Overview
The Etronix Servo Tester With Aluminium Case ET0050 is an essential bench-testing tool for any RC enthusiast in the UK who works with servos and electronic speed controllers. Whether you're setting up a new RC car, helicopter, or troubleshooting an existing model, this compact yet robust device eliminates the need for a transmitter and receiver during initial testing and diagnostics. The SerCon (Servo and Controller) tester is designed to save you time and money by allowing quick, reliable verification of your servo responses and ESC throttle control before taking your RC model to the track or field.
Housed in a durable aluminium case, the Etronix servo tester offers protection and professional presentation in a format that's perfect for workshop or field use. This is an indispensable piece of kit for RC car UK hobbyists, RC helicopter pilots, and anyone serious about getting their equipment dialled in correctly. The simple yet effective control system makes it accessible to newcomers to the RC hobby while providing the precision and repeatability that experienced competitors demand when setting up competition vehicles.
If you're building a ready to run RC model, preparing a custom build, or maintaining an existing fleet of RC vehicles, the Etronix servo tester gives you confidence that your servos are centred, responsive, and consistent before your model ever sees a receiver signal. It's a one-time investment that will serve you well across multiple projects and vehicles for years to come.
Key Features
- Manual Mode Control — Turn the knob at different speeds to test servo reaction time and responsiveness manually, allowing you to assess how quickly and smoothly your servo responds to input adjustments without requiring a full transmitter setup.
- Neutral Mode — Instantly centre your servo at the neutral point with a single mode selection, which is invaluable when installing servos or verifying that centre positions are correctly calibrated before assembly.
- Automatic Window Wiper Mode — The servo automatically swings through its full travel range side-to-side just like a car window wiper, allowing you to visually verify full range of motion, identify binding, and check for smooth operation across the entire servo throw.
- Multi-Servo Testing Capability — Connect up to three servos simultaneously to test them all at once, which is particularly useful for verifying consistency across multiple servos before installation or for testing CCPM helicopter servo systems.
- Servo Consistency Testing — Test up to three servos in the same session to directly compare their reaction times and movement smoothness, ensuring that matched servos actually perform identically rather than relying on manufacturer specifications alone.
- ESC Throttle Testing — Connect up to three electronic speed controllers to test and compare their throttle response and reaction time, helping you identify any differences between controllers or spot potential issues before they cause problems in the field.
- CCPM Helicopter Support — Dedicated functionality for testing all three servos of cyclic/collective pitch mixing (CCPM) helicopter systems with the ability to select and test individual servos within the helicopter setup.
- Durable Aluminium Case — The protective aluminium housing protects the internal circuitry from workshop damage and gives the tester a professional appearance, ensuring it will survive years of regular use without cosmetic degradation or functional issues.
Technical Performance
The Etronix Servo Tester ET0050 is engineered as a precision diagnostic instrument for RC servo and ESC systems. With its three distinct operating modes — manual, neutral, and automatic — the device provides comprehensive testing capabilities that cover every scenario you'll encounter during RC setup and maintenance. The aluminium case construction ensures the internal electronics remain protected from the inevitable knocks and spills of workshop life, whilst maintaining a compact footprint that fits easily into any RC toolbox or workbench. The tester's ability to handle up to three channels simultaneously makes it exceptionally versatile, whether you're working with simple two-servo RC cars, complex multi-servo systems, or CCPM helicopter platforms. The manual mode control knob allows infinitely variable servo positioning, enabling you to test reaction time across a range of speeds and assess whether servo response is linear and predictable. The automatic window wiper mode provides a completely hands-free method of checking full servo travel, which is essential for identifying mechanical binding, dead zones, or centering issues that might not be apparent from manual testing alone. Battery compatibility follows standard RC conventions, with the device accepting common battery pack configurations used throughout the RC hobby, making it compatible with whatever power system you already have in your workshop.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What battery does the Etronix Servo Tester ET0050 need? — The servo tester requires a standard RC battery pack to operate. Users have reported that an EP1600H style battery works excellently with this device, providing sufficient capacity for extended testing sessions. You should use whatever battery pack you have available in your RC workshop, as the tester is compatible with standard RC battery formats.
- Can I test multiple servos at the same time with this device? — Yes, absolutely. The Etronix servo tester allows you to connect up to three servos simultaneously, making it perfect for testing servo consistency across multiple channels or for verifying that replacement servos perform identically to the originals before installation in your RC model.
- Is this servo tester suitable for RC helicopter setup? — The Etronix Servo Tester ET0050 includes dedicated CCPM helicopter functionality, allowing you to connect all three cyclic/collective pitch mixing servos and test them individually. This makes it an ideal tool for helicopter enthusiasts who need to verify servo performance and consistency before flying.
- Can I use this to test my electronic speed controller without a receiver? — Yes, that's one of the primary functions of this device. You can connect up to three ESCs to the servo tester and individually test throttle response and reaction time on each one, which is invaluable for diagnosing ESC issues or comparing multiple controllers before choosing which to use in your RC car or truck.
- What's the difference between manual and automatic testing modes? — Manual mode lets you control the servo movement by turning the knob at whatever speed you choose, allowing you to assess reaction time and smoothness under your own control. Automatic window wiper mode makes the servo swing automatically from full travel in one direction to full travel in the other, providing a completely hands-free test of the servo's full range of motion and revealing any binding or inconsistencies that might only show up during sustained movement.
- Is the Etronix servo tester good for beginners? — Absolutely. The simplicity of operation with just a mode selector and control knob makes this tester extremely beginner-friendly, whilst the three different operating modes and multi-channel testing capability means it remains useful as your skills progress and you work on more complex RC setups.
- Why would I need a servo tester rather than just plugging everything into my transmitter and receiver? — A servo tester lets you verify that servos and ESCs are working correctly before installing them in your RC model, saving you time on troubleshooting and preventing potential crashes caused by servo or ESC issues. It also allows testing without needing to power up your entire transmitter and receiver system, and it lets you test multiple units simultaneously for consistency checks, something you cannot do with a receiver.
