to precise tolerances that ensure a secure, low-resistance connection every time you mate it with a female Tamiya socket, minimising voltage drop and power loss across the connector interface. The 14AWG silicone wire specification is carefully selected to provide adequate current-carrying capacity for typical RC charger leads, battery adapters, and ESC power connections, whilst remaining flexible and easy to work with. Silicone insulation is engineered to maintain its flexibility across a wide temperature range, which is critical in RC applications where batteries and motors can generate substantial heat during operation, and ambient conditions may vary from cold winter driving sessions to hot summer outdoor racing. The wire's inherent durability means it resists cracking, splitting and degradation from repeated bending, vibration exposure, and the physical stress of installation and removal over extended periods. This combination of premium connector design, appropriate wire gauge selection, and quality silicone insulation means the ET0628 delivers the reliable performance that RC enthusiasts demand, whether you are creating permanent wiring modifications, building custom charge leads for your RC battery collection, or assembling professional-grade adapter harnesses for workshop or competitive use.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a Tamiya connector and why is it important in RC hobbies? — The Tamiya connector is the industry-standard power connection system used across the majority of RC cars, buggies, trucks and their associated chargers and speed controllers. It is named after the Tamiya RC manufacturing company and has become the de facto universal standard because it provides a reliable, keyed connection that prevents incorrect polarity insertion. When you buy RC batteries, chargers and electronic speed controllers from retailers across the UK, they almost universally come fitted with Tamiya connectors, making this the connector type you will encounter most frequently in the RC hobby.
- What can I use this connector for? — This pre-wired connector is ideal for creating custom RC power leads, building adapter harnesses that allow you to connect different RC systems together, constructing charge leads for your RC batteries, and performing repairs or modifications to existing RC wiring. The 10cm length makes it particularly useful in tight spaces where you need a short pigtail rather than a long extension lead.
- Is the 14AWG wire size suitable for my RC setup? — 14AWG silicone wire is suitable for most typical RC applications including hobby-grade electric RC cars, buggies and trucks, battery charging leads, and standard ESC installations. If you are running high-current racing setups with multiple parallel battery packs or extremely powerful brushless motors, you may need to consult the specifications of your particular equipment to confirm current requirements, but for the vast majority of RC hobbyists in the UK, 14AWG provides an appropriate balance of capacity and practicality.
- Can beginners use this connector assembly? — Yes, this product is particularly suited to beginners because it arrives with the wire already attached and soldered, eliminating the need for soldering skills or special equipment. You simply use the pre-assembled connector and wire as-is in your RC projects, making it an accessible choice for newcomers to the hobby who may not yet be comfortable with soldering.
- Does this connector work with all RC batteries and chargers? — Male Tamiya connectors are compatible with any female Tamiya socket, which is found on the vast majority of RC batteries, chargers, speed controllers and power distribution systems used in the UK RC hobby. However, always verify that your specific equipment uses a female Tamiya socket before purchase to ensure compatibility.
- What makes silicone wire better than standard wire for RC applications? — Silicone wire insulation offers several advantages over standard PVC insulation: it remains flexible at low temperatures where PVC becomes brittle and prone to cracking, it resists higher temperatures better, which is important near hot motors and batteries, and it withstands repeated flexing and vibration without developing insulation failures. These properties make silicone wire the preferred choice among serious RC enthusiasts who demand long-term reliability.
