Technical Performance
The Corally Voltax 120C LiPo HV Battery represents a significant advancement in hobby-grade battery technology, engineered specifically for the demands of competitive RC car racing. With a continuous discharge rating of 120C and the ability to handle burst loads, this battery delivers the raw power needed to accelerate high-performance brushless RC cars to maximum speed whilst maintaining stable voltage under stress. The Li-HV 3.8V cell chemistry provides higher energy density than standard LiPo cells, meaning you get more power in a lighter, more compact package. The shorty format construction measures just 95mm in length and weighs approximately 170 grams, positioning the battery low in the chassis for improved centre of gravity and better handling characteristics. The 2S2P cell configuration delivers 7.6V nominal voltage, making it compatible with all modern brushless ESCs rated for 2S LiPo power. The maximum charge current of 12.6 amps (3C rate) allows for rapid turnaround between heats, whilst the dual 4mm and 2mm bullit connectors ensure secure, low-resistance power delivery and cell monitoring. The rigid hard case protects the delicate cell pack during the vibration and impacts inherent in RC car racing, whilst allowing safe dissipation of any heat generated during high-discharge cycles. Every cell is individually graded and matched before assembly, guaranteeing that each battery pack delivers consistent performance and longevity across multiple charge cycles, making this an investment in reliability and competitive advantage for serious RC enthusiasts in the UK.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a 120C discharge rate and why does it matter for my RC car? — The 120C rating indicates the maximum safe continuous current this battery can deliver, calculated as the capacity in amp-hours multiplied by the C rating. For this 4200 mAh battery, 120C means it can safely deliver 504 amps continuously. This high discharge capability is essential for modern brushless RC cars, as it allows the motor and ESC to draw maximum power without the battery becoming a performance bottleneck, ensuring you achieve peak acceleration and maintain voltage stability during intense racing.
- Is the Corally Voltax 120C suitable for beginners? — This battery is specifically designed for competitive and experienced RC enthusiasts rather than beginners. The high discharge rate and performance characteristics are most beneficial in racing scenarios where maximum power and consistency are required. Beginners typically use lower C-rated batteries that are more forgiving. However, if you're stepping up from casual bashing to serious RC car racing, this battery is an excellent choice that will grow with your skills.
- What charge rate should I use and how long does it take to charge? — This battery supports charge rates up to 3C, which means a maximum charge current of 12.6 amps. Charging at the full 3C rate will charge the battery in approximately 20 minutes, whilst charging at a slower 1C rate (4.2 amps) will take about 60 minutes. Using a quality lithium balance charger and not exceeding 3C ensures optimal cell health and longevity. Always monitor your battery during charging and allow it to cool before use.
- What makes Team Corally batteries different from other RC batteries? — Team Corally batteries are manufactured at a prestigious facility with over 15 years of experience in high-discharge lithium polymer technology. Every cell undergoes meticulous balancing, aging, grading, and matching based on voltage and internal resistance. Lower-graded cells are never used in Team Corally packs — only the highest-grade cells with minimal tolerances between individual units are assembled. This rigorous quality control results in superior performance, better balance, extended cycle life, and greater reliability compared to typical hobby-grade batteries.
- Will this battery fit in my RC car's battery compartment? — The shorty format measures 95mm length × 47mm width × 22mm height and weighs approximately 170 grams, making it compatible with most modern RC cars that accept 2S LiPo shorty batteries. However, you should verify your specific vehicle's battery compartment dimensions before purchasing. The LCG (Low Centre of Gravity) shorty design is specifically engineered to position weight low in the chassis for improved handling balance.
- How many charge cycles will this battery last? — With proper care and using appropriate charging practices, Team Corally LiPo batteries deliver extended cycle life compared to lower-grade alternatives. The rigorous cell matching and grading process ensures consistent performance across numerous cycles. Avoid over-discharging below 3V per cell, store the battery at rest voltage when not in use, and use a quality balance charger to maximise lifespan. Most users can expect 100+ cycles before significant capacity degradation.
- Is this battery competition-approved for racing in the UK? — Yes, this battery is approved by both EFRA (European Fédération de Modelisme) and BRCA (British Radio Car Association), making it legal for use in sanctioned RC car racing events throughout the UK and Europe. If you're competing in BRCA-sanctioned races or other formal RC racing events, you can use this battery with confidence that it meets all regulatory requirements.
