Key Features
- Sensorless Brushless Design — This advanced motor technology eliminates the complexity of sensor wiring whilst delivering smooth, responsive power delivery. Sensorless brushless motors are preferred by many 1/10-scale RC enthusiasts because they offer a simpler setup with fewer components to integrate into your ESC and vehicle system, reducing potential points of failure and making maintenance more straightforward.
- 9.0R Wind Configuration — The 9.0R specification refers to the internal winding resistance of the motor armature, which directly influences the motor's characteristics and power delivery. This particular wind ratio provides an excellent balance between acceleration response and top-end speed, making it versatile enough for various 1/10-scale driving scenarios including circuit racing, buggy racing, stadium trucks, and general recreational use.
- 4350kv Rating — The KV (kilovolt) rating indicates how many revolutions per minute the motor will turn for every volt of battery input. At 4350kv, this motor is designed to work optimally with 2S or 3S LiPo batteries commonly used in 1/10-scale RC cars, delivering impressive speed whilst maintaining good torque characteristics across the entire power band. This moderate-to-high KV rating makes it ideal for outdoor racing on various track surfaces.
- 1/10 Scale Application Specialist — Every aspect of this motor has been engineered specifically for 1/10-scale RC vehicles, ensuring optimal compatibility with standard ESCs, batteries, and mounting systems used in this scale. Whether you're upgrading an existing RC buggy, building a stadium truck, or working with other 1/10 platforms, you can be confident this motor is precisely matched to your vehicle's requirements.
- Etronix Photon 2.1 Series — Part of Etronix's renowned Photon range, this motor benefits from years of development and refinement. The Photon 2.1 designation indicates this is an updated version incorporating the latest motor technology, manufacturing techniques, and performance optimisations that Etronix has discovered through extensive testing and customer feedback from the RC racing community.
Technical Performance
The Etronix Photon 2.1 Sensorless 1/10 9.0R 4350kv Motor represents a significant engineering achievement in sensorless brushless motor design for 1/10-scale RC applications. Built with precision-engineered components and quality construction standards that reflect Etronix's reputation in the RC hobby, this motor combines efficient power delivery with reliable, consistent performance across diverse driving conditions. The 9.0R wind configuration combined with the 4350kv rating creates an excellent power curve that delivers strong initial acceleration whilst maintaining responsive throttle control throughout the entire RPM range. The sensorless brushless technology ensures commutation accuracy without the need for additional sensor components, which means cleaner power delivery and better integration with modern brushless ESCs. This motor is engineered to work seamlessly with standard 2S or 3S LiPo batteries commonly found in competitive 1/10-scale setups, offering the kind of performance consistency that racing enthusiasts and serious bashers demand. The motor's design philosophy emphasises durability and thermal management, allowing sustained high-performance driving sessions without the overheating issues that can plague lesser-quality alternatives. Whether you're running this motor in a 1/10 buggy, stadium truck, or other RC car platform, you can expect smooth, linear power delivery and the kind of reliability that keeps you racing rather than troubleshooting. The Photon 2.1's engineering represents excellent value for serious RC hobbyists who understand the importance of quality motor components in their overall vehicle performance.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Etronix Photon 2.1 4350kv motor suitable for beginners in RC? — Whilst this is a high-quality sensorless brushless motor, it does require integration with an appropriate ESC and battery setup. If you're new to brushless RC cars, this motor is best suited to those who already understand ESC programming and battery compatibility. However, if you're upgrading from a brushed motor setup or working with an experienced RC retailer, it represents an excellent introduction to brushless technology. The Photon 2.1 is particularly good for upgrading an existing ready to run RC car into a more performance-oriented setup.
- What battery does the Etronix Photon 2.1 4350kv motor need? — This motor is optimised for 2S or 3S LiPo battery packs, which are standard in 1/10-scale RC racing. A 2S LiPo will provide more torque-focused performance, whilst a 3S LiPo will deliver higher top speeds. Always ensure your ESC is rated for your chosen battery configuration, and follow the manufacturer's guidance regarding battery capacity (measured in mAh) and discharge ratings (C-rating).
- What ESC should I pair with this motor? — This sensorless brushless motor requires a brushless ESC rated for 1/10-scale applications and compatible with 2S or 3S LiPo batteries. Look for ESCs in the 60-100A range depending on your intended use. Ensure the ESC you select supports sensorless motor operation, as not all ESCs are designed for sensorless motors.
- What scale RC vehicles is this motor suitable for? — This is a dedicated 1/10-scale motor, making it suitable for 1/10 RC buggies, 1/10 stadium trucks, 1/10 short course trucks, and other 1/10-scale RC cars. It is not designed for 1/8-scale vehicles (which require larger motors) or smaller 1/12 or 1/16 applications. Always verify your vehicle's motor mounting specifications match this 1/10-scale standard.
- What makes this sensorless design better than sensored alternatives? — Sensorless brushless motors simplify your wiring setup and reduce component complexity, as they don't require dedicated sensor wires running from the motor to the ESC. This can mean cleaner motor installation, fewer potential connection issues, and easier troubleshooting. Sensored motors provide smoother low-speed operation in some applications, but the Photon 2.1's design optimisation for sensorless operation means it performs excellently throughout the RPM range.
- Is the Etronix Photon 2.1 available in UK stock? — Yes, this motor is available from RC Model Shop in the UK with typically next-day shipping on in-stock items. As an authorised Etronix retailer, we stock genuine products backed by manufacturer warranty and our expert support.
